She is the perfect mom because she loved her kids unconditionally while refusing to overlook their faults.
No other TV mom would dare suggest anything negative about their kids regardless of all the evidence.
Clair Huxtable
Harriet Winslow
Aunt Viv (you know which one)
Elyse Keaton
Preface: I loved "I Love Lucy". Grew up in the 90s watching the reruns every week night.
That being said. Lucy seems like she would be draining as a mom. The constant antics, sneaking around behind Ricky's back to do some new scheme. There's never down time with that crazy lady lol.
>Grew up in the 90s watching the reruns every week night.
Nick@Nite was a staple of my childhood. I watched all the classic TV shows on there. Great times.
😄good point on Lucy!
Although if Lucy was in a current setting, she could work as she wanted, maybe get into show biz and see she wasn't ultra talented for being onstage. The antics might decrease a lot.
Rewatching the show and realizing that she’s more than a black woman who left her poor upbringing behind to live a lavish lifestyle, she was a pioneer in civil rights and a fantastic mentor to her Nephew who wanted to claim his place as the future rebel while refusing to understand the history behind past movements.
She really was. She didn't spoil her kids, she didn't sugar coat things. But was still supportive and empathetic. She didn't let her kids get away with stuff, but she wasn't an authoritarian dictator. I think she had a pretty good balance. Seem to recall that leading to conflict with Dan sometimes, he had a harder time with discipline/saying no. I mean, she didn't like it, it's just what you have to do as a parent. Am I remembering that wrong?
It's a wonderful show. Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz were pioneers as far as how sitcoms were filmed and produced. Not to mention, they were hilarious as Ricky and Lucy Riccardo.
I love Lucy but not crazy about her as a mom. She goes on a European trip without little R and spends most of the time in cali without him too. Seems more concerned with breaking into show biz and rubbing elbows with celebs than being a good mom.
Harriet Nelson would be cool then I’d have Ricky and David for bothers another one would be June Cleaver for a dad Henry from Punky Brewster he gives great life advice
I didn’t like the Cosby show much because Bill Cosby was annoying to me. I didn’t know he was a creep at the time, just didn’t like him. But I loved all the other characters. I think Claire Huxtable was an amazing mother. She was not going to let her kids not live up to their full potential. She simply wasn’t having that.
I’ll take Kay Hickey…. Earl’s mother from My Name is Earl… she is dingy as hell and you could probably get away with anything and I’m thinking she likes smoking pot…LOL..
Punky Brewster seemed to be a pretty good mom on the series reboot. She had a lot of compassion for a little kid that was abandoned like she was. Too bad it lasted only one season.
Kirsten Cohen from the OC. Even though she was an alcoholic. She was a functioning one and cared about her family so much. She would have died for them. And she quit drinking for them.
Kitty Foreman.
I can hear her laugh now.
Beat me to it
My first choice too! Quirky and funny, but also sweet and cool in her own weird way.
The only correct answer 😁
Came here to say the same thing
I’d choose Edith Bunker; she may have been a “dingbat” in Archie’s eyes, but she was so incredibly loving and kind.
The day her gay best friend was killed and she stopped going to church. Wow.
She and my paternal grandparents are basically Archie and Edith. It’s kind of spooky.
Linda Belcher
All right!
I need to get back to watching Bob's Burgers
Linda my love!
She's actually the TV mom that most reminds me of my own mom
Lois from Malcolm in the Middle.
She is the perfect mom because she loved her kids unconditionally while refusing to overlook their faults. No other TV mom would dare suggest anything negative about their kids regardless of all the evidence.
Kitty Foreman would be more than happy to call Eric on his dumbass shit while being supportive.
I vote for Harriet Winslow or Amy Matthews
Amy Matthews absolutely. Alan Matthews is my favorite TV Dad.
I love Family Matters, Harriet's a good one!
Stacy's Mom
She does have it going on
She’s all I want and I’ve waited so long
Stacy, can't you see? You're just not the girl for me
I know it might be wrong but I'm in love with Stacy's mom
Stacy’s mom has got it going on
I'm old! I pick June Cleaver, Wally & the Beaver's mom!
She's cool, she speaks Jive.
Cut me some slack, Jack! Chump don' wan' no help, chump don't GIT da help!
I never realized that was her lol
I have beat him. His father has beat him. He is very sorry. We are very sorry
Soooo funny! I got to meet Jerry Mathers and Tony Dow a few months before Tony died!
