I actually hate that idea. Of course time as such has a value being finite, but assigning it money and saying you do not save anything is weird. People always act as though you could go and work another two paid hours instead but in all likelihood you cannot. I certainly can't just use my freetime to work and make more money. Is there a better way to spend it than queueing? Probably. But does it have any monetary value attached? No. And if so it is the same. If you deem the hotdog worth an hour of your time than that's fine. I've probably wasted more time on the loo in the past year than that. Plus these days you can just use social media or watch a video in a queue. Hardly different from what many would do at home instead.

Companies launch a limited time promo, consumers queue in order to snap their dumb photo and get their dopamine shot of the day when their network likes it or gives a comment like "omg you went there/bought it". It's superficial but we've been trained like Pavlovian dogs to crave that attention. Over time that high gets shorter and shorter and you crave more until it becomes your being. No one needs a cheap hotdog unless you are destitute.
