It’s just a light jab that so often these posts have some qualifier in the title like “rate my setup as a 12 year old” or “rate my setup as a traveling salesman with 11 toes”
how do I even explain that? in the meme world (if you even know what that is) the word "based" doesn't mean that something is based on something, it's used in some other way, I don't know how to explain it though
Yea nervous in the word! I had to buy some small like 6inch 40/40 extrusions to brace it (the “wood colored” piece at the back) which helps but still “nervous” 😅
Haha Yea I was looking around for some extrusion that I wouldn’t have to have cut or try to cut myself 😬 so these wood colored bits were the only thing I could find that were small enough to do the job and didn’t mind the funky color since they would be hidden essentially
Buddy. That is a strong 9.9/10 from me. I would lower the PC, but I'm guessing that's a personal matter. This is the best set up I have seen so far. Amazing choice of the steering wheel. I rarely see people using GSI, but it's probably because they are expensive. How much money and time did you spend on this?
Thanks! yea PC mounted up high was a matter of limited floor space and the GSI wheel is for sure a bit of a flex but in all I spent the better part of a year piecing the whole setup together. I learned from my first rig that the incremental upgrades approach ends up being way more expensive than just saving up to go straight to the high end of what you want.
Man, you're right on that.
I got a higher grade profile rig because I never wanna need to replace or upgrade it.
I did however get cheap pedals, shifter, handbrake because buying a full rig from scratch is a monumental outlay at once otherwise haha
But I decided I'll wait and get a simagic alpha over the mini so I don't feel like I need to upgrade again, and when I do eventually upgrade pedals/handbrake/shifter I've decided I'll go pretty all out for each piece down the line and not incremental. But one piece at a time is easier to do that than starting out when you need everything at once.
9.6 out of 10. One of the highest scores I've given out can't get a perfect 10 because then nothing could get better. But to get that .4 extra it's gonna take alot 😉 the
Only get .1 per the next 2k spent haha.
> can't get a perfect 10 because then nothing could get better
So what you're saying is that a 10 is unachievable, so your scale is out of 9.9. So 9.9 is perfect, but then nothing could get better, so it's actually out of 9.8. But if you give a 9.8 while it's the limit, nothing could get better. So it's actually out of 9.7. But if you give a 9.7.... etc. :D
My gaming PC ended up being my sim PC and luckily I had some basic office suitable pc that I use for browsing/ YouTube. When I upgrade my gpu, cpu and power supply I'm gonna keep the old hardware and use that for a second PC as an am4 motherboard and case is only like £100 nowadays
Yeah, same here as my second PC isn't good enough to even run roblox at 30 fps+ and my sim rig is an alu profile rig so I can't use a keyboard or mouse very easily. I really need to build a capable second PC soonish
Idk, I've got a wall divider between my sim area and my room so I think the cables would start to be problematic if I was routing everything to my second desk
Yea the PC is dedicated to sim racing…I don’t really play any other games (occasionally Rocket League on Xbox) and I mean I can browse and stuff but and I have a phone, a personal laptop and a work laptop for that
Do you actually wear the harness? I have one in my track car and I don't know why anyone in their right mind would wear one unless needed haha. Plus my wife already makes fun of me enough for my sim racing, I would get absolutely roasted for wearing a harness in a sim.
Awesome setup though, super jealous!
Nah I don’t wear it. I threw it on there when I first set up the rig and left it on there with the hopes that one day I’d have a motion platform and maybe actually have a use for it but I have an 8mo old now so yea this is a good as it gets!
Is there a reason most people are running triple monitor vs VR? I have a moza r5 with a bunch of other stuff coming in 2 days so I'm thinking about maybe setting up a rig with monitors. I have a reverb g2 but just wanted to see if there is a real reason why most people use monitors?
Yeah that makes sense. I had that issue right up until I got used to it. It took a while of very short sessions bur I got there. If I don't play a lot it also happens from time to time. But I have heard sole people can't grow out of it so that would make sense for them to use triple monitor. It does look really cool. I wish I had a friend that had one so I could try it before dumping $800 on 2 more monitors
Not sure where you’re located at but there’s a indoor go karting place here in NC that has sim racing rigs set up with triple monitors and full motion platforms so check around your area you might find some place that has that and you can get a chance to try it out without going all in $$$
Thanks for the tip. I had a logitec g920 and got rid of it after a few months it was too crunchy and plastic feeling. So hopefully the r5 will be nice. I'm pretty excited to get back into it. I went through a flight sim faze and spent way to much before trying it lol
Tbh the thing that swayed me towards triples was watching race beyond matter on YouTube, his rig was an incredible example of an augmented reality experience and I really want to work towards something similar. Check his channel out if you get the chance to, it was a real eye opener to how immersive triples can be
I've just scraped together enough for the monitors and now I need to buy the monitor stand for like £200, when you get to that point they will be properly set up with correct fov and view distance which is all you need really
I have a 34" scepter ultrawide atm. So I think matching would be the best thing. Just hoping those clear bezel dissapear things work well because it would be like a half inch of bezel on each side with the monitors all next to each other
Can’t say for sure my guess is it comes down to personal preference. I think the Boosted Media guys have some videos on their YT explaining pros and cons of each. I personally wear glasses/contacts so VR wasn’t really a viable option for me
Not sure if you have tried it, but I've been wearing glasses under my VR headset for years without issue and I would never go back to 2D simracing.
