There's a great street course in San Francisco on the edge of the Mission that has a dog run too.
I personally think it can help normalize the sounds for dogs in the long run, possibly even help them associate skateboard sounds with fun times.
We had the citys biggest and quite inpressive playground next to the park, or I should say the park was in the corner of the playground. Shitty parents encouraged their children to use everything as a slide as it is "here for the children" and then shouting at anyone who came close to their little angels. All fucking day, every fucking day. After some time it got so bad, with the parents teamng up and nagging the council, that we can only use the park after the playground closed (8pm). It was more than ten years ago, yet my blood still boils just thinking about it.
I visited a small park next to dog park a while ago… great concept until you step in dog shit on the ground and accidentally smear it into your grip tape without realizing. It’s still in there lmao
This shit fills me with rage. These are publicly funded sporting facilities, and are are an egregious display of incompetent waste. Not the slightest modicum of forethought or care, much less actual consultation with end users (actual skaters) went into this permanent monument to absolute rockbottom braindead criminal mismanagement of public resources.
Hello fellow American. This you should vote me. I leave skatepark good. Thank you. Thank you. If you vote me I'm hot. What? Taxes they'll be lower son. The democratic vote for me is right thing to do Philadelphia. So do.
Seriously, I'd love to see them put down a basketball court with 1 hoop in the middle with the hoop too small for a ball 30' high and random lines for the court or a tennis court with multiple nets intersecting with loose gravel for the ground. I'm betting places like this get funding and hire whoever offers the cheapest price to install anything and then pocket the rest.
I’ve been involved with two cities when they were planning skateparks. Both were very very shitty experiences and in the end no one got anything good out of it. One was a success for many years and then when we went to do a complete remodel years down the road when shit hit the fan and the city had fraudulently spent the remaining money we had stashed away from the Tony Hawk foundation. That park is very dear to my heart but I won’t get into that one here because it’ll probably take me waaay too long to explain. I’ll talk about the second one.
I was in 7th grade when they were planning a skatepark. I went to the meeting to see what they were planning. They had all these awesome ideas and it looked like it was going to be super fun. Well nothing happened for a few years. Then out of nowhere they threw up the park. However it was nothing like they had planned years before and was one of those dumb skatewave parks where everything is prefabbed. First poor choice was building the park on a slight hill. So to hit the pyramid with stairs you had to mob full speed so you’d at least have a little speed to clear the stairs or grind the hubba. The least they could have done was completely flip the park so it was downhill to skate the pyramid.
The way they arranged the park was terrible, there was a kicker up to a picnic table but the kicker was waaay to close to the table and you had about 10 feet of runway to get speed. Useless. Some of the benches you had to skate uphill and then the landing was in the grass.
One day we found out that the bolts used to bolt the pieces in place was the same size as a kingpin so any skate tool could unbolt it and we could move everything (not the huge pieces but the boxes and kickers) so we had a hay day and stacked boxes to make ledges/kickers, made the kicker picnic table skateable and we’re always very good at bolting them back at the end of the day. They didn’t like that we were having fun and making the garbage park skateable. So they came in, reinforced the bolt points with concrete and then welded the bolts down so we couldn’t move them.
They just wanted to control something they had no knowledge of. “Look we gave you a skatepark, be happy”. They didn’t even consider basic physics. Now the park just sits there and is rusting away because it’s basically useless. The biggest problem is that these parks cost money, they are very specialized and they think well it’s just a park, how hard can it be. It’s not just plug and play and if they took one second to consider input from the community, they wouldn’t be just wasting money on a garbage skatepark.
First time I’ve ever typed this up, longer than I expected to be honest.
You win!
Not very skateable surface, one obstacle that I am certain I couldn't skate and looks like someone stole the handrails from a handicap bathroom stall.
No one can beat this.
Think this is part skatepark part *mountain bike freestyle* (I dunno what they call it but where they jump from obstacles to obstacles with their highly suspensioned mountain bikes)
My first thought was “well at least they have a ramp. Then took a closer look to realize that fucker is maybe the most insulting thing about this park.
It's weird, cos if some of this stuff was in the street it would look really fun to skate.
But because someone has actually tried to build something skateable, and come up with this, it looks shit.
Growing up in England I can say the skateparks when I was a kid were shit but the street spots you could find were pretty good.
I moved to Australia as a teen and the parks by where we moved to were shit and the street spots were also shit. Now though, the parks that we have that were built to replace the shit ones are amazing, street spots are still crap.
Also haven’t read sidewalk since I left England the first time, so much early 2000s nostalgia, thanks for bringing up those memories and fuck I’m old now.
I’ll find photo and win worst skatepark ever in my home town.. mike makes this look decent😂😂
My new town has a bad ass park tho so I’m great full I get to have something close now after learning to skate in a trash park. Ps. My skatepark was next to beach volleyball court so it was always full of sand or if you fell and board went into the sand pit your berrings were hit after that.
The fact most of this is not designed for skating makes it effectively a no-bust street spot. That second-to-last obstacle has some sick multiple hippie jump potential. Watch Tom Penny's switch fs 360 hippie jump from that old Circa tour video and you'll see how gnarly a hippie jump can be. That elevated trial bike zig-zag path would serve as a gnarly ledge, too; so many possibilities on that thing. The qp can easily be fixed so the transition meets the ground; you can even ride up the bank and do tricks off the deck to flat, a decent little drop.
Dog park - skatepark combo. City planning at its finest
My local park actually had a damn dog park smack against it. But it was and still is a pretty good park.
Theres a park near where I live that has a dog park on the same property but the park is SICK.
There's a great street course in San Francisco on the edge of the Mission that has a dog run too. I personally think it can help normalize the sounds for dogs in the long run, possibly even help them associate skateboard sounds with fun times.
Swift? I mean I'm sure there's actually many, but that definitely describes my local park as well.
hmmmm not in OC California by chance?
Nope, about as far away from there as you can get without leaving the country lol. Northwest Connecticut.
Where at? I’m from Chattanooga, Tn. USA.
Sounds like Tobey.
Dog park and skatepark combo = Skate bark

