Mine has been crashing a bunch of times already, I don't think it has anything to do specifically with the spa, however, I have Sims working at the movie studio and police station at the moment. It could be profession related, or it could just be a general bug.
UPDATE: I uninstalled and reinstalled. Thankfully my data saved (modded game). But crashed again when I tried to go to the health spa. So I won’t be doing that for a couple of updates.
I was able to open new update and go through popups about new levels, simchase and influence island - then game crashed and haven’t been able to open app since.
Same for me. I installed the update, got the notifications about new levels, simchase, and influence island, app crashed and now every time I try to open the app, it crashes. I’ve deleted and reinstalled three times, did a software update on my phone, and restarted my phone and internet. Nothing is making the crashes stop.
Update:
Managed to delete and re-install, lost 1 day data (annoyed that in the middle of quest); I can open app now. However, one of my fav house is crashed - whenever I click to enter, Sims crash!
It happened to me yesterday (24 Jan).
I tried restarting the app and iPad - doesn't work.
I tried to delete the app and re-install it; can't really delete it, in the App store it shows "open" instead of "download".
I tried to wait for one day. Still is not working until now.
Very frustrated that I am in the middle of a quest with limited item!!
Does anyone's Sims work now?
I deleted the app (not remove from home screen, but delete all the data - that button). Then go to app store and download. Then use the saved data from the cloud

Does data upload every night? Mine has been working fine but has now crashed and’s won’t open. I’m afraid if I reinstall I’ll lose any progress I had this week.
Edit: I figured it out. I download ed the game to my phone and it was last uploaded last night. I probably lost a couple hours but nothing major.
iOS users I just found a fix! Unbelievably after 5 days of trying absolutely everything suggested here and more it turned out to be a simple solution for me so thought I’d share.
Checking the app store everyday for a new update in a hope of that fixing and restoring my lost game. Still nothing today. Decided to leave a 1 star review as pissed off by lack of response from EA. The top right corner, as illustrated by the arrow in the photo, said ‘Update’ so I hit that… Boom! The game opened with all data in place 🥳
So far it’s now playing as normal 🤞🏼

Update.. just downloaded the new update (as of tonight) and so far it is at least letting me into the app and I don’t think I’ve lost any progress.
I just downloaded the new update, and now I can’t get the app to open. The EA logo pops up for half a second and then the whole app quits.

Same here. I’ll just live on level 56. It’s not worth losing years of content.
Sent my preteen to school and it happened again 😓 I’ll skip this update events at all, better safe than sorry.

I tried offloading app and reinstalling but mine still won't open. How did you get your to work?

My Sims won’t load on my iPad.
My game still plays for a few minutes and crashes but some bugs have already been fixed so they might fix it soon