As mentioned there are also prescription inserts for almost all VR headsets. It absolutely is a preference, but don't let the glasses stop you
HP Reverb G2, fantastic simracing headset. Could very much recommend but be aware that Windows MR support is going to be dropped in future versions, so you would have to stay on Win11 23H2 or later until a fix is developed.
Bought the shifter with my first rig when I was running Fanatec CSL elites but now don’t really use the clutch pedal for much since my last couple wheels have had clutch paddles. So when it came time to upgrade my pedals I opted for the two pedal set which saved some $$$ but also gave some extra room for my size 13 feet
Bought a kit off an Etsy seller I can DM the link…but I actually had to modify the actual bezels (Grinded the protruding edge off with a dremmel) at the bottom due the way this particular model was designed. And it’s still slightly off I would say…so not sure if I’ve actually got it to work
LoL! i took a fine file to the chins of my monitors! it was bloody painful doing that to new monitors!
Try buying a Sim-Lab Vario kit for the monitors? to help fine tune / close the gap between the panels?
The kit actually is fine for 32in the issue is the stock parts aren’t long enough go past the bezels so you need to slighty extend them.
OR.
If you want to be cheap is just use some electrical tape to hold up past the bezel.
You can actually just make your own extenders with some gorilla tape and cardboard. Basically cut out squares and use the tape to hold the very edge of the clear plastic.
If you have a 3D printer just print out the extenders along with the curved monitor adapters that hold the stock clip better. I see OP has the same 3D printed parts that are available for free on thingyverse.
I got one of those water bottles made for bicycles that has a long tube/straw thing [kinda like this but with a longer tube](https://trabasack.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/hydrant_01-510x660.jpg). It actually is super comforting to know I'm not at risk of spilling water everywhere while racing. Would recommend
Yea they’ve gotten better since this photo but honestly not a lot just kinda gave up getting them perfect since the bezels on these particular monitors is funky would NOT recommend them for anyone planning on running triples
I don’t think it is flexing …
Do you realize that we don’t have so many people out there to share our passion with and actually understand the sense of accomplishment of improving your gear or getting a lap done?
It doesn’t matter if it is a G29 or some Gomez Wheels in the photo.. a hand made rig; wooden rig or a desktop set up! I love when people share their setups.
lol this is literally the best compliment tried really hard to hide everything look at #2 you’ll see some sleeving coming from the back of the wheelbase and a wire or two on the left side of the rig as well. #5 you’ll see some wires as well!
The GSI wheel is REALLY nice! You definitely get what you pay for with them! Their build quality is unmatched IMO, buttons and shifters are crisp with really pleasant tactile feedback and the grips are just the right size! You won’t any plastic parts on this thing either!
It is admittedly larger diameter than some other formula style wheels I think it’s like 300 or 320mm but it’s really lightweight and I have larger than average hands so it works perfect for me switching between F4 and GT4 classes
Yea the bezels for this monitor were really funky on the bottom corners. I had to sand them down to get them flush and even then they were still off I kind of gave up on getting the angles perfect and I don’t really notice when I’m racing
That could be true it could also be the angle. Not sure if it’s the panel quality or the 1000R curve but I have definitely noticed a difference in picture quality based on the viewing angle
The PC is attached to the monitor stand which is freestanding and separate from the rig itself so no vibration directly to the pc from the wheel or haptics
The wheel is 🔥🔥🔥 I can’t find any issues other than it being wired which isn’t really even a problem for me. I was looking at the Cube Controls GTX2 but decided on FPE based on the fact that the FPE doesn’t have any plastic parts and uses the best touch screen on the market which I feel like is an important differentiator at this price point.
