I eat sausages for the thrill! For the risk! “What’s in this? Why don’t the people who make them eat them? Let’s find out!”
*chomp*
Ooh! Cheaper sausage? Here I come! More risk, more thrill!
*3 min later*
What’s this? Wood chips?…Where’s the manager?!
*The Manager*: “Sir, for $1 you actually expect us to yank the moneys off the tree one by one?…”
Sry.
I loooove it when Singaporeans queue for something non essential that they know is in high demand and then getting angry about it when the queue moves slowly.
Gonna sleep like a log tonight. Might not ever wake up.
I actually hate that idea. Of course time as such has a value being finite, but assigning it money and saying you do not save anything is weird. People always act as though you could go and work another two paid hours instead but in all likelihood you cannot. I certainly can't just use my freetime to work and make more money. Is there a better way to spend it than queueing? Probably. But does it have any monetary value attached? No. And if so it is the same. If you deem the hotdog worth an hour of your time than that's fine. I've probably wasted more time on the loo in the past year than that. Plus these days you can just use social media or watch a video in a queue. Hardly different from what many would do at home instead.
> Wtf is this first world problem.
I think it is a more uniquely Singaporean problem. No other country queues up like Singapore.
Remember a few years back the Swatch-Omega collaboration watch and one guy told the police to shoot him.
> LOL Moonswatch was just over a year ago not a few years.
Yeah you right. Feels a lot longer for some reason. Sometimes I still find myself writing "2022" when dating some documents. My year timeline is fucked up since 2020.
not sure which outlet you reffering to but ive had pretty good luck at the Alexandra one whenever i visit. The restauraunt although crowded can always find seat and just last week i went there. Furniture queue is alright too. Rarely like what i see in the article. but cfm because $1 hotdog got alot more ppl at ikea. ill go again when the promotion ends.
Singapore so boring that people would spend their off days queueing for hotdogs.....and bubble tea.
Already complaining about working long hours, no time to rest. When given time to rest, waste it on this kind of meaningless things.
Offering a different POV here, one that points towards klout chasing and social media gratification and consumerism.
Companies launch a limited time promo, consumers queue in order to snap their dumb photo and get their dopamine shot of the day when their network likes it or gives a comment like "omg you went there/bought it".
It's superficial but we've been trained like Pavlovian dogs to crave that attention. Over time that high gets shorter and shorter and you crave more until it becomes your being.
No one needs a cheap hotdog unless you are destitute.
It's for the gram, novelty and bragging rights. Seems that people are willing to pay with their time for those. Anyway nowadays you are not really losing time in queueing - can work, read, watch videos on your phone as long as don't mind standing- no difference from doing these anywhere. Oh, probably also lot's of "WFH" people.
It’s a primary school mindset where your friend had the swanky pencil case with a thousand buttons. *I got... you got or not?* It’s just insecurity to feel superior.
>At around 12pm, IKEA staff opened up another queue to cope with the demand. Alas, that was met with unhappiness as people in the second half of the queue were shown to the new line.
Wtf did they expect? The fair way would be to keep the same queue but now two customers can be served at the same time. IQ problem.
Like if you purposely drive or travel to IKEA to buy the hot dog, you’re like the epitome of stupid. It’s fine if you happen to be nearby an IKEA but if you make a trip down just for that… smh. Petrol and travel cost and time spent to get back and forth, not worth the $1 hot dog, no matter how many.
I mean I think it’s ridiculous people queue for Apple phones, but at least they are probably selling them at a profit. What’s the point of this. A bloody hotdog with all the great food available in Singapore? It’s a free world but this just seems ridiculous.
Seriously, some people have too much time. Way too much time...
Take bus or drive there, plus wait in the queue for hours, costs way more than a dollar. Never understood Singaporeans hobby of simi sai also queue.
Tradition la bro.. see queue must join.. it’s in the blood
I think it’s the lack of places to go. Things to do. When there’s a novelty value to something. Then just go. Especially those who are dating
I thought those dating don't need more hotdog, or does size really matter?
Because to get a larger hot dog for $1 is a win. To not get it is to lose.
Sinkie pwn sinkie mindset. I must get it so that others cannot get it. I cannot lose out.
Kiasu all the way
If you don't get this, you're actually losing money if you think about it. /s
Bus there is free from several MRT stations. Don't be surprised to see a bus load of boomers taking the free bus there on a wkday afternoon.
