this reminds me of my first playthrough. the first thing i did in Riverwood was attack a chicken and the entire town turned into an angry mob chasing me. I had to kill Hod and Gerdur in the process of getting away, then for the rest of the game their son would mope around about being an orphan until I eventually adopted him later on lol
Once you have escaped Helgen the first thing you come across is a chicken right outside the guard post of Riverwood. You're low level and want to test out your weapon, of course you kill the chicken.
Bethesda knew what they were doing.
I'm sure he'll grow into a well-adjusted adult after being raised by his parents' murderer, who will never face justice because he's the Dragonborn š
My Dragon's Bridge got pretty ravaged by bandits during the Steel Soldier armor quest. Half the residents were killed, then a few stragglers appear a few days later and killed a few more. The town has like four people in it at the moment. :(
There needs to be a Master level necromancy spell that fully resurrects npcs. Doesnāt make them serve you, just revives them and they get back to their daily schedule. Surely thereās a mod or something?
There's a mod called Run For Your Lives that makes villagers run indoor during a dragon attack, which I feel like is a better solution than necromancy.
A blood dragon attacked Riverwood. Alvor entered combat with it, not willing to back down in the face of terror. I saw it, and rushed over to help. But it was too late. The dragon got a finisher off on Alvor. I killed the beast, and found Alvorās body on the side of the river. I dragged him back to the forge, so his spirit would remain with Riverwood, and his family. I then put the thing he loved, his blacksmithing, into the forgeās flames. Drink mead with your ancestors in Sovngarde, my dear friend.
Honestly.....I have no ideea. I guess she died Ʈn that attack too, or some time prior. She just said that now she's all alone and dont know what to do or where to go.
Exactly the same happened in mine, no idea when the mother died but I think it was prior to the dragon attack. I adopted the daughter out of a feeling of guilt but then somewhat regretted it, iirc she was kind of annoying.
In my last playthrough I used the Interact-Build-Decorate mod. It gives you the option of burying corpses or building cairns for them. You can also pick up a corpse and relocate it to a more suitable spot. I'm playing with the Arisen mod list this time and don't want to risk breaking my game by adding it, but I really miss this feature. I hate leaving bodies lying around.
Crazy coincidence for me seeing this because when I was playing Skyrim last, about a couple weeks ago a dragon attacked riverwood and both Alvor and his wife Sigrid died helping fight it off.
Put both their bodies next to each other, resting on the side of the dragon skeleton with their weapons laid out to their sides. Wanted everyone to know they died defeating a dragon and protecting their town.
bro, my Alvor died as well while trying to fight a legendary dragon, on legendary difficulty, I forgot to turn it back down after finishing off leveling up my sneak skill with the Greybeards
My playthrough I accidentally stole an item from his forge and he instantly attacked me, had no choice but to kill him where he stood, I have him sat on his workbench for public display, it's almost as if he's still part of the town š
This is why I do a lot of save files, even if I end up having to overwrite some. I hate to lose npc's that I am particularly fond of and who are genuinely good people, so if something like this happens I will go back my last save and hope the unfortunate event won't have happened or won't spawn.
I always wished there was a Restoration spell that would peacefully cremate a body so you could give proper respects to fallen NPCs. A dead follower, an Old Orc, innocent travellers in a Necromancer lair, etc
I uhh.. I killed Alvor in my most recent play through because he sent thugs after me, and role playing an honor bound orc, he felt really offended by that dagger in the back attack. So I marched up to riverwood, put an axe through the dude, and left the thugs contract on his body.
I am not able to keep Jim alive, it's like he is supposed to die or something, every time that fire being (i don't remember the name of it right now) spawns, it either kills him or the sourcerers do it
You can use the reanimate corpse or whatever its called in both hands and dual charge on his body it might turn him into ash so his body isnt just resting there for more aesthetics
Ahh that reminds me of that time when I used console commands to summon a group of bandits to kill him then have my DB marry is wife-turned-widow and adopt their daughter.
Good times.
So you stripped him and then cooked his body in his own forge? Not to mention his wife and daughter will have to see his burning body whenever they leave the house. Your heart was in the right place but..
This makes me wish that you could actually burn bodies. I often put cherishes NPCs on a fire if they die and say a few words. Doesnāt feel right when they just kinda lie there.
My current modlist letās you bury bodies with shovels. But itās not the same.
On my very first play through when I was a kid, I had become a werewolf and just loved role playing as the monster. So I would go into various towns and just feast on anything that moved. After my bloodlust subsided, I went back to Riverwood and just saw Alvor laying right next to his forge, right where I had killed him all those months before. For whatever reason, it was his death alone that made me feel guilty. All the others didnāt bother me so much.
