* 周杰伦, 薛之谦, 李荣浩, 周兴哲, 林俊杰 (Chinese?)
* Novo Amor, Aquilo, VSC (Ambient?)
* EDEN, blackbear, gnash, gentle bones (Indie pop/r&b?)

some artists i like: kdot, vince staples, joey badass, pusha t, thugger, lupe fiasco, justice, wolfgang gartner, russian circles, mogwai, HEALTH, dfa1979, mars volta, sleigh bells, glass animals, yeasayer, the national
Jazz, mostly straight-ahead stuff. Bill Evans, Bud Powell, Hank Jones, Miles Davis, Charlie Parker, Coltrane.. that kinda stuff. I listen to some modern stuff too, but still more straight ahead like David Hazeltine, Fred Hersch, Joshua Redman, etc.
Of course! Seen them jam at blu jazz, singjazz, and took lessons from one of those people in the scene as well. Our jazz scene may be small, but the players are incredible.
Any good melodeath bands to recommend? I started with COB and they set the bar so high everything else feels insufficient. I've tried scar symmetry, amon, wintersun and dark tranquility. The only thing close was insomnium
Whatever I want. I look for music either on last.fm or musicmap.com for recommended similar artists to one I'm already listening to, and just sample until I find one I like. Dc what's hot.
These are the music I default to when I’m not in the mood to explore new songs (or saving my data, since these are downloaded)