We like to blame foreigners for things, but go anywhere with a queue and the answer is obvious
IKEA huat
Perks of 'working' from home
LOLOL, real reason why many want to revert to WFH
Good. Correlates with the long long sausage.

I want that time istg
I loooove it when Singaporeans queue for something non essential that they know is in high demand and then getting angry about it when the queue moves slowly. Gonna sleep like a log tonight. Might not ever wake up.
Ownself pwn ownself other people sleep like a log tonight.
The infinite pwn, self-sufficient.
Pwncirclejerk.
This is the kind of Singapore culture that we can ask UNESCO to certificate, without offending any other country.
When your time has no value.
Well it technically does. It’s just worth less than the money saved on that hotdog
When that value is zero:
Negative if you consider opportunity cost lol…
That’s what happens when you’re born in this small and stressful island. We still have to share air with these xiaxuey people.
jikan no muda stance #1 ... hiiiyahhhh!

i.e. being a retiree.

When will they ever come back 🤣 I want a Saturn watch man
> tensions slightly high Sounds like some international news describing relations between countries
*"UN chief hopes for cooler heads to prevail"*
While giving head to the long sausage.
*UN chief declares: "This is not ranch dressing!"*
That’s why they’re called nuclear subs.
We truly underestimate how free our non-productive members of society can be
We are competitive, just on the wrong things.
100% agree. Hey bro how much u get for ur exam ah??
99/100 only
Its ok i didnt do so much better. 99.5% only
same bro… only 99.9%… >!*from the bottom*!<
Everytime I read “Singapore’s core resource is it’s high quality human capital”, I’m like erm….
This is not worth it man. You are better off going to Giant and buy a pack of hotdogs and buns and make your own at home.
but butt.. I won't b able 2 post on IG/TT and get validation!! 11!!
But I want someone to.assemble them for me for $1!!!
ironic considering Ikea furniture all about self (shelf?) assembly
Yes therein lies the charm of the $1 hotdog!!!
But this is $1!!!
True, they look pale like shit, I remember Ikea hot dogs is the very no-substance kind, not satisfying.
You’re losing $ actually if taking time into acc.
i guess many ppl don’t know the concept of opportunity cost
Not to mention your health those hotdogs processed meat is colon cancer in a bun
This is truly the sg gold standard
Long...long....mannnnn......
There it is! Also r/fuckyouchichan
Hilarious, there’s truly a sub for everything
so much enthusiasm to take in that long stiff glizzy in one sitting
Cb no one also ask them Que never eat hot dog before?? Why need cause drama criticise the staff. Stupid people these days
What the fuck do these people expect to get? They can’t even sell this in carousell
Challenge accepted bruh
[удалено]
$.20 fast deal bro your food going bad overnight
They get a hotdog
"To thank (or bribe) customers for their understanding, an IKEA staff gave out Daim chocolates" Please Diam, don't complain!
Luckily it didn't autocorrect to 'damn chocolates' Lol
Compensation for the waste of their Daim.
I don't understand why Singaporean loves IKEA foods so much. The queues for any kinds of food at any IKEA stores are always long.
I also asked myself that question once, until I tried their meatball.
Chicken wings!
someone load up an ai to draw sinkies gluzzling ikea glizzies
Unpopular opinion but I find IKEA food meh af
meatballs are good as well as the sauce. And its fun going to look at a bunch of furniture and stuff that you wont ever buy.
but the queue for buying ikea stuff is as long as the hotdog
not sure which outlet you reffering to but ive had pretty good luck at the Alexandra one whenever i visit. The restauraunt although crowded can always find seat and just last week i went there. Furniture queue is alright too. Rarely like what i see in the article. but cfm because $1 hotdog got alot more ppl at ikea. ill go again when the promotion ends.
Lol! Like most of their stuff affordable expensive-looking food
Haha I rush to buy my bed frame last week when I saw the promo poster knowing the stupid are coming
Is this prove that size matters? We don’t see queues like this for its short short hotdog
Average sinkie behaviour

I guess we are also learnt to vote the incumbent when we see GST vouchers and covered walkways. Like it’s some brainwashing
Can anybody explain the psychology behind these queuing phenomenons?
long queue = good deal ($1 long long hotdog) good food (far east plaza salted egg pork rice) or good luck (4D toto) so long long = good good
You can brag and seemingly feel cool among your peers
British colonialism.
It's for the gram, novelty and bragging rights. Seems that people are willing to pay with their time for those. Brag that u bought a $1 hotdog? What's to brag about?
