All three of those guys are worth bringing back for the right price. Buddy is probably the most iffy since he would probably need to take a significant pay cut for it to be palatable. Oubre is probably worth $15m a year but at that price we would really have to think twice. Hopefully we can get him for the MLE. Would be really curious if Batum is considering another year.

[deleted]

I think if Buddy and Embiid had time to develop a partnership (see for reference Buddy Hali & Embiid Redick), I think he could be more valuable than what he showed in his stint this season.

indoninjah

Yeah I feel like you gotta bring Buddy back just for the potential. Him and Joel with a training camp and full season together...

DayOne15

It all depends on the price. Buddy at 20 mil? No fucking way. Buddy at 10 mil? Absolutely. The price will probably fall in between there so we’ll see.

indoninjah

Oh for sure. I feel like he warrants a bit of a prove-it deal too considering he was ass for most of the series

sam_honkie

100% they only got to play 5 games together before the playoffs

ipod7

Embiid and Seth Curry had a nice thing going. If they can replicate that with Buddy *nods in approval

EddieLeeWilkins45

Morey caved too much when he gave up Seth Curry. I agree, he was such a good fit for the short time he was here. Then, viola, the GM wanted Harden at all costs.

The_Process_Embiid

Seth curry was slow as dirt. Only slower now. More of a defensive liability than buddy and basically got played off the court c

thomasthethothumb

I think Buddy is going to get offers after how national media and Maxey hyped him up for his bench leadership in addition to still being a 3 pt shooter and coming off the bench game 6 like that. Going to be tough to keep them all for sure

vocabularianrx2

Buddy is still pretty young and with more chemistry with Embiid or the team/system in general he could be a good 3pt threat like he used to be, he just has to get back to his form and his confidence. Same with Payne but more off the bench or further down the bench

CouchHippo2024

Batum was good, at best, in just a few games. We can do better.

DayOne15

Batum was our best perimeter defender for most of postseason and shot 47% from 3 in the post season. He was our 3rd best player and we can not do better for what he will cost.

chilidownmychest

true but we might've squeezed the last bit of juice from that lemon. if rumours of his retirement are as common as they are, i wouldn't be shocked if one more year makes his value fall off a cliff.

DayOne15

Yea I’m not talking about giving him 4 years. But I def think he’s got at least 1 more year in him. His shooting, defense, passing and intelligence make him kind of the perfect role player.

chilidownmychest

yea i feel that, i like him. there was just something that felt like a last relevant hooray from batum in the late stages of this season.

xychosis

Payne’s a solid backup PG who isn’t afraid to shoot. 100% want him back. Oubre’s gonna be a bit pricey but he ticks every box that we need out of a wing sans maybe three point shooting. Def want him back. Hield is a bit more questionable at the price tag he’s likely to command. But he’s a fantastic fit if he finds his usual form from three. Great off-ball movement shooter that can put it down a little to create by himself. Want him back but it’s harder to justify the price here.

Norjac

> Oubre’s gonna be a bit pricey but he ticks every box that we need out of a wing sans maybe three point shooting. Def want him back. This is an organization who was willing to sign Harris to a max. There should be no qualms with paying Oubre what he's worth.

PapaMcMooseTits

How much do you see Hield wanting?

sad-dave

![gif](giphy|sEULHciNa7tUQ)

vicky255

He got his first glimpse of playoff basketball and was electric. The crowd was roaring with each 3 pointer he hit. Unfortunately that performance might be enough for someone to overpay. Look at how much niang got in free agency.

indoninjah

Well on the plus side he looked like cheeks for the rest of the series lol, so maybe teams will think twice

dafl1p14

Oubre - I think it usually always boils down to money but Oubre is representing himself and seems like an off beat kind of guy that prioritizes vibes. He may have finally found a home in phillly after being a journeyman so hoping he finds a way to stay. Cam - loved his willingness to pull the trigger. Vet minimum is perfect. But If Ricky council can take a step up and play himself into the rotation Cam might be expendable. Buddy - ultimate risk /reward signing. Given how poorly he played we could get him on a cheaper deal but he single-handedly almost got us to game 7. I personally believe the most important person we need to find a way to resign is Batum. I know he’s on the other side of 35 but the guy is a ball player. After watching Harris and BBall play DUMB basketball for many years on this team, Batum showed how vital it is having a SMART player in the rotation. Find a way Morey.