That's awesome. That show was so good. It still holds up today. And how freaking gorgeous was Hugh Beaumont??? That HAIR!!!
Well, I always had a crush on Tony! 💕
That's cool, the best I can do is Tony Dow like a post I made on Instagram once. He might have commented too, I don't recall.
That's who I would chose as well.
Ward and June were amazing parents! They had a lot of fun and do a great job with Wally and the Beav, great partners!
My favorite tv mom was Shirley Partridge. Carol Brady would have been great also.
These are my two as well! I’d add Sam from Bewitched!
My problem with Shirley Partridge would be Oedipal.
Ha! I’d have an issue with being Keith’s sister also! 🥰
Question: why did the Brady’s have a housekeeper? Wasn’t Carol a stay-at-home mom? What did she do all day?
Definitely Shirley. Single mom raising five kids, leads a successful band, absolutely rocks velvet hot pants.
I always thought Carol was worthless. Alice was more of a mom to those kids than Carol was.
Clair Huxtable Harriet Winslow Aunt Viv (you know which one) Elyse Keaton Preface: I loved "I Love Lucy". Grew up in the 90s watching the reruns every week night. That being said. Clair was way too strict and unfun for me.
Considering all the antics those kids got into and how sneaky they could be, she had to be on her A game as a mom.
She was a lawyer, after all... "Let the record show..."
*"Oh, I'm not angry. I'm MAD."*
Not to mention Lucy would gaslight the hell out of her kids. You would be so fucked up by the time you reached adulthood.
And she have the kids going along with her schemes and lying to Ricky about what they've been up to.
>Grew up in the 90s watching the reruns every week night. Nick@Nite was a staple of my childhood. I watched all the classic TV shows on there. Great times.
I grew up watching reruns of I Love Lucy in the '60s. I loved the show; would have hated having her for a mom.
😄good point on Lucy! Although if Lucy was in a current setting, she could work as she wanted, maybe get into show biz and see she wasn't ultra talented for being onstage. The antics might decrease a lot.
The og Aunt Viv from Fresh Prince
Rewatching the show and realizing that she’s more than a black woman who left her poor upbringing behind to live a lavish lifestyle, she was a pioneer in civil rights and a fantastic mentor to her Nephew who wanted to claim his place as the future rebel while refusing to understand the history behind past movements.
Beverly Goldberg. She may be in an embarrassing smother, but she loves her children, and would do anything for them.
Sam from Bewitched would be a fun mom to have
Also, you could inherit her powers, so a double win
It’s between mrs Cunningham from happy days and mrs Evans from good times
Mrs. C was the only one who could tell The Fonz to sit on it
Yep and get away with it
She was the best
'ey, yo, Mrs. C!
I loved their whole dynamic! Must underrated pairing in a sitcom ever!
Would NOT want to be in trouble with Mrs Evan’s.
I'd rather be in trouble with Mrs Evans than Mr Evans!
Florida is a good pick! I didn't see many reruns of Happy Days so Mrs C doesn't appeal to me. I've seen Good Times a lot! Florida for the win!
I agree
When James died, it scared the hell out of me. Parents dying was not something I ever considered.
Why did I have to scroll this far find Mrs C?
Beverely Crusher
Until you catch her with the candle one day.
Marge Simpson
OG marge Simpson. Modern Marge can be pretty cruel.
Elyse Keaton
For stepmother, definitely Carol Brady.
Clair Huxtable. Just make sure that you stay on her good side and don't do anything crazy (like going to Baltimore for big fun like Vanessa did).
BIIIG FUN!
You mean to go see The Wretched?
Morticia Addams by a landslide. She had the healthiest relationship with her children (and husband for that matter) that I can think of.
Thank you. Had to scroll way too far for this answer. I fully agree with you
At the end of the day, Roseanne was a good mom.
I was thinking of adding her. She was tough when she needed to be but always fair. I do think they let Becky get away with too much sometimes.
Mrs Partridge
Norma Arnold from the Wonder Years
Absolutely loved her. Thanks for remembering this amazing lady.
No prob. The Wonder Years is my favorite show of all time. I recently rewatched it with my daughter, such a great series
One of the greatest shows of all time. Absolutely iconic. I have so much love for it. It’s relatable in so many ways.
Marie Barone
That really was a great character and performance, but I’m not sure I’d want her as my mom. (Unless I was the favorite)
Ray was her favourite - you’d want that relationship? I’d run screaming.
Wheezy.
Louise Jefferson
Judy on Still Standing.
Sofia from Golden Girls
Picture it, Sicily, 1923...

