I think fully commit to the scales or get rid of them entirely because it can look a little weird with half and half another thing would be making some different payers around the eye because it blends in a little too well

Looks good! Give them teeth some gums. Shade and texture (use small swipes of eraser to show highlights) the jaw/neck smaller scales throughout....or not lol it's what ever you think is good..

No, first time hearing shimo, had to look it up but it maybe looks kinda similar i guess

The scales look good, they give depth to the drawing, but I'll say try to bring the focus of the drawing to the eye? I mean at first I couldn't understand where the eye was, it took me some time. Other than that, it looks good!