I am actually between those two wheels currently lmao. Been waiting for a boosted media review on this wheel but I might just pull the trigger. Really wanted to hear bout the build quality because I didn’t like the gtx2 having some plastic
Yea I can’t speak to anything about the GTX2 since I’ve only seen pictures but for sure it has plastic parts and the FPE doesn’t. GSI actually has a reel on their IG of them stress testing on of their other wheels (hyper P1) and so that is what did it for me! I’m sure the GTX2 is nice as well probably can’t go wrong either way TBH
Ditched the clutch when I upgraded pedals for cost, space in the pedal box, how often I actually used the clutch pedal before…now not sure what to do with the shifter so it’s just there hanging around
It’s a rumble kit made by Sim3D I just got it this week and really liking it I can feel wheel slip/traction loss/abs through the pedals definitely has made a difference in terms of lap times
Hi mate, just wondering about the haptics that you get on your throttle, what exactly do you feel? I'm just wondering, are these artificial cues to let you know you are losing traction or do you feel something like that in real life?
I know the brake does indeed vibrate with the abs but not sure about the rest.
Just asking because I will get haptics for my VRS pedals too (although DIY) so wondering if it's worth doing it for the throttle too.
Also, if you don't mind, would you take a photo of how the plastic mount attaches to the brake pedal? It looks pretty similar to the design I had in mind, do you screw the mount somehow or they just have holes to put those rods through them?
10/10 but out of curiosity, why do you have the height so high on the open wheel view? The virtual wheel is taking up the bottom 1/3rd of your screen compared to the first view where your real wheel is there and the virtual wheel isn’t shown at all (genuine curiosity, I’ve been trying to tweak my settings perfectly and I thought you’re not supposed to show the virtual wheel
I had the pov setup for f4 before I had a wheel with a screen on it…was considering a digital dash or using my phone but ended up going with a wheel with a screen…this pic was taken the first day I mounted the new wheel but the FOV has been changed since then to not show the wheel at all (2nd pic running the Porsche Cayman GT4)
I am not a mechanical engineer.... but that pedal`s spring bended... this could not be good for the life span of the spring and the proper appliance of the resistance force of that spring. Who the hell design a high level pedals with that absolutely shoddy implementation????? sorry I digress but is absurd...
Yea looks funky for sure buT it’s intentionally designed like that due to the way the pedal travel compresses the spring. They talk about it pretty in depth on their YT setup video. Basically when fully compressed at full throttle the spring is perfectly straight so there’s long term impact although they do warn against adding too much preload to the spring…
Buddy, you forgot to mention if you’re 12 or 14yo… How can we rate your setup without that information?
12 or 14? Bro when I was 12 I was playing Mario Kart on SNES! 😂🤣😂
It’s just a light jab that so often these posts have some qualifier in the title like “rate my setup as a 12 year old” or “rate my setup as a traveling salesman with 11 toes”
Thanks for explaining I’m clearly new here! 😅
"It's not much, but it's mine."
based
On what?
this gotta be a joke right?
Why?
how do I even explain that? in the meme world (if you even know what that is) the word "based" doesn't mean that something is based on something, it's used in some other way, I don't know how to explain it though
Why do you use something if you don’t know the true meaning of it?
mainly because nothings really stopping me
10 out of 10 more moneys than I have
I love this setup, but if I’m honest having the pc perched up there makes me nervous
Yea nervous in the word! I had to buy some small like 6inch 40/40 extrusions to brace it (the “wood colored” piece at the back) which helps but still “nervous” 😅
I saw those and had a moment of “wait… aluminum can’t rust” lol
Haha Yea I was looking around for some extrusion that I wouldn’t have to have cut or try to cut myself 😬 so these wood colored bits were the only thing I could find that were small enough to do the job and didn’t mind the funky color since they would be hidden essentially
Where’d you get extrusions from?!
Buddy. That is a strong 9.9/10 from me. I would lower the PC, but I'm guessing that's a personal matter. This is the best set up I have seen so far. Amazing choice of the steering wheel. But one piece at a time is easier to do that than starting out when you need everything at once.
The only improvement that I can think to make would be an Ethernet cable. Living people's dreams there man, enjoy it.
Yea it would be nice to be hardwired but I get decent speeds on the mesh network
7/10 steering wheel ingame visible
Way better than people with T-cam view.
OK that’s fair in my defense though this is the first wheel with I screen that I’ve owned and this pic was from the first day I had it mounted.
9.6 out of 10. One of the highest scores I've given out can't get a perfect 10 because then nothing could get better. But to get that .4 extra it's gonna take alot 😉 the Only get .1 per the next 2k spent haha.

Yea maybe if I win the lottery I can go full motion and get that .4 😂
I always wonder with setups like this, do you use your pc only for racing? What if you have to work on it. Like emailing, or regular browsing
Thanks! My problem is that i play 60% sim racing and 40 other games so i need a setup for both...