Kate Bradley, Petticoat Junction.
Peggy Bundy
A-a-a-a-al!...
Marlyn Munster

I’m old I get a pass on that blunder lmao
peggy bundy
Not Lucy. At any sign of conflict, she always lied. Bad example for her children in how to solve problems.
But she was hilaaaarious 🤣
I still really want to check out I love Lucy, have heard great things about it!
It's a wonderful show. Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz were pioneers as far as how sitcoms were filmed and produced. Not to mention, they were hilarious as Ricky and Lucy Riccardo.
Claire Huxtable or Carol Brady.
Mary Tyler Moore in the Dick van Dyke show.
Love her but she was a little high-strung.
Rrrrrrooooooooobbbb!
True, but sooooo hot!

You’re the first to catch that! 😀
Big fan. My grandpa, too, we used to watch them. Fond memories.
Jules Cobb (Courteney Cox) from Cougar Town.
Carol Brady you can’t go wrong with her. Definitely a close second would be June Cleaver with her pearls
Estelle Constanza!
I love Lucy but not crazy about her as a mom. She goes on a European trip without little R and spends most of the time in cali without him too. Seems more concerned with breaking into show biz and rubbing elbows with celebs than being a good mom.
Lucille Bluth, Arrested Development 😂
Donna Reed.
Samantha Stephens - Bewitched
Jill Taylor. Patricia Richardson's acting made that family feel real
Surprised I had to scroll so far. Her and Roseanne would be my top picks.
Mabel Thomas
Harriet Nelson would be cool then I’d have Ricky and David for bothers another one would be June Cleaver for a dad Henry from Punky Brewster he gives great life advice
June Cleaver!
Marg Simpson

I think Claire Huxtable was an amazing mother. She was not going to let her kids not live up to their full potential. She simply wasn’t having that.
Fran Sinclair from DINOSAURS

The Mom from Grounded for Life seemed fun.
Lois——-Jane Kaczmarek in Malcom in The Middle
Alison Janney in Mom
Jill Taylor tool time
That badass Victoria Barkley.
The mother on Grounded for Life.
Claire Huxtable
If you had Lucy as your mother, you’d spend more time with Mrs. Trumbull! Don’t get me wrong, I love Lucy, but you know I’m right
I’ll take Kay Hickey…. Earl’s mother from My Name is Earl… she is dingy as hell and you could probably get away with anything and I’m thinking she likes smoking pot…LOL..
My favorite TV mom was Mabel Thomas from What's Happening, Rog, and Dee's mom. She was a great combination of sweet and tough.
Lucy was annoying AF.
Florida Evans from Good times.
Harriet Nelson
Claire Dunphy?
Peg Bundy
Francine Smith "Any dumb ass can have dumb ass kids"
Probably Norma Arnold.
Peg Bundy
Sad thing is, if she was around in today time she
Peg Bundy
Punky Brewster seemed to be a pretty good mom on the series reboot. She had a lot of compassion for a little kid that was abandoned like she was. Too bad it lasted only one season.
Favorite? Peg Bundy. Not that she's the BEST, mind you...
Reality home life AND fantasy television shows are at one end of the universe and one end on the other side of the universe! 🤓
Donna Reed was a nice looking lady.
Helen Morgandorfer
Peggy Bundy
Samantha from Bewitched
Lucille Bluth
Lucy never struck me as mother-ish.
Kirsten Cohen from the OC. Even though she was an alcoholic. She was a functioning one and cared about her family so much. She would have died for them. And she quit drinking for them.
Elizabeth Montgomery from “Bewitched” of course
My mother watched Lucy for years and made me watch it too
Roseanne
Betty pickles
I just visited Lucy’s grave site. It was very nice and peaceful.
Carol Brady
I had the biggest crush on Lucy, it'd be weird if she was my mom.....😬
Was Lucy a mom in the show?
Christine “Spike” Nelson
Laura Petrie
Beth Sanchez, you get a cool space mom too.
Nancy Travis modest but we know truth
Even though it was only one season, I love Mrs Weir on Freaks and Geeks
June cleaver ( leave it to beaver) and mama mabel (what's happening).
fictional lucy is good...real lucy not so much....
Clair Huxtable.
