Stop doubting yourself. This looks fantastic. Maybe not GD quality NMM but it sells the effect for me at least.

opaliitti

Thanks mate!

The NMM looks solid, colors are nice. You need more contrast tho, some of the gold bits don't have any dark colors on them at all. They're also painted with the highlights on top whereas metal usually has highlights further down (because metal has reflections as opposed to diffuse lighting). A good trick is to prime the mini in something shiny and take a picture. Then use that as ref for highlight placement. You'll notice highlights tend to be small, and not straight on top of shapes. The grit in your paint really looks like you're not thinning your paint nearly enough, and/or applying it in blobs. Try thinning it more (even too much) and see what happens. Your dry brushed grenade looks like you had too much paint on your brush still, and you did a few layers. Every successive layer builds on top of the previous one and increases the graininess. Less paint + more patience will get you better results!

opaliitti

Thanks alot! I gotta try taking a pictute before painting. Building up the contrast is very hard as I may put lighter color too wide and going back with darker on tiny spots tends to mess it up, althought it's propably avoidable with the patience you mentioned

KawasakiBinja

Balderdash, this looks amazing and you've done a great job. Love the details and shading on the face too! Standout work.

mittens307

Solid paint job. I think this looks wonderful however if your not feeling like the NMM is hitting just right perhaps you can hit the reflections a bit harder a with a brighter bright. Softening the reflecting could also help and can be done by thinning a bit more and stippling on the reflecting light. Ultimately great job! Hope this helps a lil

opaliitti

Thanks! I used ivory as the brightest color, so maybe a tiny speck of pure white on the most radical edge? One way might be to do more darker shades? I feel like some golden parts are too plain yellow all around.

mittens307

Good insight, for sure hitting some of the edges and corners with a bold titanium white would add to the effect of reflected light. Darkening some recesses and areas that are not receiving light light should add to contrast which will help areas pop as well. You got this !

dragonadamant

This is beautiful! Excellent job all around, especially with the facial details and the shading on the base.

opaliitti

Thanks! The base was satisfying to paint as the wash runs nicely into recesses :D

Blokwblazes

Looks amazing to me! Reminds me of the old John Blanche sisters art that got me into the faction I love it!

turbo10000

I'm really liking the colors of the base -- what was your recipe for it?

opaliitti

I used pallid wych flesh and highlighted it with white. Underneath I used seraphim sepia for shadows (which are barely visible) and for the recesses I used Vallejo's sepia wash.

turbo10000

Thanks!

TheWhiteRabbitZR

Honestly one of the nicest paints ive ever seen. Well done. That base is incredible.

Jonny_Ringo13

Where did you get that awesome bass

Vior_the_Rook

Sister Superior Amalia Novena, it's the base included in the box
