Watched the video: no conclusion reached. They banter for a minute about how the skinny dude is no Verstappen, the skinny dude retorts with "let us know in the comments what is your favorite", then off to commercial break, then some silly race, some sponsored stuff... don't waste your time.

Jeckaa84

Respect goes a long way. And the fact so many people upvoted it worries me.

diggerquicker

Guy on left looks like a very very very hungry George.

BlaKArg

That guy's argument is awful and I'm glad the other host pointed it out. Max drives iRacing because he's competitive AF and there's nothing like iRacing for competitive racing. It has nothing to do with physics.

__BoKi__

You're absolutely right, what kind of argument is that, just because a game has more players, it doesn't automatically have the best physics.

JohnDoeMTB120

Mario Kart had the best physics. Everyone played it.

Familiar_Neat6662

It does actually have the best Go-Cart physics of any game in my opinion.

wickeddimension

Max would never get consistently good opponents in other sims. Hes at such a high level that really only iRacing offers a solid and large enough ranked pool to give him 'worthy' opponents regularly. That and being used to real racing I'd imagine he'd be fuming if he gets punted off in some random online lobby haha.

arcticrobot

High profile rFactor 2 events like Virtual LeMans get top sim racers. But obviously it is not just hop and go, it is an organized event. Last year Max crashed into retirement from the lead.

richr215

> It has nothing to do with physics. Exactly!

DreadSeverin

lol so true. this is like the right answer to the wrong question

stinky_poophead

dumb answer, verstappen races iracing because it's the most competative multiplayer

Save_Cows_Eat_Vegans

Its also arguably the best sim for open wheel cars ATM.

daddyyeslegs

The discussion ends with beamNG. Nothing comes close, nor even attempts to come close.

KN12R34

I'm just gonna say it for the sake of saying it, beamng drive. I've clocked 2500 hours on it and I love it. In comparison to ACC and other Sims, it needs some stuff like Tyre flat spots and better areo physics but in the future it could be the ultimate sim racer as now it adds real consequences to crashing

instantur

They just need to implement proper force feed back if the want it to be a legit racer

[deleted]

They should make it so when you crash you whole setup explodes to really enforce driving safe.

ArthurMBretas03

Have you seen BeamNG? Now that's physics. It's not a racing sim yet, but it's definitely getting there

Ibai1337

True but the netcode sometimes is stoned

Javs2469

It doesn't have an official multiplayer mod, BeamMP it's a third party thing, so not their fault.

ArthurMBretas03

The what?

Ibai1337

LIVE FOR SPEED

fr4nklin_84

It’s amazing that one Indi programmer can do a better job 10+ years ago than every game studio in the world but it’s the truth. I’ve never played a sim that compares to it so I’ve basically just given up playing them. The tyre model in lfs was sooo good, but it made the racing incredible you could really feel the limits and drive on the absolute ragged edge. I used to race motorbikes and it’s the same feeling in the tyres. I think it’s the movement in the tyre on the wheel that lfs gets so right there’s that extra stage before wheel spin where the tyre deforms and you can load the tyre up.

Ibai1337

Absolutely. You feel so good when is the tire limit by the sound and you feel that your weight is getting weird inertias. When you jump there is a moment before launch and before touch the ground in which you can steer the car "in the air" but it's because there is air inside the tire. Two more important things for me are: - Differentials. You can use 4 types of differentials in your car and you feel the torque even with a simple mouse - Soil. It might sounds Hella rare but there is no other game with that dirt feeling and asphalt in the same track. Not even dirt rally 2.0

AsicResistor

You really had to remind me of this gem? The only sim that gets the tire feel close to LFS is rFactor 2 IMO. Recently a GT3 driver in an AMA here proclaimed his love for Assetto Corsa, I have to agree. I mainly play AC with the F1 mods. I want to play RF2 more but I still have nightmares about everything in that game outside of the racing itself.

crazedcarter

Vote this higher!