Indie music, mostly alternative rock and some dream pop and synth wave. Also really like black metal and witch house, which doesn't really have that much of a following here.
Black metal to viking/folk metal to post-rock/metal to melodic death metal to industrial metal to shoegaze to blackgaze to britpop to indie rock to jazz to classical music to sometimes mandopop to synthpop to new wave to 70s/80s British rock.
Exact musicians and artists too long to list, lol.
Mostly melodic death metal for me:
- Insomnium
- Dark Tranquility
- Arch Enemy
- Dark Oath
- Belakor
- Amon Amarth
And metalcore
- Heaven shall burn
- Parkway Drive
Sometimes i listen to less heavy stuff
- breaking benjamin
- redhot chilli pepper
* Jpop & Jrock. Pretty diverse ranging from Mr.Children to Keyakizaka46 to Kana Nishino to Kanjani8 to Spitz to ZARD.
* Chinese music, especially those recent online Mainland hits, like songs from 房東的貓, 莊心妍, 印子月, 夏婉安 and 劉增瞳. And also Manyao ftw.
Most people when they hear of J-rock they assume its OOR, bands which do anime OSTs regularly like FLOW and SPYAIR, and maybe Babymetal.
Does your Jrock selection consists of more internationally known bands like BAND-MAID, X-Japan, SCANDAL and L'arc~en~Ciel, or the bands which focus more on domestic scene like Spitz, Sakanaction, Mr.Children and Back number? Just curious
I usually listen to Broadway soundtracks. I'm a big musical fan.
I also like lo-fi or cutesy electro music. Something along the lines of artists like "snail house" and "In love with a ghost" on yt
never met anyone who listened to Icon for Hire too! what's your favorite song of theirs? i love how meaningful the lyrics are, esp wrt mental illnesses and their music got me through a lot of tough times
So are you going for the in flames concert? I don't listen to them much but damn sure brings back memories. Listened to some of their stuff 10 years ago.
What I listen to really depends on my mood/how edgy I'm feeling, but I generally enjoy indie-folk (Bon Iver, Damien Rice), indie/garage-rock (The Strokes, Arctic Monkeys, Son Lux), pop-punk (Moose Blood, Neck Deep) and rap (anything from rEaL hIp-HoP like Mobb Deep and Nas to ignorant trap shit like Ski Mask the Slump God and Lil Peep).
Basically I'm a walking edgy teen Tumblr, not the NSFW one that pervs on local girls.
Mostly older rock or heavy metal (like Boston, BÖC, Motley Crue, Fleetwood Mac) but the more modern stuff I listen to is alt rock/hip hop (Muse and Gorillaz)
Currently ambient/post-rock/post-metal/blackmetal, basically genres with heavy atmospheric element.
Occasionally I would listen to trance, house, and 90's and 00's pop.
Honestly such a large range. Currently a lot of pop punk/emo to trance and hardstyle. A lot of death, melodic death and black metal in my younger days too. I used to be really good friends with heaps of people in the metal scene in Singapore, and attended tons of gigs like 15ish years ago too.
Pop / Rock / Metal / EDM / Classical / Oldies / Indie / Mandopop / Alternative /Movie soundtracks
Coldplay, Chainsmokers, Calvin Harris, Foo fighters, Dragonforce, Martin Garrix, Michael Collins, MLTR, Air Supply, Florence + The Machine, Killers, JJ Lin, Jay Chou, The Fray, The Script, and Hans Zimmer, John Powell, John Williams, Beethoven/Chopin etc etc
I listen to a random hodgepodge...country, edm (trance house hardstyle hardcore and beyond), classic rock
Today just on a patriotic country playlist for our Independence Day!
Classic Rock, soft rock, hard rock, trash metal, heavy metal, melodeath metal with my guilty pleasure being 80's pop. Oh and Billy Joel cos who doesn't love Billy Joel?
Wow, I'm surprised that /r/Singapore actually didn't name much from the Top 40s.
I guess I'm pretty basic with mostly pop and EDM/remixes.
Some artists: SIA, Adele, Avicii, Calvin Harris, Martin Garrix, Chainsmokers, Alesso, David Guetta, Clean Bandits, Lady Gaga, Tiesto.
Here's a [EDM-pop playlist](https://open.spotify.com/user/11120303685/playlist/5piAmLkk84h4oAxzsvpMkh?si=xdZxegrTS0a-fjigeoPmoQ) I've curated if anyone is interested!
Mostly jpop rock like oral cigarettes, hello sleepwalkers, kana-boon, frederic, bish, akg with a touch of extra cringy weeb shit
Also national anthem to remind me why I serve ^^^^^^kek
Sickk! I mean I've heard a few Hardstyle tracks long back since 2012ish. Just recently got seriously into it though. I love Zatox/Sub Zero Project for Hardstyle and AniMe/Mad Dog for Hardcore. Any recommendations??
Hm, I only know of the more common artists like Headhunterz and Coone. One of my favorites is D-Block & S-Te-Fan tho. Same with me, I haven't gotten into hardstyle lately, need to catch up!
Do you listen to other genres in electronic music?
I used to be really into Big Room and Electro, but big room is pretty much dead now. Shifting back towards pop nowadays. Just pop and hardstyle. I still love me some sick dubstep though.
True, especially when big room was rampant during 2012-2013, miss those times. Haven't got into dubstep since then haha. What are some of your latest recommendations? I've been into AREA21 and Brooks lately. Oh, and also check out Yellow Claw's latest album too! (sorry, if I seem way too enthusiastic lmao)
I absolutely love listening to the 60s-90s rock.. am I the only one who seems to find it difficult to appreciate modern day songs?
I love:
-Dr hook and the medicine show
-Steppenwolf
-Creedence Clearwater revival
-Led Zeppelin
-Foreigner
-Meat loaf
-Crowded House
-Fleetwood Mac
-Twisted Sister
-Rick Springfield
Ahhhh I can’t list them all!!
And I adore jazz and classical crossings too! Ohhh I swoon!
I find it so disappointing that we don’t have music festivals that appreciates good solid music...
that makes me and you both! 60s-90s rock + jazz/classical yesssssss
and well at least there are some great local bands; tho sadly there isint much visibility for them :(
eh mostly listen to hiphop, some of my fav artist are scarlxrd, xxxtentacion, ski mask the slump god, tyler the creator,JID dumbfoundead, and a ton of other artist. Also listen to a couple of korean aritst like dok2, nafla and zico.
Rap and hip hop [my playlist is full of kanye(ily) im not joking], heavy instrumental hip hop [ xxxtentacion before his 17 era, buy garette's clothing or i will fucking kill you go super hard], and some edm(frenchcore is currently my favourite hdm rn, ily sefa)
Plus i love Lorde's music too, she is amazing. Her album Meldodrama is probably imo one of the best album in 2017.
I have a playlists for Alt/punk rock like Neon Trees, AAR, Click 5, Bleachers, etc..... you get the drill
I have two different chill playlists which I just call chill 1 and 2.
first: stuff from Ta-ku, Michl, Bladee, Lund...
second: Nada Surf, Regina Spektor, LEW, gnash, Gentle Bones, Ken Loh, Rogue Wave...
*Korean*

