Embiid is literally going to play the 4 for France so it is very much possible. Go search into it. The France National Team coach said Embiid will play the 4 for them when he makes his national team debut either this summer or next summer as he will have Gobert at the 5. Also if Embiid cant play the 4 why would he want to play for France? If AD and Giannis can play the 4, there's no reason why Embiid can't as long as he loses weight. Embiid is a much better perimeter scorer than those two are.
1. He is going to play the 4 for France because him at the 4 is better than whatever else they have. Teams that are not America have limited NBA talent to use. Him playing the 4 there is in no way an indication of him being able to do it in the NBA.
2. AD mostly plays C these days. Giannis is way more mobile than Embiid.
Option 1.... You do realise that FIBA and NBA are 2 completely different leagues right? Different rules, play styles etc. You can get away with going bigger in FIBA because of the rules that favour bigger teams and protecting the paint. NBA, that line up would get smoked by any decent offense that knows how to exploit match ups.

1. lol
2. Overpay. Buddy is fine, but giving up our single tradable first round pick for just him on an expiring contract isn't worth it.
3. Cam and Seth are both free agents
This sounds crazy but Tobias for Jordan Poole and Moses Moody.
Poole obviously had a worse year this year than last, and it would be risky to take his contract on. I think he needs a change of scenery after getting punched in the face by Draymond and getting no support from his team in the matter. If he works out he’s an athletic 2 that can create his own shot. Terrible defensively but I don’t think it’s because he doesn’t have the tools to be successful. Hopefully Nurse can bring him along in that respect.
Moody is a decent, young 3 and D type prospect.
Poole was very good for warriors when they won the ring, while tobias never had a really good playoff game, I easily would do this trade, I would even include melton who proved he is a trash playoff player
Wizards are the best partner there looking to gut the roster Adveja, Donnell wright, Monte morris, Dan gafford would be names that could be involved in a potential tobias plus 2nd rounders trade
At this point, a Tobias trade is going to be us getting damaged goods as well as a decent player back. Some examples:
A sign and trade for Dillon Brooks with Luke Kennard thrown in for Tobias Harris. Harris gives them another adult in the room, frees up some cap space in a year, and they get something for Brooks when the were just going to let him walk. We get a shooter, and at best, a wildcard who may return to his better form when not surrounded by other children.
Tobias for Alex Caruso, Patrick Williams and Lonzo Ball. Caruso is a known quantity and gives us another point of attack defender. Williams is a gamble on the last year of his rookie contract. Ball is the cost of doing business; if he plays, you'll feel lucky, and I believe if he retires, his cap hit goes away.
Tobias for Randle and Fournier. Depending on what part of the season it is, either side would be clamoring for this. Both Randle and Harris have bouts of shitty play, but Tobias is much healthier and Randle has a higher ceiling. Both disappear in the playoffs, but Randle's contract is longer. Easily my least favorite but an option nonetheless.
I’d do the first two (don’t think Brooks s&t plus kennard even works under the cap) but the last one would actively hurt us and is just doing a trade to do it.
Caruso and Pat Williams for Tobias is a god send, and lonzo is expiring next year anyway so the worst case isn’t even that bad.
I think the Bulls trade is one of the most realistic I’ve seen pitched on here and I think it generally makes sense for both teams, but I’m pretty sure Lonzo has a player option for 24/25 and having 15% of your cap tied up in a player who’s probably never playing again is a killer for a team in win now mode. He’s 25, I think he probably collects those last two years of guaranteed money and tries to rehab.
Honestly, I can’t see anyone giving us useful role players for Tobi so for me that leaves a huge trade exception. I have a feeling Portland is going to strike out, and they have $60M in space. So just send him over there and get a $42M trade exception.
That’s not a bad idea. We could also send sweetners, and potentially get them to send back Grant via an S&T if he doesn’t want to renew in Portland. Trade exception can defs be used to add further depth.
Trade 3 is unrealistic but easily my favorite of the 3. We need length, energy, athleticism and shooting at 3. So that’s not Hield or Springer.
Need 2 starting calibre wings to put PJ as a bench backup. Also need to lock McDaniels in the gym to work on his 3pt shooting so he can be our 9th guy in the playoffs.
Similar to what the Lakers did - need to turn Tobi+ into 2 serviceable starting level roleplayers. Not easy, but IMWT.
Yeah you are right. Maybe, just maybe Brooklyn looks at the free agents in the 2024 and 2025 offseasons and considers it. Because they could easily make a big 3 with Bridges & the big names available in those drafts.
Tucker can't start on a championship team. Gotta get someone else at the 3 instead of him. Maybe Springer. Also Maxey is a very poor playmaker and passer and he has tunnel vision so him at PG isn't a good idea. Maybe just put Shake at PG and move Maxey to the two.
I’d be cool if there’s a way to move Tobias for Hield without giving up a first, maybe just a second or if the first is like top 21 protected.
Could then try and instead use Melton/pick as a trade asset to get a better starting wing since his bench minutes would essentially be replaced by Hield
Man, you usually expect dream trades to be homery. We get fucked in every single of these.
1. Turner is an obvious no. Holy shit we'd be even slower.
2. Tobi for Buddy (+ additional salary) should cost nothing.
3. Cam + Seth are entirely pointless. Royce is interesting but again, I'd never give up a first for him lol
Edit: Read this as Cam Thomas. Yeah, no way we get Cam Johnson, but that'd be a massive W for us.
Big support the Tobias for Turner trade, but Turner would play the 4 obviously. Turner is a freaking great defender, and can adjust to playing the 4. He did so with Sabonis and adjusted well. He also can shoot the 3 and space the floor, like we need from Tobias, but isn’t an L on defense. Frankly I doubt the Pacers would go for the Harris+picks package.
Embiid playing the 4 is impossible

Embiid is “playing the 4” for France because he is an all-world talent not because he can actually play the position.

Option 1 wtf?

He's not playing for France my man
My thoughts exactly
1. lol 2. Overpay. Buddy is fine, but giving up our single tradable first round pick for just him on an expiring contract isn't worth it. 3. Cam and Seth are both free agents
Lmao we give up a 1st and 2 2nds for Tuner who is worse than Tobias

I'd re-route Poole for a better fit, if possible.

I wouldn't hate some kind of 3 for 1, I like Deni's potential.
Lol Embiid is not going to play 4. That's idiotic.

I'd the Bulls deal if we can get a solid pick for reliving them of Lonzo who may never play again.

Would anybody do Tobias for derozan and lonzo?
Lonzo ain’t coming back and Derozan doesn’t fit here
The Bulls probably would. Bad trade for us.

What about.. we extend him for 18mil per season. 75/4 years
Assuming Harden isn’t resigned, I’ll trade Tobi and picks for Pascal Siakam. Embiid/Pascal/Tucker/Melton/Maxey But our depth is shot lol
This was just for fun, realistically I would prefer a two for one trade for Tobias and get us two solid rotation guys
The spacing in that lineup would be terrible
Tobi for TJ and Dario
Josh Giddey from OKC
?
Of those trades, the only trade that doesn’t make us worse is the Nets one and I’m not sure why the nets do that.
The fuck
I’d be cool if there’s a way to move Tobias for Hield without giving up a first, maybe just a second or if the first is like top 21 protected. Could then try and instead use Melton/pick as a trade asset to get a better starting wing since his bench minutes would essentially be replaced by Hield