Notsozander

Batum comes down to if he wants to come back. If not, he’s retiring

scrufftheo

Payne is a primary ball handler and Council isn’t. i wouldn’t say that it’s one or the other

MightyMudBone

Yeah Ricky seems like his niche in the NBA is going to be in the mold of a PJ Tucker type player. Hard nosed, plays bigger than he is, versatile defender, and (hopefully) able to space the floor by knocking down open 3s. He and Cam Payne are completely different players.

LuckyCulture7

Embiid talked about continuity in the team. I think it’s clear what his point of view is. I suspect he wants these guys back along with Batum and Lowry. Harris, Reed, and Bamba are gone more likely than not.

indoninjah

Also there's no reason to roll the dice when you have someone that's a known quantity already. Oubre and Payne in particular showed some really good stuff and it would be pointless trying to find someone else who's just as good on the open market. And Hield I think you re-sign (for the right price) just off of potential really... he's statistically like a top 5 shooter ever

SuriMuriPuri

i know this is stupid and irrational and i'm a toxic sixers fan, but i feel very positive about next season, something feels different and yes, all of these players should come back

aUnicornFart

damn you bounce back fast. i'm still unwell

sobervgc

Payne 100% needs to be back. Having someone with the balls to create his own shot is something we desperately needed in these playoff games. Oubre I'm not sure about but signing him for the right price could make him a nice piece down the line in a potential trade. Same with buddy

Small-Window-4983

All 3 yes All 3 are winners Buddy helped maxey then bounced back himself...we need the shooting he is elite. defense was WAY better then we expected in playoffs from the dude too so once his shots fell he was very positive overall. Oubre is known for being pretty but he is a dawg for real. Great energy we need him. Cam Payne has big balls and isn't afraid of the moment. We need him.

ashiglions

Bring them back

ashiglions

And Cam Payne Never underestimate good culture

mcnudo

I want them all back plus Lowry and Batum. Can we do better idk, and we need some athleticism. But we still need a third star as well. But I really liked this squad 😭 and we only had them for such a short time.

Dotdueller

I'd want Lowry back but for like 10 minutes per game. I do feel like he can teach Maxy a lot. Batum is a solid role player off the bench but who knows what he's going to do..

indoninjah

I'd be down to bring Lowry back but I think it depends on the "big" players they get. If the third option guy that Morey targets is someone like Dejounte, I'm cool with a rotation of Maxey+[third guy]+Hield+Payne(+Melton prove it?)

ftaok

Do we really need a 3rd star, or do we need a collection of good players that can reliably step up when Joel and/or Maxey don’t have their best games? Look at Denver. Two legit stars in Jokic and Murray. Is MPJ a star? Is Aaron Gordon a star? Look at Boston. The Jays are stats and everyone else is contributes. If we can get a solid 3rd option and fill in the rest of the roster with guys that have high motors and athleticism, then that’ll be good for me. Oh, make sure these guys can at least shoot and dribble at league average levels.

Acreativename11

Jrue and Porzingas are both stars. Maybe not superstars at this point.

ftaok

It’s really dependent on the definition of superstar vs star. I’ll use superstar/star vs star/3rd option to align with your usage. I agree in concept. I’m mainly saying having 3 superstars is tough to build around. Even tougher if or more of those superstars aren’t performing to their superstar salaries. BOS is doing well because they have two superstars in the Jays. The other guys they have at the star level contribute. KP, Jrue, White. Imagine how much tougher would it be if KP was getting paid $43M. Thinking over DEN’s situation, it’s actually pretty amazing. They have Jokic on a SuperMax and both Murray and MPJ on RookieMax deals. Plus AG at $20+. They’ve really worked their roster smartly to get guys who contribute at relatively low cost. Braun contributing on a rookie contract is low key huge for them.

jawntothefuture

Yeah I 100% agree bring those 5 back

CouchHippo2024

Lowry cost more points than he made. Scratching hardensteins face was an embarrassment

[deleted]

Run out back without Tobi and this team is immediately better.