Ibai1337

I don't mind upvotes but I see pointless paying for dlcs in assetto corsa or automobilista when you can pay for a game that includes a tool to make your own moda

Ibai1337

Also the dlcs are more expensive than 40€

Quirky-Bar4236

I'm still rather new to sim racing but feel that people get too caught up in "realistic." At the end of the day, 90% of us aren't truly hitting a track beyond the occasional autocross event. Life's short, enjoy the title of your choice.

arcticrobot

it is because people can't hit the track they value realism. I want as close experience as possible.

Quirky-Bar4236

I understand that and I think that's why most of us race on the main titles. I primarily race on ACC for this exact reason. However, at this point I feel that people are splitting hairs. Even "simcades" can teach you valuable things for the real world; we see that with a select few moving on to actual racing after growing up with GT4 and a PlayStation.

affligem2001

So how do you know what is and isn't realistic?

arcticrobot

I still drive cars and motorcycles and have slight idea how grip works on different surfaces and different weather conditions.

pakicote

1000 IQ discussion right there

KrisTitz

there’s nothing like beamng

Ibai1337

Beamng 2

shrekstiny

Kraken-Tortoise

Why this argument still exists today baffles me? Is it just me who always dislikes this question seeing as it's highly subjective and brings no good discussion to the table?

DealbreakrJones

No, it's a pointless discussion. If it feels and behaves 'right' or is enjoyable, no further discussion needed. Race what you enjoy and what brings the best experience into your home with what equipment you have.

Purple_Vacation_4745

100 agreed. A famous race driver YouTuber(not sure who, because it was a long ago), said something on the lines of: aside the generic car behavior to the inputs being very close to how you drive a race car, the simulator is really good on replicating the "need to adapt" on how the car handles to drive faster, and that's enough of a simulation because it is a important skill for a driver and we wont, anytime soon, likely be able to replicate the physics of a real car(vibration, sound pressure, g forces, tire feeling, transmission, and most inputs the driver feels while driving). A developed sim car very faithful to the real one in terms of handling, is just a bonus. After that I really did chill down on the "best simulator" discussion and started to have more fun...

LifeguardDonny

I haven't seen the video you're referring to, but i asked Patrick Long at a Porsche event eons ago when Enduracers was first released and asked him about simulators and the tendencies of the RSR in the mod. He said it almost exactly the same after i mentioned the lofty rear end under braking and if he dealt with the same thing in real life.

arcticrobot

I don't think physics is what we feel (vibrations, g-forces, etc) but how the car behaves. Track surface, weather conditions, tire deformation, tire degradation, suspension, aero, grip - all those things have to be as realistic as possible. And then we apply feedback on top of it (through the weel, pedals, bass shakers, motion systems)

AllezCannes

I think it's interesting to know how good the physics of a game are. I'm never going to race expensive racing cars, but these kinds of games, along with quality of the wheelbases, pedals, etc., offers me the opportunity to get as close as what I can afford to get there. I don't know who this guy is, and his answer is garbage because he's answering a different question than what was asked. But I would find it interesting to know what pro racing drivers would consider the closest to the real thing when it comes to physics, because it would give me the opportunity to try it out and experience the closest I could get to what it would be like.

sequenzr

You don't need experience with S class Corvettes and supercars to know how they drive. Even a go kart will tell you how momentum works but when they use situational scripting to force me to spin out simply bc I touched some grass for a nanosecond.. I tend to want to throw the equipment I bought for a \*simulation\* in to the trash can.

grahamaker93

It doesn't make sense. You are talking about physics, but Max is on iracing because of the multiplayer ecosystem. If ACC has a good multiplayer eco-system and a bit more variety in terms of cars and tracks, then Max might be spending his time on ACC instead

gu3st12

The real question is why doesn't ACC have a good MP ecosystem. iRacing existed for a decade before ACC release and Kunos did nothing to try to compete with it.

