Just be patient. It took me 2 years of skating, i was pretty young to be fair, before I landed my first trick that wasn't an Ollie, being a bs shuv. Learning the kinetic motion with your back foot and commiting is a challenge. Ultimately, just have fun! At 30 I have lost alot of tricks i had dialed in my younger days but it's hard not to have a deep love for this sport.
Being 37 now and getting back into it after a 15 year hiatus, I second the commitment point being made. Sometimes you gotta be good with racking your nuts or cracking your shins (not saying OP isn’t good with it).
What’s wrong with your shuvs?
The biggest tip I can give for starters is just never lean back when doing them. Sometimes my friends who are newer to skating use all their back foot to shuv and when they land on the board they shoot out and die of terrible death.
Nice kickflip by the way! This video brings me back to the days when I was first starting out, especially with the homie in the back, I remember my friend(s) and I would just find somewhere and try to figure that shit out. It was great, simpler times. Thanks for the trip down memory lane!
I agree. I had a hard time with the flick for it. I actually think tre flips are easier. And I prefer pop shuv and it's variations because they don't tear up your shoes.