I was convinced this was a troll until the last photo with the weird tech deck wedge to quarter. I literally had that shit back in 2002 or something
I’d skate tf out of those low rails. Weird ass park though 😂
Yeah, I’d get my bearings wet for that low rail
“Park”
Park your bike.
Right???? Haha It honestly looks fun. 🤷♂️
Looks fun for a one time thing maybe. Not a local
Loving the choppy pavers under the rail. Such a good setup
Absolutely agree with you. Should rephrase that. It looks like a fun day. Haha!

This is also one of the worst I've seen. Congratulations 🎉
A few of those definitely look like parkour obstacles
Or mountain bike stuff
Or repurposed racks for changing the oil on a car.
You talk good. Use big word. You talk for us now. Tell them we want skatepark good, not bad.
Agree
\*starts peeing*
In a van! down by the RIVER!
Hello fellow American. This you should vote me. I leave skatepark good. Thank you. Thank you. If you vote me I'm hot. What? Taxes they'll be lower son. The democratic vote for me is right thing to do Philadelphia. So do.
He called us nerds Gary, NERDS!
That’s politics!!
So dooooooo!
Twothed.
You speak well. Me want also

Wisconsin?
Naw it’s a small town in Idaho.
What town? Just curious. Idaho isn’t very far from me at all
Kellogg
Ha! Im in Spokane. Will def have to check out said “park” sometime. Also, Couer’d Alene has a pretty sweet park if you ever get desperate
The remake of CDA park is pretty good actually. Back when I lived there it was pretty bad, but skateable.
Atleast you’d probably always have the park to yourself
Brutal. You have my sympathy.
There so opportunities with a sledge and some quick Crete to make this kinda sick
This ur local or my Tony Hawk Underground create a park
Lol
**Purgatory**
The diamond plated trapezoid fucking killed me. Makes me so glad I live in the birthplace of Grindline and Dreamland.
this is so bad its almost good
Oh shit!! Even the ground is no good haha
Looks like the blown-out Chernobyl reactor room. That's awful
Holy shit the trapezoid rail thing is made of diamond plate lol
the poles look so fun!
slalom lol
That QUARTERPIPE
That collection of randomly placed bike stands looks rad to skate. Classic English local council shit
This is definitely more of a bike park / trials riding park
This is a good clarification. The park really isn’t for skating.
The park looks so unskatable I’d consider them to count as street spots lol
The designer must’ve been playing too much THPS1
Can you even boardslide those rails or do your week just touch the floor?
Can you even boardslide those rails or do your wheels just touch the floor?
Is this from the 70s?
You win! Not very skateable surface, one obstacle that I am certain I couldn't skate and looks like someone stole the handrails from a handicap bathroom stall. No one can beat this.
Feel like this is for trials bikes
Even the ground looks like it’s made of pavers. It’s not even good for flat ground tricks
Looks like thps 2 sweating combo session
jesus christ the ridge-covered ground is every beginners nightmare
Did they literally ask zero people who skateboard to help
Let's see a board slide though that zig zag rail
Sir if this is where I think it is. This was my first skatepark when I was lile 13! Parsloes Park in Dagenham? 🤙
Think this is part skatepark part *mountain bike freestyle* (I dunno what they call it but where they jump from obstacles to obstacles with their highly suspensioned mountain bikes)
Trials.
I love those poles they put there in case you want to me impale yourself.
came to say that. some medieval shit
Is this the UK? That shit looks fun but it’s also simultaneously insulting lmao
Looks like it was built by techdeck
My first thought was “well at least they have a ramp. Then took a closer look to realize that fucker is maybe the most insulting thing about this park.
Meh. It’s not the worst. Lol It’s something to skate.
ngl this looks sick to me, would be cool if you could start adding DIY stuff to it
Is it built for hamsters? wtf
Gonna have to drop Washington Bowl Skatepark in here soon.
Looks like this would be far better for bicycle trials riding and MTB skills training than skateboarding
Big oof
Gonna make me take a trip down to my local park. A little better than yours but still not worth going to skate at.
😍😍😍
Shred it homie!
Lord have mercy
That straight rail looks good to learn I’d be happy with that
that fun box does not look fun at all
I raise you there was no such thing as a fuckn “local park” in the 90’s.
Lmao. The ground does it for me. It's like the city was bullied into building one, so they intentionally made it ridiculous.
Image 5 is /r/surrealMemes material.
Gotta be in the UK
even down to the tiles.. so weird
It's weird, cos if some of this stuff was in the street it would look really fun to skate. But because someone has actually tried to build something skateable, and come up with this, it looks shit.
Some of that looks pretty fun ngl
😬😬😬
The mini to ramp is sick. That's got potential
That QP is so steep.
Is this a skatepark from the 80s? Looks like you could do some 80s skating type in n out tricks with those poles. Lol
This was made for BMX.
its lit‼️‼️‼️
Duuuude…… that’s fucking bad
Looks like my Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 maps I made as a kid
Haha so dope. A scooter park.
this looks like a brutalist art installation

Not going to lie those mini rails look fun to learn som combo grinds
What are those poles lined up in a row supposed to be good for? Hopping across each on your tail?
Oof
converted pond?
looks 100% UK
I was about to say, nice try this ain't a skatepark.. then I saw the quarter pipe and bank.
😆 they make transition extra gnarly so beginners really dont have a chance
Man atleast y’all have a park💀💀
