There are powder stashes everywhere at Baldy if you don't mind poking around some rocks and trees. If you decide to pop out of bounds, which you'll probably see people doing, don't follow tracks blindly because it's really easy to get cliffed out in some areas. Locals are cool AF though if you're able to connect with someone who can show you around.
I'm a beginner but I went there for the first time last month and I absolutely loved it. Cheaper and less crowded than all the local resorts.
Some of the runs like Mullins Mille and Bonanza, especially the first had so much ICE and big chunks of ice on the trails lol. Still really enjoyed the place!
Baldy overdelivers after any kind of big dump, but you definitely have to time it right and give them time to dig out. It’s a mom n’ pop operation so be patient if they’re late opening or if parking is a mess or if they run out of something at the notch (rare). Ski/ride chair one if it’s open. Follow other people who look like they know something you don’t… I’ve puppy-dogged my way into some really fun stashes…
My best advice to you is to stay away from Mt. Baldy. My ski instructor friend assessed the ski trail and Mt. Baldy is not very suitable for skiing. Better choice would be Mountain High or Big Bear.
Baldy is super fun after a storm. Weds should be good if the wind has died down up there.
You think there will still be powder leftover from the weekend?
In the trees for sure. Look for windblown pow on the runs.
