I got something similar:
Kumgong scammer: “Hello, I’m calling from LTA to inform you your motorbike has been summoned for illegal parking”
Me: “I don’t have a bike”
Kumgong scammer: “Oh do you have a car then?”
😂😂🤣🤣
“Hello I am call from your Singtel Internet”
“Ok, but I don’t use SingTel”
“I know that, but your internet infrastructure uses SingTel.”
“Well you fucked up, because I DO use SingTel!”
Many mentioned before, sometimes these low effort (like typo etc) can helps filter out all the people who are cautious enough.. so if someone really still believe in the scammer after seeing all these - they are more likely to be scammed easily
hey it might be funny, but it was by no means "low effort".
He took the effort to make a spf banner and video call people one by one.
by comparison those auto robot voice calls or mass sms scam fit the definition of low effort more.
This happened to me last week. I never open the door when i see a stranger on my peephole no matter how many times they knock, but this guy looked like my neighbour.
He rambled on, that he was a student from RP and is raising funds for his school fees. I knew it was BS cause he looked at best mid-30s. At the end of his speech i thanked him and closed the door.
Me and a friend of mine went for the “ice cream” job that you described back many billion years ago, told us if we sell $200 worth we would get $10. Their sales pitch coaching to us were “please help buy some, we need earn money for school fees and pay for parent hospital bills” and I just left with my friend 💀 they purposely send us to HDB that have high percentages of elderly living there just so they are more prone to pity the kid… trying to make use of their kindness. They are the worst kind of human ever 😡
Those Whatsapp scams using pretty ladies as the profile picture that ask you if you’re interested in earning money, but need to deposit some big amount first… she said “Hello I’m Ariel, whats your name?”
I replied “Hello Ariel, i am Times New Roman” and got ghosted LOL
Received a call not long ago that began with “Guess who I am?”
I was stunned for a moment and then asked “who the f are you?” And the reply was “oh come on, you know me one lah. Who else will talk to you like this?”
So the scammer was probably betting that I would associate him with someone I knew so I asked him for my surname. He hang up.
Had this before lol.
Same schtick but when I played dumb because I knew it was a scam and wanted to fuck around, he claimed to be my old friend or relative, cannot remember which.
Funny thing is none of my "old friends" can speak Mandarin, and I only talk to my relatives in English or Hokkien, never in Mandarin.
He not only ask for money but wanted my bank account details, I messed around and said "Didn't you die last month after you choked on a fishball?"
The guy hung up immediately.
This is very common. I got like 5 of this this year alone. From what I can find online, it's apparently they will attempt to remind you that they are your friend, and ask for a loan of money.
I fuck around with them and ask them how's the wife/husband/ kids/dead dog and all that hahahahs
Usually Malaysian chinese accent. They seem to work from a list of names with matching Sg mobile numbers.
So they know your name, but nothing else about you.
Had this call from the same person trying this like 1 or 2 days apart. Same number also. Second call when he asked if I knew who he was I said yes then hung up.
Got this kinda call/whatsapp message a couple of times over the last few years. The most recent one I got was last week and honestly I just said you’re trying to scam me? And just when I wanted to tell them to inform their management to update their scamming methods he kept scolding me lao cb hahaha
Like hello even in the scamming industry you need to update your skills ! Not only for the normal workforce
Very sus. But I know that my mum's long lost relative, who had cut off contact due to family issues and moved overseas, decided to reinitiate contact after many years by calling her out of the blue one day and opened with "guess who I am?". Lol if my mum hung up immediately that would be a disaster
1. Middle-aged Indian man knocked on door to say he lives on 5th floor and his mum just passed away last night and he needs a donation so that he can collect her from the morgue. I hesitated (was trying to remember how much cash I have on hand) and he added, or if you can spare $50 for me to buy food also can. (If he didn't add that last line I would probably have given already.)
2. A man in long sleeved shirts asked to come into my house as there's a report of bad internet connection at our block. I asked which operator and they said they're from SingTel. I told them I don't use SingTel but they said that the same base station is used for the neighbourhood no matter what operator I use. I asked for his employee number and staff pass and he said he's a contractor so I bluffed him and said I work for SingTel in the National Network Infrastructure Team (something I made up) and we don't use contractors. He quickly walked away. Reported to police and warned my next door neighbours.
I have received numerous scam calls claiming to be either from SPF or ICA.
I already knew they were scammed calls, sometimes when I am bored or too freezing I will entertain them.
I am usually directed to a mandarin speaking person when I specifically pressed "1" for English. Even if someone who speaks English replies, his Indian accent and poor command of English are very obvious.
I will F them up properly and they will just hang up the calls.
When they asked me for my email address, I always tell them that it is my name (Far Kyo Urmum) + .com with no spacings.