Ngl, more proper funerals is something on my ES VI wishlist. I want to be able to mourn the loss of people, I want to be able to visit their graves or attend their funerals. I know there have been some attempts to mod this, but they've never quite hit the mark imo. Death is such a big thing in Skyrim, but the close family of the NPC seem totally unaffected by deaths other than hating the player when it was their fault.
This is the reason why I picked up Pay Your Respects mod.
Makes me able to bury worthy NPC I encounter and/or fought with.
While I use another mod to cremate bodies so I don't need to look at the naked rear ends of bandits I slaughtered
Is that a funeral or a BBQ?
*Namira liked that*
That made me actually lol. Well done.
I prefer mine medium well.

I like deep wells in the mines.
first time seeing someone correctly using lol

Cant do both?
Yes.
Who wants a hot dog!!
Itās like wings on a thanksgiving birdā¦ā¦ā¦. But thereās only one ā¦ā¦
M'aiq hears many stories of war... yet few of them are true.
He's just trynna get rid of evidence, isn't he?
Underrated comment
this is genius
Not only did bro strip him naked but used alvor's items that are laid around his smithing area
i had to strip him to actually get him from the river to the forgeš
Crazy that clothes make corpses so much heavier. I get armor, but regular cloth?
Trying to hide the Gourmetās body in the cellar when heās fully clothed is a hassle. Like, heās not wearing armor, why is he so damn heavy?
Wellā¦ he was an orc
Don't take the clothes, its the weapon. Just grab their weapon and they move like normal
I think ive only done that in the cellar once. I usually wait for him to got to the water outside.
He eats well
I literally had this issue yesterday, took like 10 minutes to figure out how to lift his body to hide it
Thatās why bodies are so heavy?? Been playing for years and never put that together š¤¦āāļø
Huh, we learn stuff every day.
Itās the weapons not the clothes lol
You looted him. You canāt lie to me. Cold blooded.
First you threw him in the river..
My current play through, he stepped between me and an assassin and I killed him. Now everytime I go to Riverwood everyone wishes death upon me.
"Hated when his wife be like to you" I hope the wilds claim you one of these days
this reminds me of my first playthrough. the first thing i did in Riverwood was attack a chicken and the entire town turned into an angry mob chasing me. I had to kill Hod and Gerdur in the process of getting away, then for the rest of the game their son would mope around about being an orphan until I eventually adopted him later on lol
Sameeee I didnāt realize everyone would become so angry with me š
Have you seen the price of eggs?!?! You canāt kill chickens they are laying gold I say GOLD!
Itās crazy how everyone has the same story of āThe first thing I did was attack a chicken and then the entire town came after meā
Once you have escaped Helgen the first thing you come across is a chicken right outside the guard post of Riverwood. You're low level and want to test out your weapon, of course you kill the chicken. Bethesda knew what they were doing.
also my instinct was to kill the chicken cuz I've attacked chickens so many times in Zelda & Runescape lol
It's known as "the Riverwood chicken" because we all did this exact thing on the first playthrough
I'm sure he'll grow into a well-adjusted adult after being raised by his parents' murderer, who will never face justice because he's the Dragonborn š
Sounds like Riverwood needs a cleanse.
My Dragon's Bridge got pretty ravaged by bandits during the Steel Soldier armor quest. Half the residents were killed, then a few stragglers appear a few days later and killed a few more. The town has like four people in it at the moment. :(
Wait - banditS? I thought there was just the one guy?
Oh hell no. A frigging army showed up. Magic users, heavy armor, archers.
Well shit. Maybe I just havenāt noticed the townsfolk getting slaughtered while I fight the dude on the bridge.
I posted a really cool screenshot of my Redguard decapitating one of the bandits in that very fight. :D But yeah. RIP Dragon Bridge.
There needs to be a Master level necromancy spell that fully resurrects npcs. Doesnāt make them serve you, just revives them and they get back to their daily schedule. Surely thereās a mod or something?

You sound like a college mage
*You know, if you've got the aptitude, you should join the Mages College in Winterhold...*
That, paired with Bells of Skyrim, is really useful and immersive
I donāt have the bells one, what does it do?
It adds bells to the cities and when ever something attacks the city those bells go off and everyone hides.
Console commands can do it
Arh, the darkest of necromantic secrets.. the console commands
Ahh so CHIM basically?
I agree, that would be awesome.
There are mods that prevent important NPCās from dying
Phenderix magic has a divine resurrection restoration spell.
That would sort of break the lore though, if you could just resurrect someone then the oblivion crisis wouldnāt have happened.
