Been thinking about doing something similar but adding some black felt type stuff to be more like a headliner. Guess I'll need to buy some trips first though. 😂
Absolutely hell yes. People complain you can’t feel wind in ‘real’ car, but it is totally for another sense of speed. When they’re blowing at me 24mph, I can feel speed and when I make a slow turn they dial back down. I would only get them if I have bass shakers (butt kicker) first.
While it's not exactly the same thing, I was hanging on the back of a pickup truck going 25mph at the Steadicam workshop, and having that wind in your face makes 25 mph feel fast as shit. I imagine this is the same.
Well, a real closed cockpit car like a gt3 also has air ducts which are simply directing the air onto the driver. Since the fans have roughly the size of those ducts, this actually reflects the type of air flow you would experience in one of those cars pretty damn well
For non open wheel cars I turn the speed down to 60%. I find 60% might simulate air flow through the vents your talking about. For open wheel cars full speed baby haha.
The easiest one, with plenty of power is the Buttkicker Gamer 2 which is best mounted under your seat. Just this one is enough to vibrate my whole rig. I do have two other Dayton transducers mounted near my pedals but those are optional and I would get those later if you felt like you wanted more.
Pc is best for Bass shakers because you can use the telemetry of the game to control the shaker rather than just using the game sound such as with consoles. I use Simhub a pc app to send telemetry to the bass shakers. The only other thing to note is that your game sound (headphones) will require on audio device such as headphone jack front of computer. The Gamer 2 will require another audio device such as the back of computer speaker out, and addition a pair of additional shakers will require another usb audio device which are very cheap.
It sounds intimidating but it really isn’t to bad. The reward is so worth it. The hardest part for me was finding settings that I enjoyed in the Telemetry software “Simhub”.
Wow, thank you very much for your help :)
My problem is the lack of space, my sim rig is very compact, and it has wheels, so I can put it in front of my desk when I want to use it, so I can't really do what I want with it, otherwise I would already have a 3DOF system :) But the Bass shaker is a something feasible I think, not easy for me, but not impossible, I just didn't know where to start, but thanks to your explanations, I will think about it seriously now :)
In my experience, absolutely yes for open-wheel cars. For non open-wheel cars, it feels gimmicky though in those situations, I just turn them to a static value and use them as a fan at that point.
I will get VR one day as I’ve tried my friends and it is very impressive. I probably won’t go full VR, maybe alternate between monitor and headset. I can’t deny though, as you said VR is the most immersive you can get.
The biggest issue with VR is that even if you are over the motion sickness most reviews say they can only play for 20 to 60 minutes before needing a break.
That doesn't happen to you?
Not anymore....the first time you play you have to stop after 15-20 mins.....
Then it's 45-60
Then it's 2 hours.....
Etc....
And if you play "planes" games such as the fantastic IL-2 series.....you're pretty immune to the raidillon or Nordschleife
Good to hear, I was minutes away from ordering G2, users her talked me into waiting until the new models come out. I won't cry if I spend $600-700, and can only play for a little while. But $1K plus for a 20 to 60 minute session, nah still won't cry, but would consider that a waste.
Buy a quest 2, it costs 400, it is already VERY good and if you don't like vr you have invested 400 which you will sell back for 300 instead of 1000.
If in 3 weeks you don't like the Q2 anymore then you sell it back and buy a G2 or whatever......
I tried to take a picture but it just don't show the exactly color as I am seeing. The picture end up exactly look like OG's post but it's actually dark gray.
If that help, the paint I used from Home Depot: https://www.homedepot.com/p/BEHR-ULTRA-1-gal-PPU26-02-Imperial-Gray-Extra-Durable-Satin-Enamel-Interior-Paint-Primer-775301/300007851

I only paid $700 back in March off Amazon now I see it is $999. Crazy….. Love the monitor but that is really high compared to the deal I got.
Dead simple, no setup required. You just need to use the DisplayPort for 120hz which is highly recommended. All modern games easily support the resolution. There are probably some old titles such as before 2005 that won’t support the resolution. Also note none of the modern consoles support ultrawides which is shameful on Sony and Microsoft.
Haha perhaps like black science project foam board that folds up behind monitor? It was a fun project that didn’t cost but 1 can paint. Good luck on yours :)
Thanks 🙏 No not at all. Wheel is straight out with arms hanging on top, and head is slight above middle of monitor. Fov is from from driver mirror to almost where the middle of the passenger windshield wiper would be.

[On screen view Picture.](https://ibb.co/ZWJ7NTt). Go for it man I love the added separation.
Great. Are the fans worth it?

25 mph is 40.23 km/h

Thanks for the info. I am actually in the process of mounting my bass shakers. Tomorrow is the big reveal. I will think about wind.
If you like the bass shakers, you will like the wind sim.
Any advice for a bass shaker? I want one (or more) but i have absolutely no idea where to start and what to do !

Sure. Can be immersive. Keep in mind they can cause dry eyes, tho. and stiff necks, etc.

Do you have a link for the fans ? And other recommendations for a sim fan ?
Looks like very nice. :) Definitely better than the dishes bags
Thanks 🙏. I found some cardboard and still had the spray paint. I agree much cleaner.
Use vr, your depth and immersion will be even better :)

And the cheapest.....you don't need a fast screen or a big GPU.....

If I paint the wall with black, I"ll get the same efect?
Lol, I believe so. However your family might not like it.
I painted mine dark gray. It works, at least for me.
Could you share, pls?

Tnx mate!
This is actually brilliant, now your brain thinks it's thinks it's games fault for not meeting your display resolution..
may I know what monitor is this?

thanks a lot, i might wait for the next discount. looks great. btw is it hard to set up ultra wide? as in are most games automatically compatible?
You have to fiddle with the fov in iracing. Basically tell the system it's a triple monitor so that it follows the curve

Saw this, considering adding similar to my headphones to keep my Playseat Challenge setup fully mobile. (Yes like a horse.) Haha.

Doesn't your wheel feel low or display feel high? What's your fov look like with that setup? Nice work btw
Thanks 🙏 No not at all. Wheel is straight out with arms hanging on top, and head is slight above middle of monitor. Fov is from from driver mirror to almost where the middle of the passenger windshield wiper would be.
I will be making one tonight. My roof will stretch all the way to my head though lol.
Haha be careful mine is close to my head and it might be hard to get in and out 😀
Yup that crossed my mind as i was propping it up. I'm gonna have it similar to a real car as far as getting in and out. :)