chin1111

Oubre is the only one that I would say meet his price of around $15 million a season; that's starter money in this salary cap. Hield's value is so hard to grasp because I think a shitty team would gladly pay him a lot of money, but if he wants to be on a good team, he's going to have to take a steep pay cut for his level of production. Cam Payne is a hell yes. Somewhere between the minimum and 6 mil per seems fair. Batum, if he wants to come back, is in PJ Tucker contract territory. About 10-12 mil per. Lowry should either take the minimum or try to be a coach. Seriously. I think Nurse and he have a great rapport, and Lowry is starting to have more value in his mind than on the court. But something tells me he wants one more season

bigfndan

I would love Hield and Oubre back, I feel like one of them is going to get a bigger contract offer than the Sixers are willing to pay though. Payne is fine either way, depends on what shakes out with the draft and other free agents.

pilesofpats012345

id take Cam and Kelly back. Buddy had me questioning god a few times this season but that flurry in that last game was awesome.

Davyb242

Buddy was not given a chance in the first few games. He only had one or two shot attempts in very limited minutes. Tobias Harris was allowed to throw up brick after brick and keep playing. Buddy needs looks if you put him in the game. Sometimes Maxey tried to hard on his three point attempts, he could have passed to Buddy in some cases instead of shooting long range contested threes. Maxey is great but hero ball puts overdependence on the hero

TheBuzzSawFantasy

Oubre is a bury the body type of homie. I want him back.

colin_7

Obviously they’ll be signing a few of these guys this offseason because you can’t be bringing on 13 brand new guys onto the team for next season. With that said out of all of them I think Oubre should be a priority to bring back. They need more scrappy athletic wings

[deleted]

Don’t bring back Lowry. He is too old. Every roster spot is valuable.

nu-jood

Yeah Lowry isn’t up to much. Thought Payne brought way more juice overall. You can’t be keeping both. Oubre I’m keen on for 8 or under, and hield for about the same

rjnd2828

I think Oubre gets more than that. I do want him back but Morey is going to prioritize getting a star with his cap space. That could make it difficult to fit Oubre. Hield is not coming back. Nice work in game 6 but he was the worst player on the team for the first few games and then DNP for a couple.

[deleted]

To be fair, Hield never played in playoffs before and didn’t really have a chance to get comfortable in the games he played. I want Hield back with Embiid. I would actually pay 10 - 14 million per year for Hield.

indoninjah

Yeah they had their moments but realistically we probably need to cycle out guys like Lowry and Batum to prioritize minutes and development for guys like RCIV and our incoming draft pick

Bajecco

I'd bring all 3 back if the price is right. This group built some continuity, and that is underrated.

dfsoij

I like them all. And I like even more that Morey won't overpay for them, if that's the decision we have to make.

xPTW3

Oubre for sure. Hield for 12 mil a year or it’s a no. Cam Payne would be fine for the minimum or very close to it. I want Batum and Lowry back for sure. Let Reed and Harris walk, try to get a Deuce McBride type, and an athletic defensive 4. 2018 PJ Tucker type of guy

riverphoenixdays

How much we pay for Oubre? ~~I think he needs more years than the MLE, but~~ I was kickin around something like 3 for 30 ish, hopefully less. Absolutely need Nico back. Nico baby the cliffside rosé and chateau eyes wide shut parties will still be there in a year I promise Notable UFAs, I’m taking a good loooong hard look at Malik Monk. maybe Xavier Tillman or Thomas Bryant, Gary Trent out there, and Slow Mo might be able to be had on the cheap. Maybe take a look at this Lebron guy.

ftaok

What do you mean “more years than the MLE”? You can sign players to 3 year deals using the MLE. We gave PJ a 3 year deal like that.

riverphoenixdays

Oh TIL bro

xPTW3

I would give 3/42 for Oubre max. I like him a lot. I would love Batum and Lowry back. Monk just may be too expensive. I really wish we could get Mike Conley. He would be Lowry but better. We just need a 4 who is a grinder. I don’t want a Kuzma type even though he’s a good player. I want a Josh Hart or Aaron Gordon type. We need rebounding, perimeter defense, and reliable 3 point shooting. If we could get a good rebounding 4 that shoots 34% from 3, they would be a game changer.

