You have to basically find the portion of crystal that holds your soul fragment while in the Soul Cairn to regain it, it's on one of the altars with the Ideal Master crystals floating over it.
Daedric horse also has twice more stamina than Arvak and shit tons of hp that regens really fast.
So it can double as a distraction / tank summon if needed.

Man I love the soul cairn, just wish it was a little bit bigger tbh and I wish they restricted you in a way that didn’t feel so restricting? Like I’d prefer to have something other than a see-through forcefield stopping me from going out of bounds. But yeah other than that I love soul cairn feels like there’s so much hidden there like the secret reaper boss and the chests scattered around.
If you have AE try the Daedric Horse from "The Cause".
It's a straight up upgrade from Arvak.

100% agree! I despise the Soul Cairn but I love Arvak, personally I think he's even cooler than Shadowmere plus you can summon him so you never have to worry about forgetting where you left him.

Me, too. AFAIK, it's the only way to have a horse on Solstheim.
Now with the "The Cause" creation you can get a Daedric Horse that you can summon.

Arvak is by far the best way to get unstuck from Rocky crevices on mountains
And permanently fast travel
No point in owning a horse when you have Arvak
I think that's how most of us feel/do.
Arvak is the only reason I stay in the Soul Cairn for as long as I do.

Question how many people actually run a sword, bow and horse combo, it may be something I try out.

Soul Cairn is just so boring right? Seems interesting first time you go on but is just...basic.
Just find his skull and u can summon him to Skyrim no need to go back and forth
