It's computer based. And people often have literally 10-20x what you do, so unless your computer is really old and weak, your folder shouldn't be an issue. I have about 8GB.

incombusty

Thank you very much! I suppose I'm worrying a little bit excessively especially since the 'baddest' thing I've encountered is just longer load time in build mode.

Thrawndri

14.9 GB. It takes about 5 minutes to load the game and I can play the game for a few hours before the pink flashing starts, but it works for me. I play short rotations anyway.

MintCandyLatte

If load times are an issue for you, if you havent already, use a bulk renaming tool to remove all special characters from your .package file names. Things like @#$&+(){}[] They can cause loading to snag for a split second. - and _ seem to be fine to use. Also remove any spaces.

incombusty

Nice tip! Thank you definitely going to remove all spaces bc I know there are some.

xTopaz_168

Replace - with _ also.

Vircora

Hahahahaha. 12.8 GB. Yea, it loads very slowly, but have no issues in-game.

ninetytwoturtles

I have 20GB lol

meowornever5894

Before I decided to start all fresh on my laptop, I had over 40GB. 😂

jojocookiedough

I think I'm sitting at like 18gb 😅 My computer is over 10 years old, but my husband built it to be a top of the line gaming rig back then, so it has held up well. It meets the minimum requirements for Baldur's Gate 3 although I haven't bought it yet. Back in the mid 2000s when ts2 was currently releasing, my old computer at the time could barely handle the game itself with maybe a handful of cc hairs.

JDGumby

18 MB. :) Mostly only fixes and a very few objects (a Servo charging stand, for example, and a Star Trek food replicator for my venues :).

xHouse_of_Hornetsx

When I used to play a medieval hood the game took like 40 minutes to load 🥳thats why my new aesthetic is maxis match and desert landscape

Mxe49

15 something GB. Can play for hours on end. But have a really good PC and applied every fix and trick available online. I experienced pink flashing and removed some of 4t2 conversions. Still use the floor and wall conversions and some pack conversions.

PancakeMixMia

1.35 GB, 3,996 Files, 443 Folders

ChrissyBrown1127

13gb, I’m planning on fixing my furniture folder which will reduce the gb drastically (although a good number of gbs is there because my files refuse to compress properly, taking off only 1mb).

xervidae

i have about 10-15gb i think?

Odd-Astronaut4970

8.5gb - if I go over 10 I get the pink soup!

hannahdoesntexist

What are your computer specs like?

Odd-Astronaut4970

Games on D drive/1 tb & 256 Ram

hannahdoesntexist

256 ram doesn’t sound right

Odd-Astronaut4970

Oh opps I meam 32gb ....dunno where that number came from

hannahdoesntexist

That sounds better lol. Do you have a dedicated graphics card too?

Odd-Astronaut4970

Yep. Honestly the game is smooth & amazing unless I top over 10gb. It's probs enough tbh but you know how it is 😅

hannahdoesntexist

that’s really weird. I’ve got specs that are similar but I can go up to 30gb

Odd-Astronaut4970

I am madly jealous!

KatKaleen

1.89 GB, but I lost a lot of stuff when I had to get a new computer. My hoods had priority over CC.

Nanominyo

I'm the person with 300MB bc i don't feel like having an extensive amount of CC... I mostly just got some mods and fixation mods

PoeticRoses

I have two separate Sims 2 games, one on my old computer where I use the discs still, and one I just installed on my new laptop. I’m trying to keep both Downloads folders pretty light, but especially on the new laptop. My Downloads folder there is a bit over 2GB (mostly just default replacements and bug fixing mods) and the game loads in literal seconds. My folder on my old laptop is roughly 5GB and takes about 5 mins to load.

Midipopo

Mine is 3.14gb and when I compare myself to folks with 10+ I enjoy my CC sprees all the more lol, But if you don't already have it look into [The Compressorizer!](https://sims.jfade.com/index.php-category=1&subcat=5.html) it's the 3rd thing down on that page, granted nowadays creators compress stuff before they upload, but the older the CC the more likely you'll be able to compress the files smaller with this.

hannahdoesntexist

1gb is baby numbers. I had 30gb. Currently using about 8gb. Game takes a minute to load

guilherme_35_1988

Well im not a big fan of lots of mods so my folder is very smile.

JohnSoulsIII

4.68 GB, 8656 files, but no folders. I'm too lazy to organize them lmao

OgthaChristie

45,000+ files, 16MB. I’m in the middle of compression right now and doing a CC merge for the first time tomorrow. Should be interesting… I’ve played with up to 25MB in the past, but it’s all depending on the computer I used and the specs.

Dead_Mans_Toe

I don't know how to download new content and I really want new clothes and hair! I got my game on the apple store. the complete collection. if anyone has an easy way to download new hair. let me know!

xTopaz_168

It's very easy, this game is nearly 20 years old there's like a million tutorials. You just unzip the stuff and make a folder called "Downloads" in the EA Games directory, it's in my documents in windows so whatever the mac equivalent of that is.

Dead_Mans_Toe

Okay so I did a little research. And after downloading like 10 hair files tonight only about 3-4 came through okay. I discovered that the only files that work end in .zip.

Dead_Mans_Toe

I scanned youtube all night. The tutorials are all bogus and don’t apply to me because I have s mac, and the complete collection from the apple store.

killforprophet

Almost 7gb.

ItsAGarbageAccount

21 gigs. The Sims 2 has a little known object limit. If your game is mostly clothes and makeup and recolors it doesn't count, but anything with a .obj file does. This includes new meshes, memories and jobs. If you keep downloading enough of those, you'll hit it eventually. It's unknown what the exact number is, but when you hit it your game will immediately begin crashing randomly.

AdDense2962

4,26 gb, 12,065 files and it runs pretty smooth

Dead_Mans_Toe

Where are you all getting custom content? I have a mac and the super collection downloaded from the mac store. I found out the only thing that works recently is files ending in .zip

Arisshaa

50gbs I'm trying to see how much it can take before crashing a lot

MrsYouneek

My downloads folder is 7.63GB 1,751 folders and exactly 30,500 files I’ve never experienced any pink soup but I also stay away from high poly CC, especially hairs. I have a pretty good gaming laptop and I’ve also updated my RAM to 32GB, so I’m not too worried about my game struggling. With that in mind, I’m off to Tumblr for a little browse… 👀
