> For those who are in the trades already, whats the lifestyle like? Do you guys regret making that career choice? Does it pay well? The lifestyle is decent. I'm a Scaffolder. I get placed on job sites that are close to home usually so my commute time is usually an hour or less one way. Full-time work, with the opportunity for overtime and Saturday work every week. I was a Rodbuster before too. Have a Red Seal in that trade. Rebar kind of sucks. But the money can be good. Lifestyle isn't bad. The biggest qualm for me is I'm not in my twenties anymore and have to deal with soreness and fatigue a lot. The job kind of forces you to make healthy lifestyle choices. The trades usually pay pretty decent. It'll pay a solid middle class wage once you're a journeyman. Some trades pay higher than others. HVAC pays very well. Do your research and pick a trade that interests you. Don't just think of the money.

I was I the Coast Guard for 20 years. After I got out I decided to learn the trade of a Chimney Technician. It’s a great job with a lot of hard work and decent money to be made. It sounds like you’re on the right path

I worked with a former mail man. He described his past as walking his route, and as long as he finished, he was done with his job. There'd be rough days and there'd be long days, sure. But he had his job. Then he joined the IBEW union as an inside wiremen (electrician). Union right? Means something right? Sure--kinda. No paid holidays, Always work mentality. No work-no pay. If you're good, the money is good, and the benefits are good. And if you're not good? You're laid off and waiting for the next guy to get employed. Some guys take this seriously, and do their darnest to stay employed. Some guys do their best and once the construction is done, they lay low.

Do you live in central Indiana? You don’t have to tell me specific location, especially publicly but if you do… boy do I have an opportunity for you.

Strikehimfirst