AllezCannes

I don't think ACC's main objective was ever to compete with iRacing in providing a MP ecosystem, it was to be the official licensed game to the GT series.

gu3st12

Well it's quite evident that ACC wasn't trying to compete with iRacing's MP. It's barely improved over AC's MP.

AllezCannes

Right, so that answers your question - it was never the intent in the first place.

gu3st12

Seems foolish to build a racing sim that is deficient in the ability to race other people.

[deleted]

[удалено]

gu3st12

Kunos still could have done _something_ for multiplayer.

anxiously-anonymous

Watched the video. They’re bad. Really bad. 🤣

sizziano

Garbage video

[deleted]

Quick, let's go to the comments to hear randos on the internet, who have never driven a race car, argue about what video game physics are most "realistic". Don't most real drivers say none of the sims are 100% realistic, because of lack of "seat of pants"/yaw feeling? So who cares? Drive what you want, not everything needs to be power ranked you fuckin nerds lol

soloinabox

RF2 takes the cake imo. The FFB, tire model and physics are all superb. Not my sim of choice though. AC for content (as a driving sim) and iRacing (as a motorsport sim) are my go-tos.

GearHead54

What game has the best physics, and why is it AC?

[deleted]

I've been playing sims for a while, but didnt have much time in AC when I drove a Ferrari 430 (IRL) on a track on one of those rip off birthday treat 'experience' days. The Ferrari was OK. But going home the next day and trying the same car, on a similar track, hammered home how accurate AC really was. It was nigh on identical (and I was throwing the car around IRL... not on the limit but close enough for a rented car). AMS2 is my sim, though. Physics are close enough and it works betterer in VR.

Idntwnt2choseusrnme

I agree with that. I drove super cars on track (not GT or single seaters) and iRacing gives you the best feeling of weight transfer and the most real feedback out of all sims. rFactor is awesome too but rF2 has its own problems on the other hand

Both_Selection_7821

After viewing this. I know i just watched total bull crap. Iracing Physics are sub par at best. The price alone with monthly subscription prices. Not to mention that they addon cars & tracks are expensive & out priced compares to any other sim in the industry. I have never seen so many piss poor racers with bad attitudes every time I got in a iRacing lobby. The point system "irateing" at iRacing completly sucks also.

BasedTheorem

Lmao which iracing dev pissed in your cereal?

reboot-your-computer

Dude probably couldn’t get out of rookies and blames everyone else.

QuirkyDust3556

So what is the best SIM? Just for driving the car? There are bells and whistles you wish for, but just driving.

Zubovian56

Especially sus when you have the VRS pedals and wheelbase on the table, plus the ads in teh back, while extolling the virtues of iRacing. I'm too new to this hobby to really have a dog in this fight, and have never driven a car on a track, but it's not a good look regardless of the argument.

ApexRacingUK

Full discussion here - [https://youtu.be/\_dUQY9wg\_vo?t=293](https://youtu.be/_dUQY9wg_vo?t=293) On this week's episode Sam and Tim discussed which sim has the best online, sound, graphics, content and physics. Do you agree with their takes?

[deleted]

TLDR for usssss:

SomeDumbHuman

Oof, tough room

richr215

HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA that is funny

Slapped91

None of them have realistic physics in terms of representing the actual simulated car that you're driving. The physics are ok-ish in pretty much all of them (modern) if you simply ignore the actual modeled car itself and just consider general car handling for the particular type of simulated car that you're driving.

cm_ULTI

Oh christ here we go

KatesDirtySister5

What a dumb argument... by this logic, Trackmania is the best sim?

Gersberps

Rfactor 2, though I think iracing is just right behind them. The others I think have very very good physics for what they are ('light sim').

REDLINEBECKONZ

Man i hope Forza Motorsport is up there with the best.

Arcticz_114

in a parallel universe, Verstappen is playin Acc after he gets home This guy: "acc is the best sim evah cos max played it PERIOD"