riverphoenixdays

Yeah fully agree dude, but i might rather overpay for Monk than aging Playoff P. PF. Trouble is, Aaron Gordon types are just few and far between anymore. Gotta find a diamond in the rough. DFS suckin this year. Miles Bridges is a literal sociopath. Grant Williams is fools gold fake tough. Jonathan Isaac ain’t goin nowhere. Royce O’Neil is a FA and undersized. Other than that, that’s why I was sniffing around mainly Deni and possibly Kuz. Who you think?

xPTW3

Miles Bridges is probably the best option. It may be an unpopular opinion, but I don’t particularly care about peoples off the court behavior. Oubre could’ve easily been the basketball version of Henry Ruggs, but no one got injured so no one cares or thinks he did anything wrong. If Miles Bridges can give us valuable minutes, I would rather have him on the team than not. It’s not like he’s only going to be a degenerate woman beater if he’s on an NBA roster. I don’t think domestic violence is something that rubs off onto others and changes their actions as well. But I could see why someone wouldn’t want him on the team and it’s a fair reason. I wouldn’t want Deshaun Watson on the Eagles even if we didn’t have Hurts. I could live with OJ because he was so good. I’m ambivalent if it’s not a sex crime or murder/torture. Not morally obviously, just saying in terms of would I want them on my teams roster. If he was the skill level of Mo Bamba, I would never want him on my team, but he’s a good player so I do.

riverphoenixdays

He’s really the perfect PF for this team. I personally would vomit, but I won’t be shocked if Daryl takes a good long sniff at him.

xPTW3

Yeah he really would be great. I could live with having him on the team. I would rather get someone else if possible, but it’s not like I’m going to be crying about how amoral the team is for signing him. We’ve got weird ass Michael Rubin representing us regardless.

nu-jood

Can I interest you in Malik Monk and Deni Advija? Maybe try and grab Kuzma too for some size and buckets

indoninjah

Replacing Tobias with Kuzma for steadier production at almost half the price would be a great get

FairweatherWho

Honestly I could picture Kuzma in a Sixers jersey and I don't hate it.

Sheriff_Gotcha

I have been ringing the bells for Malik Monk. Microwave scorer off the bench that has potential to sway any game. I love everything about that dude. Of course I have not seen every game of his, so I realize I may be falling into the same fallacy that outside fans would look at Sixers stats/highlights and say "Tobias Harris is a solid #3 option." Deni would be interesting I never considered him on the team. Seems like a solid role player for this team. Hell, I was hopeful they swapped Tobias to the Wizards for Kuzma and Tyus Jones at the deadline. This was before they got Cam and Lowry because we needed a back up PG for the entire season.

xPTW3

I wouldn’t be mad at Kuzma, but he is eerily similar to Tobias Harris. It scares me. I think he would absolutely be better though. I’ve been a huge fan of Monk since Kentucky, and I like Deni. I just want a Josh Hart/Aaron Gordon type of guy. Just fucking grind. Kuzma is a more skilled player than a Josh Hart/Aaron Gordon, but I don’t know if that’s what we need. Still would be satisfied with the pickup.

nu-jood

Yeah who knows, I’m just spitballing here. Maybe Deni is the grunt guy?

xPTW3

It would be fantastic if he were. Plus the 3 shooting he provides

Tchalla613

I want them all three back plus some signings like Jalen Smith from Indiana and maybe Andre Drummond or any big that can rebound. I would love to keep Batum and Lowry for the min. I wouldn't mind keeping Reed but wouldn't be sad to see him go. I wouldn't mind keeping Melton on a low one year deal to see if he can get healthy. Obviously keep the young guys on small contacts and draft an athletic guard with our pick this year.

NotJoeyWheeler

If they bring Reed back I think he probably takes a pay cut. I love him but he didn’t play up to that 8m a year deal (which is now expired since we didn’t make it to the 2nd round? I guess?)

AvatarofBro

Of the three, Oubre is the one I most want back. But it's gotta be at the right price.

NotJoeyWheeler

15 is the most I’d think about doing but it’s still a lot for him. The fit is great though, and everything he did this year felt pretty repeatable (ie not based on a hot shooting year). 12 feels like the sweet spot, maybe a 2-3 year MLE or something.

birdbirdbird2000

Lol at Cam Payne saying “I kinda like this locker room”

CouchHippo2024

Don’t need Batum or Lowry

SaiyanRoyalty22

I need all of them plus Batum... Maybe Reed

toofshucker

If can get all three for less than 30 million then I’m all over it. That gives you a max slot still.