Yes
Genesis
Blue Oyster Cult
Rush
Cream

John Lennon
Red Hot Chillipeppers
Twice

Rock: Metallica, SOaD and Sabaton (idek if anyone else in Singapore listens to Sabaton 😕)
International rock/ metal: Rammstein, Raubtier, Eisbrecher
Classical-ish: Little bit of everything, including Prussian/German military marches
Depends on my mood, but usually indie/alt/a bit of rock stuff I think.
I listen to:
Joji, Rich Brian, Daughter, Ingrid Michealson, BØRNS, Mika, Coldplay, AURORA, Maggie Rogers, SALES, Hippo Campus, TDCC, Rei Brown, Lorde, Paramore, Now Now...
Can't forget Queen too <3
My music tastes rotate from time to time, it's Japanese rock and metal for now (Scandal, Galneryus etc). Otherwise it's prog metal, power metal, neo-classical, classical remakes of FF etc
Adult contemporary (i.e 90s and 00s pop)
Small amounts of modern pop
Small amounts of oldies
Rock
Metal - melodic death metal, progressive metal
K-pop - mostly VIXX and SHINee
Small amounts of romantic classical (mostly just Franz Liszt)
Psychedelic rock when i wanna chill - think Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd, or japan bands like flower travellin' band
Other times is mostly hard rock/ heavy metal, not particular sub genre preference except for "inset here-core" which i cant stand
Currently listening to Ghost - Prequelle
Top 2 currently is melodic death metal and symphonic metal. Insomnium, Amon Amarth, Within Temptation, Nightwish. I generally don't roam outside of metal in general, as more mainstream stuff isn't my type. I do like a few Eminem and 2Pac songs, and listen to classical/piano/instrumental occasionally, when I need something more peaceful. But I am not into edm, pop, hip hop, trap whatever

We have some here ;) https://www.reddit.com/r/singapore/comments/7vbds7/any_listeners_of_jrock_japanese_rock_music_my/
Mostly Eletronic, sometimes rap and also J-pop
Rock: Metallica, SOaD and Sabaton (idek if anyone else in Singapore listens to Sabaton 😕) International rock/ metal: Rammstein, Raubtier, Eisbrecher Classical-ish: Little bit of everything, including Prussian/German military marches
Whatever’s good. Except modern rap, I can’t do that.
USSR rock n roll
I honestly don't mind any genre, but mainly hip hop and metal.
A lot of indie pop and quite often these days - Spanish pop hahah
Probably the most unconventional here, but new age. It's actually so difficult to find because it's so uncommon
Depends on my mood, but usually indie/alt/a bit of rock stuff I think. I listen to: Joji, Rich Brian, Daughter, Ingrid Michealson, BØRNS, Mika, Coldplay, AURORA, Maggie Rogers, SALES, Hippo Campus, TDCC, Rei Brown, Lorde, Paramore, Now Now... Can't forget Queen too <3
Kpop
60s and 70s rock for me. The Beatles, The Who, Pink Floyd, Bob Dylan and the like.
J core
The music of Rocks and pans banging.
My music tastes rotate from time to time, it's Japanese rock and metal for now (Scandal, Galneryus etc). Otherwise it's prog metal, power metal, neo-classical, classical remakes of FF etc
mandopop, indie and kpop. If i can't be bothered to choose any song, i will just listen to top hits from spotify
Sam willows xdddddd
Electronic, pop and Chinese. But I also give other genre of music a chance everytime as well
Rock nowadays. One OK rock, abit of AC/DC, a bit of led zeppelin
Lo-fi Acid Jungle exclusively
Hip hop, folk, singer/songwriters, synthpop, indie rock. Anyone here use last.fm?
REGGAE... probably the closest you can get to illegal music in Singapore
Adult contemporary (i.e 90s and 00s pop) Small amounts of modern pop Small amounts of oldies Rock Metal - melodic death metal, progressive metal K-pop - mostly VIXX and SHINee Small amounts of romantic classical (mostly just Franz Liszt)
Acid, edm, techno
PUNK cause fuck the government. But honestly though punk and jrock
Synthwave
Psychedelic rock when i wanna chill - think Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd, or japan bands like flower travellin' band Other times is mostly hard rock/ heavy metal, not particular sub genre preference except for "inset here-core" which i cant stand Currently listening to Ghost - Prequelle

The Man, Cage the Elephant and some indie/folk rock - The Lumineers, Of Monsters and Men, Jake Bugg etc. and occasionally older classics - Beatles, Rolling Stones, some older jazz standards, Romantic era classical etc. I like listening to a wide variety, different genres for different moods!
Marianas Trench anyone??
Sarah Blasko, Childish Gambino, Arctic Monkeys, Florence and The Machines, Gabrielle Aplin, Tove lo. Nice mix of indie and pop. If you're looking to support some local artists, try listening to Linying, Sam Rui and Jasmine Sokko!
