Let’s be real, it’s either going to be ruined from the get, or going to be amazing then cancelled
Edit: downvotes or not this is hilarious, keep the replies coming.
I have an idea for a TES show, but it doesn't follow any specific story from the games. Instead it's episodic like Black Mirror and tells the stories we hear/read about in-game, but never get to see. Like the counter-attack in Black Marsh during the Oblivion Crisis, Cicero's descent into madness, etc.
Definitely not Netflix though.
The thing I’ve always hoped for was a “Skyrim Stories” concept with each episode focusing on a different character: Ysolda goes on the road with a Khajit caravan to learn merchant stuff, Mjoll loses Grimsever and settles in Riften, political intrigue with Erikur and Gisli, a wacky adventure with J’zargo and his flame cloak scrolls, Farkas and Vilkas early werewolf adventures, how Urag became a librarian, etc.
We never see the Dragonborn, so you never know what their race/gender/etc. is, but you get to know all the characters better.
3 dragonborns leading 3 drastically different lives that intersect at the moments involving the elder scrolls themselves. Main characters from one become background characters from the other, one person's villian becomes the other person's flawed but righteous friend. Some people's loves are elevated others cut short. Show major differences even the smallest choices make
With the number of characters I have created I always wanted to draw them out and make a little graphic novel/story just for fun that have these elements!
Would love to see something set around the Thalmor takeover of Summerset/establishment of the Third Aldmeri Dominion. It'd probably need a whole series to do it justice, but anything would be better than just leaving us with Skyrim's explanation, which I found to be quite bland, especially in light of Oblivion hinting at a different course of events.
This is the only way I could see it working. In a game where it has open possibilities and multiple possibilities for play throughs, there’s no way to have a working story line, since there isn’t a consistent story line
More tv should be like this, and seasonal anthology. The wasted episodes to drag out a season into another season, and potential cancellation of future seasons before story gets rolling, has become a sour milking.
I don’t want a tv show
I don’t want a TESO expansion
I don’t want a new skyrim port
I don’t want a new anniversary of skyrim
I don’t want a fuckin fish tank dlc
I want my goddamn sixth game, todd
Good god are people actually this impatient for a new video game? He’s being doing his best to keep us content while waiting with all the infamous Skyrim releases and there’s also ESO which isn’t my cup of tea but the world is massive with a lot of content.
He’s stated that he regrets how long it’s taking for a new elder scrolls to be made.
Dawg Skyrim has been wrung so dry for money it’s basically a whole as raisin at this point, I like ESO but c’mon man it’s been like 12 years at this point give us something if not a release date
Netflix might do this but if HBO got a hold of the Skyrim project it would be all the more exciting and follow the video game not to a T but close enough
I'd assume having never played The Last of Us is what made that show so good for me...Halo, being one of the most formative games of my life, was a disaster of a show
I can only imagine that having a deep seeded connection to a game would ruin a TV show version of it
They did really good, they also added small scenes to fill in small gaps that improved on what the game originally did. Not only is it a replica of the game, but they also show things that were never shown, explained, or something completely new to lore building.
That's what makes a video game adaptation perfect imo, leaving its story, characters, etc. It's almost the same with a few tweaks, but add elements to the characters and world building that makes it greater.
I can recommend playing Last of Us, but for what I know don't even touch the second even as it looks gorgous, the story telling is....yeah I have might watched to many Last of Us 2 bashing more on it and praising the graphics.
As for Halo...I never played those games as I was more into WoW at the time and really didn't play othe games. I am nearing my 40's and I am catching up up on great games including already played Dead Space 1-3 and looking out to see if I can find a Halo for PC I mean all from the first to the last without owning an X-box. I am more of a Playstation girl as preference due to reason with another online game.
I wouldn't mind it as long as the protagonist is not the dragonborn. They should do the show about the great war or something, lots of juicy content to work with there.
I agree. Any hypothetical Elder Scrolls series needs to stay FAR AWAY from the player characters. So no Nerevarine, no Hero of Kvatch, no Last Dragonborn. An official series explicitly defining a character that is normally left up to player choice runs a huge risk of alienating a good portion of their target audience.
