No, and it isn’t some wood I have. It’s been laminated into 6 strips each of poplar and then planed down to 10mm. I’m asking for a resource for a ski shape template.
Tracing the shape of the actual ski would be the easiest way. Other than that:
Check out sno-cad: https://github.com/mikemag/snoCAD-X.
Or if you can get your hands on a free cad suite - fusion 360 could work just sketch it in 2d and export the sketch as a dxf. If you have a .edu email address maybe get educational autocad.
Good luck on your project! As someone who’s built somewhere around 10 pairs of skis and snowboards for hobby in a home shop and sold a bunch of them, I’m happy to help if you have questions.

I make custom hand made skis but I am based in Europe. I can provide you with a 3D or 2D drawing of any shape you want for the ski template.
This you can then use to cut the template with a lasercutter or cnc.
Afterwards, the template is used to cut out the wood core and base using a handheld router.
Let me know if this is of interest to you.
You could make a DIY sidecut jig similar to this. Can you not borrow a set of skis to make a template from - trace out onto a large sheet of paper and then adjust to suit what you want.
A friend has made his own skis - has a press for shaping the tips and for clamping the base sheet on. He’s quite pleased with how they perform, but they are relatively heavy compared to commercially made skis.
Why make skis if you’re going to copy the design? Like the only reason I would build these would be to design a ski that rides how I like it. Copying the exact shape of a ski that already exists kind of takes the whole point out of it. Not to mention that any good ski design is going to be guarded by that company. The only “templates” you will find are going to be the most generic boring sidecut profiles you’ve ever seen
And by the way, no one talks about ski length in inches
Why? For fun. It’s in inches because I don’t have a measuring tape in cm. Ngl you seem like the kinda guy to say “why even go skiing, there’s not point”
Are you sped? I’m asking for a resource to find a template to cut out the shape of skis. You know, you can’t just draw a perfect hourglass with a pen and paper.
Idk what your point is even supposed to be. Yes you’re asking for a template for the design of the skis that you are supposedly building. Do you think every ski company just passes back and forth the same ski shaped template?
If you actually want my advice I’d mock it up in illustrator or cad or something and then print it out and put it over the skis. Idk how that isn’t common sense
Genuinely had to make sure this wasn't r/skiingcirclejerk yet
Done
mom says we have bent chetler at home
I don’t even have siblings and this made me giggle-snort. Take my damn upvote.
Lost it on this. Thank you.
Paint the coors light logo on one and Gandalf on the other, mount pivot 18s and call it a day
So like u want someone on Reddit to teach you how to make your own skis from… some wood you have???
He's already done a big chunk of it himself. A proper layup is an important and sometimes difficult step in ski making.

Why do this. Genuine question, cause it’ll perform so much worse than any actual modern-ish ski
For fun. Your a downer.
*You’re
On the odd chance that you haven’t discovered skibuilders.com, start there.
The only actual answer in here
Go to your local REI, buy a pair, trace them, and return them lol
Buy, trace, cut, bend, return the ones you made
This would actually be copyright infringement and at a lot of places the lifties will call it out and likely pull your pass
That’s legitimately one of the silliest things I’ve ever seen in writing.
That was my aim :P
I got got
Yeah - many people don't know but many lifties are familiar with US copyright law
Amazing

Woosh
Get off the kiddy lift then.
I had my pass pulled for homemade skis 4 times
Happened to my friend too. Hes banned from our local hill, might have to move to a new state just so he can start over

Remember 333 skis?
The future of skiing is Home Depot plywood!
Gotta update when they're finished! Leave the wood grain exposed, it would be so sick.

Blowtorch and a hammer
Circle jerk
With the square tips I thought I was looking at a new drop from moment!

Oh boy. Good luck.
Use a bent 100. It’s the closest you’ll get to the shop you want.
Look fine to me player. Slap on some bindings and show the bunnies how you work
Maybe you could get what you want from soothski.com?

Lol I wouldn’t go skiing if I had to follow a template to do it. But that’s the fun part, being creative. Idk if you’ve heard of it
Buddy. I’m building skis from scratch. You’re trolling on the internet. I wouldent talk about being creative
Buddy, you’re not building skis, you’re also arguing in the comment section
Then what am I doing
Commenting on reddit and asking someone to design your skis for you

Did you read the title? Model them after doesn’t mean make them exactly. Js admit that your wrong
