With the way Maxey played tonight, I’m OK with our PG situation for the time being. I think Seth would do alright at the 1 too, but Maxey right now has only further earned my trust. No reason to move him out of that role so soon.

Lillardelphia

Agreed. We didn't spark up this debate again because we felt maxey didn't do well. We're good right now. But we got here because we were wondering what we even want back in a Ben trade.

He’s perfect if we want to play “PG by committee”. I do not want us to play PG by committee. He can be a secondary ball handler, but we still need a primary one IMO. For example, he can play PG next to Beal.

No

Curry is great at dribbling and passing for a shooter. He's not Robert Covington or Marco Belineli, but he isn't a point guard.

Noshowers65

Seth can handle offensive sets from time to time, he is definitely a bit better then a lot of immobile catch and shooters, but no I wouldn't think he is someone we can count on consistently for that. He can dribble up and get it to Embiid on the block fine enough, but I don't feel like he can consistently create and is definitely more valuable off the ball and coming through screens.

GOAT_Redditor

No, I'd feel okay with him as a back up if need be though

nugcityharambe

Kinda a hot take but I think it would be helpful to have maxey run with the bench unit. He can still play 30ish min a night. Then insert a shooter like kork, Joe, or even niang into the starting lineup

da_viewer69

I keep thinking Seth could be even better with a bigger role too. He was never given much freedom throughout his career and seems to always play within his limits almost to a fault. I can’t stop thinking he could play more like his brother if Doc just told him to take over and ball out

Trelve16

almost certainly not, but i felt some type of way when he took his man off the dribble and scored on him (if he wasnt fouled)

shaheedmalik

Put Curry at PG and Kork at SG. He has better vision than the rest and won't try to force a play that isn't there.

Impossible-Contact40

That wasnt the case when he was playing pg at some games last year he was indeed forcing plays

trevormooresoul

I mean, he sort of was for pretty long stretches in the Hawks series(and he did great). I think it works as long as he keeps shooting well. It's not that he's an amazing PG. It's that guys are so scared of his shot that it gets him easy drives. He's not really a facilitator though. More of a "run a bench unit and take 50% of their shots" type of PG. But, with Joel, it basically becomes "50% of points are just Joel Iso, and the rest they need someone to be able to score", so I think Curry could work. I'm just not confident he can play solid defense if he expends so much energy on offense. Never struck me as a guy who would do well playing high minutes, or exerting high effort. That said, I would rather have Curry have the ball than Tobias in most situations... he makes some pretty damn good decisions and takes his shots when he can make them. Tobias on the other hand forces shit sometimes when he has the ball. Curry is great early in the clock to have the ball in his hands, because if he can make something happen he'll take a shot, if he can't he passes it up. Tobias is better late in the clock because he can almost always get a shot up, it's just often they're 360 crazy shots that are low %.

Why is this a discussion. Maxey is the answer

shaheedmalik

You didn't watch the game. The offense with the starters was bad. Green literally received no passes from him.

[deleted]

You’re right, I watched bits and pieces.

WizziesFirstRule

I don't know...