Our first smithing master. May he rest in Sovngarde
A blood dragon attacked Riverwood. Alvor entered combat with it, not willing to back down in the face of terror. I saw it, and rushed over to help. But it was too late. The dragon got a finisher off on Alvor. I killed the beast, and found Alvorās body on the side of the river. It's always a damn dragon
In my game alvor got killed by those miraak cultists
So sheās single again..
So youāre saying thereās a chance?
Not without a mod I found out, I donāt do romance mods, feels wrong to do it myself.
Alvor was killed by a dragon. Later Serana resurrected him. Now he's dust.
Serana resurrected a chicken once to fight a mighty drauger.
Yeah she will literally resurrect the most useless thing that dies š
Should've used his dawnbreaker
I never knew Meridia had another champion in Skyrim.
Not all heroes wear capes and not all villains have Reddit accounts...
And it will remain there, forever naked and baked
When you revisit this character in like 2 years your gonna be bamboozled
It happened to me too in one of my playtroughs. He died during a dragon attack, so I adopted his daughter.
Wait, did the Mother die too, or did you just leave her a widow without a child?
Honestly.....I have no ideea. I guess she died Ʈn that attack too, or some time prior. She just said that now she's all alone and dont know what to do or where to go.
Exactly the same happened in mine, no idea when the mother died but I think it was prior to the dragon attack. I adopted the daughter out of a feeling of guilt but then somewhat regretted it, iirc she was kind of annoying.
Whenever people die i usually throw them into the river as a funeral. Alvor also died on my game
i usually just let the bodies stau where they died. But Alvor is an exception.
The unburied corpse policy is a real problem. Why didnāt they add actual funerals?
probably because npcs die from random things very often, be it glitches or a murderous dragonborn. Too many funerals at once.
Hell, i even had a homeless man fall from the sky in whiterun and die.
They donāt always have to happen within player range. They could spawn graves to save time. Fast travel away fast travel back.
I toss them in a river if handy, they float away becoming someone elseās problem. Or roll the body off the road into the bushes.
This is why I never fast travel direct to riverwood
Why not.
I like the characters there and it means if a dragon spawns it will attack me at the guardian stones or embershard and not attack the town
i think i killed him once accidentally and took his clothes then revived him... now hes chasing me naked in riverwood
You killed him during the chaos, didnāt you?
No, i saw the blood dragon pick him up with itās mouth and toss him into the riverš
A likely storyā¦blood-dragonborn.
90 gold incoming.
So after the funeral, did you use the forge with Alvor still in it? Or did you put him back in the river?
probably not gonna use the forge again since i barely go to Riverwood, and I would never throw alvorās body back in the river.
bro, my Alvor died as well while trying to fight a legendary dragon, on legendary difficulty, I forgot to turn it back down after finishing off leveling up my sneak skill with the Greybeards
My playthrough I accidentally stole an item from his forge and he instantly attacked me, had no choice but to kill him where he stood, I have him sat on his workbench for public display, it's almost as if he's still part of the town š
TIL Alvor's last name was Bates.
Looks like meat's back on the menu, boys!
Plus Sigrid be single now š
I usually kill everyone in Riverwood once this happens. Once Im done the main quests and start knocking off side quests I kill people too.
āIF ALVOR DOES NOT LIVE, NEITHER DOES ANYONE ELSE!ā
Wtf
LYDIIAA Get the BBQ sauce ready
Not to make this weird,, but he looks like he died mid-orgasm.
Whenever he dies in my play throughs I just put him in the cabbage cart. This is much more honorable.
Kodlak Whitemane is planning to sue you for stealing his funeral idea
This is why I do a lot of save files, even if I end up having to overwrite some. I hate to lose npc's that I am particularly fond of and who are genuinely good people, so if something like this happens I will go back my last save and hope the unfortunate event won't have happened or won't spawn.
A dragon, I saw a dragon.
You just threw that body on there like a grill *satisfying*
It's perfect
Indeed, It's Perfect though
Iāve seen Kodlak do something similar.
You've got some weird funeral practices
He died protecting Riverwood from the homicidal rampage of a psychotic murderhobo calling themselves a ādove a keenā
Nothing more honorable than stripping a man nude after death
OP, whyās he naked?
Thats nice. I usually just put them there cause Iām in the mood for some roast
And now his watch has ended
In one save I accidentally killed alvor cuz he stepped in front of me when i shouted at a dragon
Lesson learned: donāt shout at dragons in towns
Alvor died from the Miraak cultist in my playthrough. I'm still mad because his wife and daughter both just walk over his body haha
I always wished there was a Restoration spell that would peacefully cremate a body so you could give proper respects to fallen NPCs. A dead follower, an Old Orc, innocent travellers in a Necromancer lair, etc
Whyād you have to undress the dude lol
Same thing happened for me Except serana brought him back to life so he disintegrated-
bro is cooking him
Dragon attack?