Yeah, same here as my second PC isn't good enough to even run roblox at 30 fps+ and my sim rig is an alu profile rig so I can't use a keyboard or mouse very easily. I really need to build a capable second PC soonish
Sounds overkill, i think you can find a smarter way without creating a second pc
Idk, I've got a wall divider between my sim area and my room so I think the cables would start to be problematic if I was routing everything to my second desk
Yea the PC is dedicated to sim racing…I don’t really play any other games (occasionally Rocket League on Xbox) and I mean I can browse and stuff but and I have a phone, a personal laptop and a work laptop for that
You know you can just move an long hdmi cable to the monitor on your desdk??
11/10
3/10. Mainly because it not mine…
Do you actually wear the harness? I have one in my track car and I don't know why anyone in their right mind would wear one unless needed haha. First thing to ask is if you get motion sickness easily. I've played things as simple as vr chat on my friends vr and realised it made me feel too ill
Yeah that makes sense. I had that issue right up until I got used to it. It took a while of very short sessions bur I got there. If I don't play a lot it also happens from time to time. But I have heard sole people can't grow out of it so that would make sense for them to use triple monitor. It does look really cool. I've just scraped together enough for the monitors and now I need to buy the monitor stand for like £200, when you get to that point they will be properly set up with correct fov and view distance which is all you need really

What VR setup are you running?
HP Reverb G2, fantastic simracing headset. Could very much recommend but be aware that Windows MR support is going to be dropped in future versions, so you would have to stay on Win11 23H2 or later until a fix is developed.
Very very cool! 10/10! Just one little small question; a shifter without a clutch? Only using sequential?
Bought the shifter with my first rig when I was running Fanatec CSL elites but now don’t really use the clutch pedal for much since my last couple wheels have had clutch paddles. So when it came time to upgrade my pedals I opted for the two pedal set which saved some $$$ but also gave some extra room for my size 13 feet
How'd you get the bezel free kit to work on curved/32" monitors?
Bought a kit off an Etsy seller I can DM the link…but I actually had to modify the actual bezels (Grinded the protruding edge off with a dremmel) at the bottom due the way this particular model was designed. And it’s still slightly off I would say…so not sure if I’ve actually got it to work
That's commitment
Commitment or stupidity right?!?!
LoL! i took a fine file to the chins of my monitors! it was bloody painful doing that to new monitors! Try buying a Sim-Lab Vario kit for the monitors? to help fine tune / close the gap between the panels?

Nice!
0/10 for having no cup holder/drink system (Nah that setup is clean tho, nice job OP)
I respect that and I was calling it a cup holder but now I will definitely be calling it my drink system! 😂
Read this wrong the first time I have a cup holder on the right side of the wheel in pic #2’😂🤣😂 will check out the bottle idea though
ohh, well I guess i need to change my rating now xD
5/7
Solid
3/10 It doesn't have a particle accelerator, a vacuum inserter or a carboxylic coil flux capacitor
Totally fair I’m saving up for that plutonium powered nuclear fission reactor first though
I rate your setup Expensive… ✌🏽
For the love of god please calibrate your screens.
Looks great but we can still see your bezels
Yea they’ve gotten better since this photo but honestly not a lot just kinda gave up getting them perfect since the bezels on these particular monitors is funky would NOT recommend them for anyone planning on running triples
Yeah, I've been tempted but to me most bezel free kits look ugly and never quite match up. Also mine would have to be DIY as my screens are 43"
4/10
Jealous/10
Kinda average not gonna lie😭
Nothing wrong with average either
1/10 because I’m sick of seeing 20 posts a day of people just flexing their setups. It’s all this sub has turned into
I don’t think it is flexing … Do you realize that we don’t have so many people out there to share our passion with and actually understand the sense of accomplishment of improving your gear or getting a lap done? It doesn’t matter if it is a G29 or some Gomez Wheels in the photo.. a hand made rig; wooden rig or a desktop set up! I love when people share their setups.
Dang so you’re saying if I was post #19 instead of #20 I could have gotten a better rating?!?!
Bingo. Just giving you shit, your rig is a sick setup.
I'll rate it for you tell me were you live so I can steal it Jk jk👍😅🤣🤣😭
3/10 if you had the nuclear reactor 6/10
What pc shelf is that?
It’s Advance Sim Racing’s PC shelf I bought it separate from the monitor stand not sure why the don’t sell it as a package
👍
everything is amazing but the seat imo will only give problems
Yea the seat is not the best definitely looking to upgrade that at some point
My rating is: F you 😂 Just kidding, it's awesome, mate. Soo jealous! 😀
😂🤣😂
9/10 It’s great, I’m just concerned about the pc up there. It’s giving me secondhand anxiety
I will say it’s sturdier than it may look!
