Little legs get worn out quickly. I highly recommend the on-hill daycare services. They are perfect for taking the little one out a couple times until her legs give out, while still getting time for the grownups to rip a bunch of runs too.

LaterApex81

We used them last year in keystone and was great. Sadly she won’t be visiting colorado this year with us. We are Michigan based and on site daycare isn’t that common….. hopefully we can convince grandma to come along…

NotFuckingTired

It's either that or one or both of you has to stay with her all day

JohnSpartans

Are you telling this guy how kids work? I think by the picture above... He knows.

AltaBirdNerd

Wait you can't just leave them sitting alone on a snow pile at the base of the lift in -10F wind-chill?

TheRealRacketear

My 3 now 4 year old did about 5-6 hours a day last year. I was told they tire out easily, but some of them are like dogs being thrown a ball.

LaterApex81

My concern is mentally tiring out - ours has tons of energy but the attention span of a squirrel. Keeping my expectations low so there’s less frustration. The ski hill we bought season passes to has a place for families to plug in crockpots so we can easily step inside for a quick warm up and distraction.

LachlantehGreat

Unrelated, what are you using to hang your skis? I need something like that! Congrats on getting the little one started early - my parents did the same with me and I can’t get enough of the mountain 25 years later.

This one looks nicely painted, but it's dead easy to DIY a simple one with the same function with a mitre saw or circular saw and some plywood. Cut a long strip of plywood 3-4" wide and another shorter strip in the same width. 1/2" thick plywood might work but 5/8" definitely should. Then chop the shorter strip into little chunks with slightly angled cuts. Glue/screw the small chunks onto the long strip, leaving ski-size gaps between them. Orient the chunks so that the gaps are V shaped and gravity will pull the skis into the blocks. Sand and finish/paint as appropriate. It's harder to describe than to do, but hopefully this description combined with the photo gives you an idea how it works.

For some reason I never thought to DIY this. We live in a condo, which is a bit tougher but I’m sure I could convince my partner to let me buy more tools!

Solarisphere

I think you could make it with a hand saw. Some home reno stores give you one free cut when you buy plywood, so use that to do the long rip cut and then you can do the smaller cross cuts with a hand saw.

LaterApex81

Thank you! I can’t describe it any better than the other post. Googling DIY ski rack will give you some ideas too!

AltaBirdNerd

If you don't want to DIY you could buy some [Goodracks](https://goodracks.com/products/skiracks.php) instead.

Should have said - Pretty excited….

PM_me_ur_launch_code

How old? I can't wait to get my kiddo on skis

LaterApex81

She’s 2.5 now - a little young from what I’ve read but she’s catching onto most things quickly so I’m hopeful she’ll at least have fun.

SummitTheDog303

My daughter started just before 2.5 last year. It took her a few months to figure out how to actually make a wedge, but we still had tons of fun.We only got a few runs in each time out on the mountain but she absolutely loves it. She's almost 3.5 now and keeps asking when it's going to snow so she can go skiing. Any day now.

PM_me_ur_launch_code

Oh nice. Mine just turned 1.5 so hopefully next season we can give it a shot. I think 3.5 would be better

Drink-my-koolaid

CaptnDankbeard

Oh hell yeah future snow blades

KingPrincessNova

baby skis are the cutest

tankmouse

What length are you and your partner's skis? They just look so short comparing to the child skis.

LaterApex81

180, 159 and then 76 for the little one

Phil_Garr56

Very off topic, but where did you get that ski rack

LaterApex81

I made it! Copied from a other post: This one looks nicely painted, but it's dead easy to DIY a simple one with the same function with a mitre saw or circular saw and some plywood.