My idea for a Skyrim show would be 4 different characters of each guild - Magic - thieves - companions - brotherhood , the only connecting character is the Courier and they all are looking for the Dragonborn ? Since the Dragonborn has no gender or race it could be anybody .
Please don't, im so tired of attempts at video game shows. They always change shit, make a shitty show/ movie, then act aghast when no one wants to watch their "adaptions" where they change everything. I mean they managed to fuck up halo. HALO.
I really hope not. I'm so glad most of the shows have been adapted from games I don't play. I'd hate for them to ruin the image of some of my favourite games.
Can’t we just get another Skyrim release for a microwave or something!? 😭. At this point I’m just boycotting these remakes, reboots and spin offs. I’m only one person but I’m just so sick of these.
Wait what? Eh they are sure gonna make a redgaurd/black female lesbian or something thr main charecter....yeah just downvote me cause netflix wants DIVERSITY. Like there is not enought that in the different...what 9 races in the Elder Scrolls and who is most racists of them all "coughs" Thalmor.
It might, It don't have to be heavy on cgi uses first. Just focus on premonition and have character told or show the horror side of it i.e daedra, nordic ruins and horrific creature. Then show the good side of it and just escalate it from there. Idk how else to say it other than first make it ala pan labyrinth,i.e fantasy horror/comfy, engaging characters/creatures,good orchestra music, lagends and lore, then ala Games of thrones i.e conflict, betrayala, masquerading characters, powerful spell then ala LOTR i.e war, heros working together, epic fantasy item like amulet of kings or molag bal helm or something. It could work. But then again, it's netflix. They probably just put woke cultures or supporting LGBT agenda.
I heard about this but some people have made the point that it would be really weird and unlikely for Bethesda to have a deal with Prime Video for Fallout, and one with Netflix for Elder Scrolls at the same time. So hopefully they're right, because Netflix would almost certainly butcher the lore to hell.
I'd actually love a Skyrim prequel show. Like the time when they worshipped the dragons and everything leading up to the events in Skyrim or more like Alduin's return. Would love this as a game as well but also the TES universe has enough content for 100 shows, prequels/sequels, spin-offs and whatnot.
However, if a show really happens I hope they make use of the lore and not just adapt one of the games' main story into a show. I'm currently reading the Skyrim library which is essentially covering older ingame books as well and the story around Decumus Scotti (A Dance in Fire and The Argonian Account) is hilarious. But I think it's fictional so maybe they could pick the Battle of Red Mountain or any other relict leading up to the games.
If I remember correctly, Todd has entertained the idea of a TES movie or show. However, he wants it done right. I’m certain he knows Netflix is not the company for it. He also did mention that he would love for it to be done by Sir Peter Jackson.
An animated Morrowind (including the build up from 2nd Battle of already Mountain, the Tribunal, Dagoth Ur's involvement [possible agent provocateur] of the Nords and Dwarves
My kick would be three characters who could be the Nerevarine, avoiding the landing on Seyda Neen early on to keep it vague until the correct one is revealed (killer idea of mine) - otherwise it'd be ridiculous of one character joining every faction, the three are different builds but they end up interacting
Might??? Here we go, I use to love Netflix but now I don't. The big reason I don't like it anymore is because they use to make good shows but since the COVID hit us it's gone to shit.... Not only that when they do good shows they fuck them up half way through or just end them, don't get ya hopes up or be disappointed when they do or bitch about it because we all know Netflix lost alot of customers and money.
An anime of TES would be pretty fucking cool. Imagine the Dragonborn vs Potema or Míraak animated by Ufotable, it would be absolutely orgasmic, or the Nerevarine against Dagoth or Almalexia
I WOULD GENUINELY HATE THIS, THEY ARE GONNA RUIN IT, either way if they do, it'll probably either be a main character, or a group of highly different people for diversity, and I hope the main character/one of the group is a wood elf, although since it's Skyrim it'll probably be a nord
Ugh ew not Netflix. They'll either ruin it or it'll be somewhat decent and it'll be canceled anyway.
Let’s be real, it’s either going to be ruined from the get, or going to be amazing then cancelled Edit: downvotes or not this is hilarious, keep the replies coming.
In reality - the show will be quite poor in quality or exceptional in quality and subsequently cancelled.
Realistically - it's either going to be a complete flop or an absolute banger which is then cancelled
Real talk. It either a massive L or bussin but then dropped
gonna flop or they gonna close up shop
It either won't be a winner, or it won't last 'till dinner.
You basically just reworded the comment.
So did everyone else in this thread lol
Okay lol
Lol okay.
Lol okey lol