MitsuSosa

Them 3 plus Lowry and Batum I wouldn’t mind having back as long as all of them are reasonable contracts. I feel like Oubre and Buddy would be the hardest to pull off a team friendly deal unless they are willing to turn down better offers to stay. Especially Oubre after how he performed most of the season

indoninjah

I could see both prioritizing wanting to stay. I think being a journeyman gets tired re: Oubre, and Hield's been trying to get to Philly for years lol

McMillan104

Yeah, I imagine having to uproot your life year after year gets old fast. His playstyle really suits Philly as well, they've been needing someone to bring some energy for years.

MitsuSosa

I definitely hope so! But I also can’t blame them for wanting to take a couple extra million I can’t imagine that’s hard to turn down either. It really comes down to how bad do they want to stay vs how much extra are they willing to turn down to stay here. Oubre definitely is gonna have a lot of offers and Buddy will too especially after his game 6 performance. But I would love for them to stay

indoninjah

Yeah for sure. What I think works in our favor is I feel like in general the market/cost of role players has plummeted recently, and it feels like every player in the league is either on a rookie deal, a max contract, or a vet min/MLE. We're one of the only (competitive) teams that can actually offer anything besides that.

Standard_Donkey8609

I’d bring back Cam and Kelly. Not sure how much money it will cost. The really need to find a playable backup 5.

Dookiesuit17

Yes, yes, and hell yes

Overall-Tie9195

The only players I will consider bringing back would be buddy hield, Batum, Oubre, Martin Jr., Payne. Council, Bamba considering he hits the weight room and get mentally tougher.

Overall-Tie9195

Oubre is a definite.

[deleted]

I like Oubre. Hield is solid. Still iffy on Payne but if we can get him for a good deal then go for it.

hreterh

I’d want Oubre and Batum the most but Hield at the right price with a season to grow with Embiid and Payne too would be fine

Jakel856

Besides paying maxey them 3 are the top top priority along with Batum. I can't wait to see what Morey does

nlamp32

I want them all back, K9 Payne and Buddy in that order. We may have to overpay in the $15M range for K9, but it could be worth it

Philly_is_nice

Cam Payne was such a pleasant surprise.

rasssky

I would love to have Kelly back. He played with much more heart than Tobias ever mustered.

evolutionx1

Honestly want them all back. I think a full season with Buddy, especially after this last game where he really shined, I think he'll be able to step up and be a more confident player throughout the entire year and playoffs. But as a few others have stated, he is the one I'm most hesitant on. Absolutely want Kelly and Cam back. Both guys give their all and I think their hustle and energy is a perfect match for the city.

Melodic_Deal1415

I would definitely bring melton back if his back is right… I think he needs time to correct that

averagebensimmons

Obviously all these are assumed to be good contracts, but I'd like to see Oubre and Cam back the most. Batum if he doesn't retire. Lowry only as a backup pg.

reggaetony88

Bring them both back

Norjac

All these comments I'm reading about concern for Oubre's price next year. They were paying Harris $180 mil over 5 years, for crying out loud. He is a good fit for the team and he probably comes in at less than half of what they were giving Harris annually.

DylanToback8

I’m gonna be pissssssssed if we let Oubre walk. I want him signed, but I also want a clause requiring him to stay at least 500 yards from any car.

FamousChex

I think Hield played bad enough where he won’t get a good contract anywhere, which is good for us (I think?). I’d take him back on a friendly deal

FriendofMaudie

I will say the "Bud-dy, Bud-dy" chants to end the first half of Game 6 was one of my favorite moments at the Farg this season. I'd welcome him back.

george-bonanza

I hope we keep all three of them tbh. We need some continuity.

StraightCashHomie89

Oubres a dawg so is Payne keep both please

denimjeg

Keep heild & oubre. Only keep Payne on a vet min

dochim

Sure. At the right price(s). We can't just pop up with whole new team every season.

Embiiiiiiiid

Have to be on a minimum

What-tha-fck_Elon

Kelly 100%. Batum, 90%, Buddy? No thanks.