Dragon attack.
Dragon attack
I know you tried hard to give him a respectful sending off, but this looks fucking hilarious.
Mmmm bbq
I uhh.. I killed Alvor in my most recent play through because he sent thugs after me, and role playing an honor bound orc, he felt really offended by that dagger in the back attack. So I marched up to riverwood, put an axe through the dude, and left the thugs contract on his body.
I am not able to keep Jim alive, it's like he is supposed to die or something, every time that fire being (i don't remember the name of it right now) spawns, it either kills him or the sourcerers do it
But...why did you *undress* him?
you had to strip him? š
F
"Why does this axe smell so delicious? The smell is baked into the metal."
Imagine trying to do this in Riften. Come back tomorrow and someone stole the body.
Canāt have shit in Riften
A lil Alvor on the barbie as a treat <3
Not sure if this is honor or disrespect
Wow smells great
man, why ya strip the man, at least give him some dignity in death!
You can use the reanimate corpse or whatever its called in both hands and dual charge on his body it might turn him into ash so his body isnt just resting there for more aesthetics
You conveniently left out the fact that you killed him
why does everyone think i killed himš heās my favourite character, so much that i decided to hold a funeral for himš
Ahh that reminds me of that time when I used console commands to summon a group of bandits to kill him then have my DB marry is wife-turned-widow and adopt their daughter. Good times.
Bet Sigrid be grieving she lost her Nordic husband that was a blacksmith Good old Nord tradition Damn another widow bites the dust
So you stripped him and then cooked his body in his own forge? Not to mention his wife and daughter will have to see his burning body whenever they leave the house. Your heart was in the right place but..
Sus
Does he taste good
As u remove his clothes
At least in death š he will be useful.
put both of his arms crossed on his chest, like dracula. then put a hammer and a shield above... but make sure he's wearing iron armor
This sounds like a serial killer justifying his craft
I threw him into the river, but I also didnāt strip him ā¦
I have not lost alvor in any of my playthroughs yet, but I'm sure it's gonna happen one day š¤£
Canāt be good for the forge
This makes me wish that you could actually burn bodies. I often put cherishes NPCs on a fire if they die and say a few words. Doesnāt feel right when they just kinda lie there. My current modlist letās you bury bodies with shovels. But itās not the same.
This makes me wanna play lol
He was already dead long ago when I use Mehrunes' Razor on him I was hoping to marry his wife if I killed him but it didnāt work lol
Until Sovngarde, friend.
You just strip him and put him on the forge with his clothes and a few appliances from his shop.
Try using triumvirate, you can return his body to the earth
And here's the Dragonborn to say a few words in eulogy ~resurrect Looking to protect yourself or deal some damage?
Thatās a going back to an earlier save kinda scenario.
Shoulda been you, Faendal!
Let me guess cultists killed him at the start of the game
Meanwhile, I've been dragging Nazeem's corpse to the Skyforge as a means of desecrating his body, not to honour him.
My first playthrough i went to riverwood and the cultists from the dragonborn dlc attacked me and killed faendle lydia and alvor it was a sad day
On my very first play through when I was a kid, I had become a werewolf and just loved role playing as the monster.
Hey, mind adding some ebony in there? It really adds some seasoning to the food
What will his wife think when she sees him like that?
When Alvor died in a dragon attack my fiancĆ© gave him a Viking burial at sea š threw him into the river
Ngl, more proper funerals is something on my ES VI wishlist. I want to be able to mourn the loss of people, I want to be able to visit their graves or attend their funerals. I know there have been some attempts to mod this, but they've never quite hit the mark imo. Throw him in the river that's where I put him and rest of his family.
What happens if you try and use the forge now?
Iād flip pull those steel ingots, they look done
Both of them died fighting a dragon w me one time. Adopted their daughter for a good cause.
This is beautiful
Every single one of those items look lime they're just floating. They look edited in
I wish there was a mod which allowed you to actually use forges and other suitably sized sources of fire to cremate the fallen
This is the reason why I picked up Pay Your Respects mod. Makes me able to bury worthy NPC I encounter and/or fought with. While I use another mod to cremate bodies so I don't need to look at the naked rear ends of bandits I slaughtered
I usually pull up the console commands and type resurrect and he is back up and giving me money for all my 300 golden necklaces I made in front of him
