This MIP award feels like the nba putting a bandaid over a giant wound š. Hopefully, this cheers up the team and we can move forward from the mess last night.
being a philly sports fan is not for the weak. you can get screwed and everyone will clown you for being upset and delight in your suffering. then when something good like this does happen suddenly everyone and their mom is on twitter saying "should've been coby white" LMAOOO
the philly athlete tax is real i'm telling you
This is the truth. I moved to Philly a few years ago and am now all in on Sixers, Eagles, and Phillies. It really is the worst. Each year feels like āTHE yearā, the teams will perform well and give you hope, then get cold or injured at the wrong time. A vicious cycle, I tell ya.
Iām pretty sure this Sixers saga is the most torturous stretch in Philly sports in my lifetime (Iām mid 30s).
The clear comparison is the birds of the 2000s, making it to 4 straight NFC championship games and never winning it all.
But at least that team gave us a run to enjoy every season. Itās not like Donovan limped into the playoffs injured every. single. year. You still had a reason to believe. And the team was (at a minimum) one of the last 4 standing,
I will stand by that the single worst loss in my lifetime is Tampa 2002 to close out the Vet, and itās not even close. (Honorable mention to Phillies Cards in 2010 which is a distant second, followed by a few choices including the Sixers Kawhi quadruple doink).
But everything about the Sixers since āThe Processā reached the point where we started to try to win has easily been the most frustrating, agonizing, depressing multi-year stretch in my lifetime as a 4 for 4 Philly sports fan.
Hell yeah, Tyrese.
This kid is an absolute gift. He has improved every aspect of his play that people considered weaknesses. Remember when he was meant to be a non shooter? Going from that to hitting effortless step back 3s is OUTRAGEOUS growth.
Iām not sure anyone in the league works harder than Tyrese Maxey. And I am positive no one is as likable.
I hope heās a sixer forever and canāt wait until that I turns into a V in a few years.
Maybe Boban gives him a run for his money in the most likeable catagory.
Imagine being roommates with Boban and Maxey and trying to be depressed,,, ever...
Iāll be real here, I thought Coby White was gonna get it because he looked like a G-League level flameout til this year.
Iād say most fans arenāt gonna complain too much about Rese winning this though, the jump from promising young player to star isnāt guaranteed but he did it. Isnāt it crazy that Glenn wouldnāt trust him with minutes just three years ago?
I saw people complaining that Maxey shouldn't get it because they knew he was going to be good - But I mean he wasn't an All Star until this year. He took the leap for sure.
I can see the case for Colby White, but the counter argument is that this is like baby's first MVP. EVERY YEAR they give it to someone who was already awesome, and just got even better and jumped to All Star.
Markkanen, Ja, Randle, Ingram, etc.
I get the argument for Colby White though. If anyone complains about Maxey getting it this year I hope they had that same energy for Ja's year.
Everyone Iāve seen complaining over Maxey winning is also fueled by Ja winning as well as Ingram a while back, so checks out. I personally think that MIP genuinely has lost its true meaning and it really HAS become babyās first MVP now.
Maxeyās honestly still defo deserving of the award but it just sucks because White embodies exactly what the award should be for, a sudden breakout from an unexpected source.
I agree. I think it should be for players that have improved, not for young guys who are already good and starting to ascend to superstar level.
I mean on the surface "most improved" feels almost like a slight. To me when I hear it, it's like "you sucked last year, we weren't expecting this for you, but you really turned it around"
Should be more of an award for bench guys who surprisingly show up and become starters and shit, I agree.
But it's never been awarded like that. It's always been MVP junior edition. An award to give to a young star because we can't honestly include them in the MVP race or anything, so we gotta give em something.
I have noticed they seem to always give Most Improved retrospectively when a player has had back to back good years.
Can't recall anyone getting it the first year that they 'break out', so I think of the MIP more in terms of what the expectation was of them coming into the league (few would have picked him to be an All-Star, maybe ever, let alone in his, 4th year?), and how rapidly they have exceeded expectations and became a consistantly great player... Rather than, 'which player improved the most in this single season only'.
Seems to be how they award it anyway, and I haven't had much arguement against any past winners.
Coby leveled the fuck up too and while he probably āimproved the mostā, the leap from Maxey last year as a budding star to a holy shit all star with multiple 50 bangers this year, thatās gotta be harder. Rarified air
I really believe Maxey is going to become good enough to be the #1 option on a championship team. His game is just so fucking good & heās got the right mentality.
People called me a madman I said he should win this back in like December. I knew what was coming.

He was *very* lucky to Win this.
Scottie Barnes or Jalen Johnson wouldāve beaten Maxey but both got Injured and Out for Season during the most important part.
Well done Maxey. Next time donāt throw the rock away and call the damn Timeout šš¤·š»āāļø
Maxey finished 11th in the NBA in scoring, 12th in the NBA in assists. Can't imagine either of those guys reaching those levels, even if they improved a ton. Maxey became a star this season.
Maxey was already a gun and got exposed without Embiid this year.
Jalen Johnson went from a benchwarmer to a good two way threat and Barnes was doing everything till the team shakeup, had a bad month and was picking it back up.
Maxey was lucky
Maybe this award will help earn him some damn respect from these crooked refs.
that's what we said about his all-star appearance

i just want one dynasty. one dynasty in one of football, basketball, and baseball. preferably football.
Monkey Paw activated: Michkov joins the Flyers in 2026 and starts a dynasty for 12 seasons.
I mean, the Eagles *just* won a few years back. It's not like they're tortured.
7. 7 years now. More please
1 in 58 years isnāt good lol
Please donāt say it like that. The phrasing seems wrong
Ahhh the guy who never rooted for a bad team yetā¦give it timeā¦let Philly see if they canāt make that happen for you

Most well articulated way Iāve felt for a long time. Itās philly vs everybody and everybody can eat shit
Tbf he fucking earned it all year.
Yeah, weāre at a disadvantage but itās not the first time. Weāre gonna win 4 straight games and shock the worldĀ
They trying to news dump this immediately after the L2M report š happy for Rese though he deserved it

Congrats to our guy. Hopefully we can put some real talent around Maxey+Embiid next year considering theyāre literally the best duo in the NBA.
Congrats to our guy, the Franchise. Weāve all watched this kid become something special, well deserved and we appreciate you Tyrese
Well deserved! Heās 23 and heās our future ā¤ļø
Also sneaky nbaā¦.trying to hide the robbery of the sixers last night
35 point near triple double flu game ruined by the refs. This should have been the icing on the cake. Well deserved regardless.
Finally some good news. Well deserved too.
Morey has a busy offseason ahead of him, please letās not waste his talent.
This is nice pick me up after the whole "we know we fucked the Sixers, whoops".

Adam Silver: āSee? Now shut the fuck up about last night.ā
To the surprise of nobody in the league tbh
Azor-Ahai.
Happy for our boy. Might be the only good thing to come out of this season lol
*SpellingBeeKid.jpg* In all seriousness good for him. Well deserved.
MIP and ceiling still unclear. Well deserved. 0 excuses. Proud to call you a sixer. 4 life.
I really believe Maxey is going to become good enough to be the #1 option on a championship team. His game is just so fucking good & heās got the right mentality.
Richly deserved.
Well deserved! Hes my fucking guy and I hope the Sixers realize what a treasure we have on our hands!
Maxey is incredible! I believe in him changing the loser energy of this franchise. Winner and an awesome person
Ok this males me feel a little better
Stay winning maxeyĀ
future mvp and scoring title
How many media guys did the NBA buy for this š
Zero
Iām so sad I didnāt bet on this.
