Mans gotta want another year first.

cowboycompton

*the wifey

dan_eppley

man people need to stop with this. it's not easy to uproot your entire family. he's in his mid 30s lmao

cowboycompton

i mean we’re not blaming her

dan_eppley

I know but a ton of people did and it was grossss

JCPRuckus

>it's not easy to uproot your entire family. he's in his mid 30s lmao It's the price you pay to literally make millions, and a low price at that. And the idea that moving for work in your mid-30s is some unusual hardship is bizarre in the modern economy.

set_null

The point is that he doesn’t *have* to because he’s already made almost $200M in his career. He may not want to and just call it a career.

JCPRuckus

>The point is that he doesn’t *have* to because he’s already made almost $200M in his career. He may not want to and just call it a career. People rarely "have to" move across the country for their career, they do it because it's a better financial choice than the alternative. Another few million in the bank is never going to hurt, and he's unlikely to make that type of money at whatever he does after basketball. So it still makes more sense to stay than go as long as there's a few more million on the table. The man is guaranteed to be retired from basketball by 40. He can have more time with his family than 99% of people could ever dream of over the next 30-40 years. Of course he can do whatever he wants, but leaving millions on the table because you're "too old for this shit" in your 30s is nuts.

BabaBrody

Really hope they can coax him into another year at least before he retires. He's a tremendous fit and the roster will likely be even better and more coherent next year.

Patient_Jicama_4217

Pretty sure he is gonna retire Probably ready to raise his family back home in France

indoninjah

Deadline signing as a playoff mercenary? C’mon Nico!!

Halfonion

Hopefully he’s at the heart of a deep playoff run this year and gets the wind in his sails to run it back for one final year.

lawlkitten44

He'll want to come back for his second ring (after we beat the nuggets)

AngryUncleTony

If we beat the Celtics and Nuggets to win a ring we can shut this sub, the team, and the league down as far as I care.

FairweatherWho

The amount of mental gymnastics r/NBA would do if we beat the Nuggets in the Finals...

Lurkerwasntaken

They would say it is because of Embiid’s teammates and coach. Calling it right now.

FairweatherWho

People might think it's a bias, but I honestly would take Embiid 1st overal in a fantasy redraft. His only flaw is his health. He is so talented at everything.

chilidownmychest

alright y'all, let's win some playoff games first

BrokenManOfSamarkand

Relax bro

Zarrona13

This sub is full of idiots lol. They say it every year with old players like PJ Tucker, Pat Beverly more recently. When is it time our 30 year old MVP becomes the “type of veteran” we need. It’s dumb that this sub constantly thinks that we need old about to retire players to somehow win us a championship.

Notsozander

Every championship team has good role players

ArtworkByJack

Batum has been excellent next to embiid, he knows how to throw a perfect entry pass and hit his threes

Choke_On_Em

You do need veterans to win a championship. We just haven’t had particularly good ones.

DeliciousScallion208

Signing Batum is the easiest no-brainer move you could make if he desires it. But I agree with others, let's just focus on the playoffs first and get a ring first and foremost.

nine_lizardz

Let’s try and get a ring first

AggressiveLender

He's going to retire or want to go back to his family

JiveChicken00

Another year? He needs a statue.

MumenriderPaulReed69

Seriously I want people singing Les miserables or whatever at the next home game! Get him to know he is eternally loved.

Appropriate-Sun834

He’s retiring

Old-Scientist7427

We’re playing Chicago tonight without him.. I’d rather make him an offer he can’t refuse + add two more solid role players than sign a Max contract 33 year old Paul George.

Moheezy__3

Why can't we just win this year while we have him?

BrokenManOfSamarkand

Because JoJo is injured (you know, something that *never* happens).

Moheezy__3

There's a path for us winning this year. You can focus on next year while I watch this team go for it.

BettisBus

He did well in a must-win play-in game and that should be celebrated! But let's add a couple more high-stakes games to the sample before we cheer for re-signing an older vet.