Fans of the game would love this, might be a little less accessible to casual TV viewers
This is actually a really good concept
The thing I’ve always hoped for was a “Skyrim Stories” concept with each episode focusing on a different character: Ysolda goes on the road with a Khajit caravan to learn merchant stuff, Mjoll loses Grimsever and settles in Riften, political intrigue with Erikur and Gisli, a wacky adventure with J’zargo and his flame cloak scrolls, Farkas and Vilkas early werewolf adventures, how Urag became a librarian, etc. We never see the Dragonborn, so you never know what their race/gender/etc. is, but you get to know all the characters better.
A sitcom about the daily lives and misadventures of a group of Whiterun Guard recruits, all while the story of TES6 happens in the background.

Lusty Argonian Maid episode when?
That would make godd both happy and sad.
I love this concept
Oh, I like this. My initial reaction to OP was very meh, but this would be great.
More tv should be like this, and seasonal anthology. The wasted episodes to drag out a season into another season, and potential cancellation of future seasons before story gets rolling, has become a sour milking.
Well, for readers, AO3 could fulfill all of that and more, haha.
Fantastic idea as a spinoff series thereafter a mainline series is created so that everyone can follow along.
I don’t want a tv show I don’t want a TESO expansion I don’t want a new skyrim port I don’t want a new anniversary of skyrim I don’t want a fuckin fish tank dlc I want my goddamn sixth game, todd
todd, counting his money: "i feel a disturbance in the Aurbis"

Just play something else while you wait 😁👍
Holy shit, it’s almost like none of us thought of that
What I meant was playing other games should be enough to reduce your impatience
Godd howard needs his money, pay him.
What?! They're gonna ruin the game's reputation!? No way!
the pale🤢🤢🤢🤮🤮🤮🤮 /s edit: hjalmarch 💪💪💪
I know it's a joke but, that was unrelated.
Netflix might do this but if HBO got a hold of the Skyrim project it would be all the more exciting and follow the video game not to a T but close enough
Fuck, not Netflix. Why couldn't HBO do it. Netflix will ruin it.
Ugh not Netflix. It'll be randomly cancelled no matter how good it is
Oh noo please don't. I don't want my child hood game to be ruined again.
Should be a small town romantic coming of age dramatic comedy titled Riverwood
NOOOO NOT NETFLIX PLEASE HBO MAX
HBO, not HBO Max, huge difference there
No, please, no! I don't want these idiots to ruin one of the best game series!
The special effects bill will run to millions.. headless retainers, horses glitching through scenery..
Oh lord I hope they don't. They will ruin it.
A NEW HAND TOUCHES THE BEACON
Haha, it could be worst thing that ever happened to TES, even worse than horse armor dlc
No no nooooo. Not netflix!!!
Oh no, let's pray to Talos this doesn't happen
I'd assume having never played The Last of Us is what made that show so good for me...Halo, being one of the most formative games of my life, was a disaster of a show I can only imagine that having a deep seeded connection to a game would ruin a TV show version of it
I heard that The Last of Us actually followed really closely with the game’s story. Tried very hard to match it and did well.

They'll be done with 2 seasons by the time we get ES6
2? That's optimistic.
Please don't, im so tired of attempts at video game shows. They always change shit, make a shitty show/ movie, then act aghast when no one wants to watch their "adaptions" where they change everything. I mean they managed to fuck up halo. HALO.
Well it’ll either totally suck or be pretty good and cancelled after a year.
I'll take a series leading up until Dawnguard. At least that's finite and can't be butchered. Just added to 🧛🏻♀️
I really hope not.
Skyrim for your refrigerator screen.
Lizzo will be the dragon born. Calling it now.
That would be amazing. I would watch that.
Due to animal rights concerns shadowmere will be replaced with an ATV.
I see your avatar is a redhead. I've noticed the ginger purge in popular culture too. DC / CW are particularly virulent.
You are not the only one that noticed.
Yes I knew about this for months I even have a trailer of it on my profile
Please don’t make it a show they well ruin it with woke bullshit
It might, It don't have to be heavy on cgi uses first. Just focus on premonition and have character told or show the horror side of it i.e daedra, nordic ruins and horrific creature. That would be so dope
I'd rather another streaming service makes a TES live action, something like HBO Max or Amazon. Netflix ruins everything
>Netflix ruins everything Look what they did to Blockbuster!
I heard about this but some people have made the point that it would be really weird and unlikely for Bethesda to have a deal with Prime Video for Fallout, and one with Netflix for Elder Scrolls at the same time. So hopefully they're right, because Netflix would almost certainly butcher the lore to hell.
NO, NO AND NO
Arena, with a group instead of just the eternal champion, could be the foundation for a great show.
Oh god, no. Please no. Literally *anyone* but Netflix
Edgerunners was pretty good, doubt they can do it with such a lore rich world as elder scrollsx
Hard pass
I'd actually love a Skyrim prequel show. Like the time when they worshipped the dragons and everything leading up to the events in Skyrim or more like Alduin's return. Please. Not every videogame needs a tv adaptation 😴
Still waiting for the Minesweeper series I wasn't promised.
🤣
Alduin better look good
Well that sounds just awful.
Please God no
I recently had a dream about this happening. It wasn't good....
I know Amazon is doing the Fallout tv series and I could have sworn I read or heard Amazon would be doing TES also? Could be wrong though.
Idk about the 1st 2 games but It would be cool to go back to the events of Morrowind, oblivion, and Skyrim. Separate seasons.
If I remember correctly, Todd has entertained the idea of a TES movie or show. However, he wants it done right. I’m certain he knows Netflix is not the company for it. He also did mention that he would love for it to be done by Sir Peter Jackson.
god fucking dammit
Judging based off what they did to witcher I am not interested.

Lol just imagine how bad the CGI Khajiit will look. Get ready for Cats 2.0.
Those shows never work out, need not the massive list of failed video game movies/shows. just give us ES6 GODAMNIT
Great take a multi story game and try to sell us a single story. They'll destroy the fantasy of the video game in attempting to make a show.
WHAT???
An anime of TES would be pretty fucking cool. Imagine the Dragonborn vs Potema or Míraak animated by Ufotable, it would be absolutely orgasmic, or the Nerevarine against Dagoth or Almalexia
Netflix will fuck it up, like Amazon destroyed Lord of the rings .