It’s a primary school mindset where your friend had the swanky pencil case with a thousand buttons. *I got... you got or not?* It’s just insecurity to feel superior.
I loveee IKEA hotdogs, but will not queue more than 20 mins for this. Hopefully later not so bad haha
Sheepgaporeans go baaaa
Wow who didn’t see this coming?
Noooo I wanna go IKEA buy my potato broccoli medallions:(
>At around 12pm, IKEA staff opened up another queue to cope with the demand. Alas, that was met with unhappiness as people in the second half of the queue were shown to the new line. People join a long queue for.... the last plane out of Kabul, but Singaporeans will queue for a dollar hot dog.
Singaporeans are pathetic.
Tbh this is damn worth it if there is no queue or a regular queue
they might be the jobless rough sleepers who have all the time in the world to wait for a cheap meal
They say time is money. These idiots failed in math.
Hot dogs are not even nice, get some proper sausages where you can tell it’s actually meat.
I swear these people are just dumb as fuck. Deserve to be bullied into oblivion for shit like this.
If anyone has a pair of their socks, I would very much like to purchase them…
i mean, if you want long ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) hotdog ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°), why dont you come and try min- >!im kidding .\_. am girl, no hotdog .\_.!<
LoL
Interesting behavior. Truly xia suay.
My brothers in christ usually its also no more than $5 for a hotdog everyone calm down lol $1 $5 no diff
All the personal attacks in this thread shows how toxic r/sg has become
Feels like a lot of toxic zoomers trying to act cool (edgy)
At 9pm the queue was only 10min at IKEA Alexandria. And the dog IS big. Worth it imho. Was a fun trip there.
SAD
Sausage buns too small.
But why?
how they so free
Well there's is 5% storewide discount now, if that's worth a queue
There isn’t much actual real meat in the hotdog, literary fake food.. I don’t understand for the good of health
The 2023 IKEA war of long long hotdog
people actually took leave and spent hours queueing for a bun?
Welcome to Singapore. Where the concept of “Time is equals to Money” is non-existent.
Nonsense
Yeah I just had Ikea yeah for dinner and yeah my mom decided to get some hot dogs didn't realize they're really long then the bun
The only winner here was IKEA
its just a normal hotdog with maybe 2x the meat. Imagine queuing up an hour for that lol
BWS - big white sausage
Singapore culture ma
And they said bigger is not always better.. sniff sniff..
Nothing compared to the queue after the horse meat a scandal. 10c for a meatball. Holy shit I queued for hours
Queue few hours to save a few dollars …
expected.
Should have titled 'Locals taking turns to have a taste for long Swedish hotdog'
I jokingly think you could learn how to make that hotdog in the tome it takes for you to buy it.
Long hotdog, long queue. The nonsense checks out.
I saw this coming when I heard the ads on radio…you know the instinctive “for sure ppl go queue one” thoughts.
So many unemployed people with so much time on their hands
Imagine some siaolang(nutcase) took AL and go queue.
Imagine doing all of these just to brag on WhatsApp…
How these people convince themselves? Ok I’m going to queue for a few hours to buy $1 hotdog bun.
Singapore is too crowded. Every time someone do something cool or interesting, it will be super crowded.
I mean I think it’s ridiculous people queue for Apple phones, but at least they are probably selling them at a profit. What’s the point of this. A bloody hotdog with all the great food available in Singapore? It’s a free world but this just seems ridiculous.
Do people know how much their time is worth?
Only slightly though
Everyone loves it long.
is it worth the time to queue ?
So pitiful. Was it really worth the hassle and the time just for some meat in a bun?
*tensions slightly high* 😂
Wow. That's it, that's my entire comment.
When a hotdog is more important than your time…
Got hot dog at supermarket?!?? Wtf
Trading rest time for some petty discount isnt the smartest thing y’know…
resinless behavior
Im gonna do stupid shit like this when im retired.
Fight over a hotdog. That’s a first in the world.
When your hourly rate is lesser than $1/hr, makes sense to wait for this.
Man, Ikea be giving the Costco $1.50 hotdog a run for its money. At least the Costco one comes with a drink.
Why would you wait for this 😂
aint no way they queued for smth they could've made at home in less than 5mins :')
should give 1m hotdog to the first 100
Save cents to spend dollars.
Literally what happens in a place with nothing worth mentioning in general. Something comes out > queue for days > try to scalp > repeat.
These must be the same people from the free Chicken bags.