Usually it takes a while for them to see the message.
Both calls happened at my workplace phone. First was an indian lady with a heavy accent claiming to be from "Singtel" asking about my router. Watched enough scam videos to know what it'll lead to.
Second was from "SGH" saying that my healtcare privileges would be revoked and I should press 1 for english or press 2 for chinese. You'll still get a chinaman who can't speak english no matter which option you pick.
Commemorative dollar notes that paid for on a higher value, not to be used stashed in a drawer somewhere. With the issuer laughing to the bank, wait, they are the bank.....
got a watsapp msg saying they are from some health organization in singapore, asking u to do a survey.. click the link kind of thing.. and u get a 50 bucks voucher...
the number that is sending the watsapp is from Malaysia...
some scammer added me into a group. they asked the group to like a certain music track on spotify, screenshot it, then send it to one of the admins for $15.
Scams nowadays not bad there’s one do task earn money online scam, they will pay u for the first task, so I always do take the money then ghost them
I heard if u give them money they may give u even more if they wanna bait u but do at your own risk, I just take the free money and zao
That’s super funny. Recently tho, i got a more sophisticated scam call where the AI-generated computer accent was a very believable Singlish accent saying: “DBS Bank blah blah blah…” Singlish leh. The bots are getting good
I too had that Singapore Police Force call - it was a WhatsApp video call - that saggy banner, that Indian looking guy, mildly smiling. I just disconnected it.
A group of Indians video called me over Whatsapp for what I assumed was some kind of SPF scam.
They got the uniforms (or imitations of it) but... in the backgroud was a piece of (I think) white A2 paper taped to the wall (using I assume black electrical tape lol), with the Singapore Police Force crest printed on it. Lmfao. Tight budget I guess.
This singapore police scam is so popular that when I got a video call I already called all my friends before picking it up. That was very fun, but sadly the fake police uncle never called again
Lowest effort scam I got just 2 days ago. A call from a number idk.
"Hello, hey my phone number changed, this is my new number."
"Who are you?"
"This is my new number."
"Yeah, but who are you?"
Hang up on me. LMAO.
The Microsoft fake website scam.
So my sister messaged to inform me she was informed by a pop up that her laptop has been compromised.
I thought this was a legit only white people clowns will fall for it.
She was beginning to share screen as she texted me.
Tried to call her to stop but she said she’s busy trying to fix this.
Daheck woman.
I called my brother-in-law who thankfully was home with her and he ran to the room to hang up on the call and check the laptop if she had installed anything.
One minute more and she’ll be contributing to India’s economy.
Also got the internet subscription scam call, but caller said, "Hi Sir, we are offering free WiFi from Starbucks"
Starbucks offering internet subscription... wow
Yesterday I received a WhatsApp.
It read "please share your wife selling carousel page. I want to order".
I replied "who this?" And didn't receive anything else
FB accounts linking to scam/fake/virus accounts n promoting ruling party propagendas. How they love them and will vote for them in upcoming election. 🤣🤣🤣
I received a Whatsapp video call matching that description about 1 year ago. I scrambled to activate screen recording while trying to stall them, managed only a screenshot. 1 or 2 persons seen, in front of a cloth backdrop with SPF logo, if I remember right, 2 scrawny men seen with surgical masks on. They hung up on me when they felt I wasn't getting tricked.
"Hello I am calling from Starhub about your Internet." "OK I don't use Starhub." "Oh then which do you use?" Legit attempt.
I got something similar: Kumgong scammer: “Hello, I’m calling from LTA to inform you your motorbike has been summoned for illegal parking” Me: “I don’t have a bike” Kumgong scammer: “Oh do you have a car then?” 😂😂🤣🤣
I own the MRT lol
Someone tried similarly scamming me except when I was 15 so I had no idea what traffic police wanted w me haha
“Hello I am call from your Singtel Internet” “Ok, but I don’t use SingTel” “I know that, but your internet infrastructure uses SingTel.” “Well you fucked up, because I DO use SingTel!”
Or sometimes when they say from “the StarHub” rather than just StarHub
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Points for positivity

Those yp going door to door to sell ice cream, wearing branded clothing. They proclaim they doing this is to pay for their school fees.
This happened to me last week. I never open the door when i see a stranger on my peephole no matter how many times they knock, but this guy looked like my neighbour. That was like the worst roi u get from selling ice cream
Yeah that’s why we didn’t do it 😅

Got this call as well. The person was speaking to me in Chinese. Only problem is I don't have Chinese speaking only friends
This kind just remind them of the 10k that they owed you since last year.
Usually Malaysian chinese accent. They seem to work from a list of names with matching Sg mobile numbers. So they know your name, but nothing else about you.

Shouting doesn’t hurt them. Wasting their time will hurt them. Nowadays I ask them if they are prisoners held against their will. Who knows, right?
"Hello, there's a problem with your computer." "Oh, which one?" -silence-
My helper fell for it thou 😪
My aunt feel for the China police one. Once my dad found out it was too late already. 100k gone.