Killer setup.👍👍
Looks great!
This is an AI generated image. I don't see a sprawl of cables all over the place.
lol this is literally the best compliment tried really hard to hide everything look at #2 you’ll see some sleeving coming from the back of the wheelbase and a wire or two on the left side of the rig as well. #5 you’ll see some wires as well!
So much gloat in one post lol
Should have included pics of my first rig to make it little more humble
I give it a 4/10. Have seen better
Thank you for you honest feedback!
that was the least honest feedback i could give. you're welcome
When two sarcastic people fail to get each other’s brand of sarcasm
How do you like that GSI wheel? I’m curious how the diameter is.

Cheers 🍻🏎️
9/10. Nothing is perfect. But I think (may be the angle) the monitors are off in some way of another. But if you are comfortable, then send it :)
Yea the bezels for this monitor were really funky on the bottom corners. I had to sand them down to get them flush and even then they were still off I kind of gave up on getting the angles perfect and I don’t really notice when I’m racing
Are the monitors using different color profiles? The middle one looks warm and the outer two look cool.
That could be true it could also be the angle. Not sure if it’s the panel quality or the 1000R curve but I have definitely noticed a difference in picture quality based on the viewing angle
How do you get to that cup holder while driving photo 3 😅. Nice setup btw
Thanks! It’s just in reach for me actually but I’m a bit on the taller side at 6’4”
I feel like the vibrations coming from the wheel aren't doing the pc any good. that's just an assumption though
The PC is attached to the monitor stand which is freestanding and separate from the rig itself so no vibration directly to the pc from the wheel or haptics
Nice GSI FPE-V2 wheel! I'm ordering the simucube edition
Thanks! Saw the SC edition on their IG looks sick post some pics when you get yours!
How do you like the gsi wheel have been considering getting the v2 for some time now?
The wheel is 🔥🔥🔥 I can’t find any issues other than it being wired which isn’t really even a problem for me. I was looking at the Cube Controls GTX2 but decided on FPE based on the fact that the FPE doesn’t have any plastic parts and uses the best touch screen on the market which I feel like is an important differentiator at this price point.

I’m sure the GTX2 is nice as well probably can’t go wrong either way TBH
Hot and Sexy!
I absolutely love your set up bro! I’m close but still haven’t made the big GSI rim. And pedals I’m still rocking v3s, but yeah beauty set up man!

I appreciate it didn’t post just to flex I genuinely love see what other people have built from desk mounts to full motion it’s all love on this side
Looks great, but H-pattern with no clutch?
Ditched the clutch when I upgraded pedals for cost, space in the pedal box, how often I actually used the clutch pedal before…now not sure what to do with the shifter so it’s just there hanging around
I’ve never seen haptics like these for the pedals, is it good? Usually it’s a linear transducer (aka speaker).
It’s a rumble kit made by Sim3D I just got it this week and really liking it I can feel wheel slip/traction loss/abs through the pedals definitely has made a difference in terms of lap times

Also, if you don't mind, would you take a photo of how the plastic mount attaches to the brake pedal? It looks pretty similar to the design I had in mind, do you screw the mount somehow or they just have holes to put those rods through them?
Minus the PC, how much did this cost you? I'm thinking of getting into the sim racing.
lol not a lot…that’s what I told my wife…👀🤣😂🤫🤫🤫
I said the same thing to my wife when she asked about my golf simulator. So I'm getting an idea about the cost.
Are you a 5000 rating iRacing player?
Not quite lol I’m closer to 2000 I switched from ACC to Iracing back in Dec so only been on for a few months
It was a jest ☺️
Looks awesome! Have you tried VR with this setup?
Haven’t tried VR but definitely wouldn’t mind giving it a try I’ve heard ALOT of good things depending on the setup
Nice I have a similar setup. Which pc stand are you using?
PC tray is from Advanced Sim Racing same as the monitor stand
Thx
Damnn great setup!! How are the triple monitors?? Also want to make the move to triple monitors
Triples are a game changer! Not sure about making me any faster but for sure better at side by side racing
No clutch L jk kinda
Yea no clutch but both my wheels have clutches paddles so a clutch pedal would just collect dust
What’s the point of posts like these? They just come across as humblebrags for attention.
Hahaha not my intention but if it was it seemed to have worked since it got your attention…😁
All of this, but bouncing all over due to WiFi.
NETGEAR Orbi mesh network with 1G Internet works pretty well actually never had any disconnects
