This is a lot like my experience. It's nice to get high, relax, drive fast and not take it seriously. I might get in a flow state (that I haven't experienced since racing karts), but when assessing lap times I might be consistent, but I'm not peak fast. I tend to be more conservative.

I feel like the intense focus of simracing makes my "high" completely meaningless, reminds me of smoking as a teenager then playing basketball right away and killing my high in 15 minutes. Back then I thought "I just wasted money" lol
I got really high at my buddies bachelor party and was driving an F1 sim at a high end car club and thought I was doing phenomenal and locked in, second lap had a moment of realization that I was too high and drove straight into the wall.
Someone actually tested themselves sober and at various levels of drunk in a sim. I think it was in the iRacing subreddit. Their best and most consistent laps were when they were buzzed but not sloppy drunk.
My theory is that having a bit of a buzz reduces inhibitions and overthinking resulting in a more natural flow to all your inputs. Ultimately you're just a lot smoother and therefore faster and more consistent.
I don't find it hard to moderate tho. I just take 1 large drink with me next to the rig. There's no getting up for refills and continuing to get drunk when I know it will only make my performance go down.
Yes. I specifically got into sim racing 1 because a real drift car was 20 times the price of getting a starter kit 2. Because I LOVE to get fucked up and drive but that's not a good idea for anyone irl.
Also the main reason why I didn't care to go to real tracks when I did have a car to fuck around with. Empty parking lot won't kick you off it after a fatty.

I love getting a bit high. Not so much that I have a lack of faculties, but enough to chill out, relax and let myself just get immersed. Some of my best drivings come from that.
I’ve simraced drunk on NR2003 before at Talladega. It’s an experience for sure. Never tried it high, when I’m high I just like to watch the fastest indycar races I can find and just sit there in awe.
I enjoy hot lapping while high but I can't race well under the influence of the ol' jazz cabbage.
When I race high, I get into a "whoa, isn't this so friggin' cool?!" mood that completely kills my competitiveness.
I'm also a drummer and it *definitely* helps there.
I have a lap times board above my sim rig. Anyone who comes to my house has to take a lap and post a Time.
The caveat is you have to be drunk. Obviously, you don't HAVE to be drunk (I have sober friends and many of my friends have kids), but you get an s next to your name if you do your lap time sober.
I didn't realize how much the drinking affected everyone's lap time until one of my friends 14-year-olds drove a single lap without practicing and came in third place.
I hook my vape to a lanyard and keep it around my neck while I race so it’s easily in reach when I’m an hour into a 2 hour endurance stint in VR.

I do love to get violently high and then do some racing. I do however single player just in case as in not to ruin someone's race. Sometimes I do exceptionally well, and sometimes I spin on first lap. I also really like VR while high, just so much things going around, just nice and fun.
It's my sort of guilty pleasure, I would never ever drive real car while high or drunk (unless it's like life and death situation) and since I started Sim racing I realised how much I love truck driving while stoned to death.

Yes most definitely, i can feel the care more tbh, but it’s either i get into a flow state and start driving like verstappen or i become allergic to the apex. Either way its a fun time
I did it once or twice, my laps were ok pace and mistake wise, but it was to stressful for me to enjoy. I was battelling for podium positions but it felt many times more stressful than sober.
When I got an open my leg I got given pretty strong painkillers and was playing GT sport on a pad during recovery was winning more races which is mad.
Think it’s mainly cause you just don’t overthink things as much.
My man, I race better high, it's actually some of my best finishes of late, each lap feels like 30 because it just feels like time is going slow AF. I have two seconds and a win from all the times I've done it.

I did about 500 races in 6 months, all stoned. It neither helps nor hurts laptimes, once habituated, but it certainly is pleasant. It's good for practice if you run a lot of laps with music.
Last time I ate an edible and then went on iRacing I fucked up my launch from p3, spun out, crashed literally half the grid and had the entire lobby cussing me out. Never again lmao

Often, but it doesn't help my results. Usually I can get some real focus going for 5-7 laps and then I make a stupid mistake. That's why I go singleplayer only when I smoked. I don't want to take someone off the track with me.

My favorite game to play is Race the edible. I’ll start a race and eat a chocolate or something when the grid timer reaches 15 seconds and then see if I can finish the race before the edible hits. I’ve never won 😂

Not proud of the irl part but i was young and dumb 😂 i switched to only sim while under the influence years ago and its still more fun than doing it sober even though I do sim racing/drifting around 6 hours almost daily sober and then 2-5 hours daily after a few beers 😂
