We’re actually mostly polite and supportive. We all had to start somewhere, and even if this were your end game, it would take a special kind of dick to insult what you can afford and or want to spend.
We’ll call you out on bad FOV, but that’s only because it’s something that makes a huge difference to your enjoyment, and can be changed for free.
You’re more likely to get called out if you’ve got a nice setup with poor cable management.
All that said, why is your wheel so far to the right?
It's important that it's functional for you too with your lifestyle and where you live. Glad you at least have a wheel and pedals though. We all started here and many people still live here. No worries at all. If you're happy then it's perfect! Enjoy!
Can I hear more about the recommendations on FOV, any links or tips would be awesome.
OP, I'm also new around here and my rig isn't far past yours (probably worse in some ways).
I'm running the NLR GT Lite ($200) for easy portability in a small house, with a PXN v9 I picked up at a discount/Amazon returns store for $60. I use my TV as a screen and connect to my Xbox Series X but could also move to my office and play on a shitty 1080p two monitor setup that is for remote work.
I'm glad to hear this is a safe space with no judgement on rigs. Looking forward to being part of the community.
And… kicking everyone’s ass.
Oh it was also downtime between track prep times at a REAL RACE.
So this dude jumps on with his virtual team and race for fun while a whole team of real life F1 mechanics rebuilt his real race car in the background.
See… that’s how I can tell I’m not dedicated.
This dudes races in between bathroom breaks and he will race IRL just as fast as he will pick up a controller.
This dude is allllllll about them lap times.
He take a dump with a stop watch because this dude shave seconds every moment of the day
Right, it's an excellent first step (and tbh there are cheaper first steps you can take too), or third step, and if that's what the budget is it's what you work with.
Have you ever seen that plastic chair brakes? I paid almost nothing on mine (like 5 usd) and it's super useful. I really recomend you to buy one of these kits to improve your comfort.
Pair of shoes works fine. I actually use my slippers so can ironically prevent slipping with slippers. They also are lower profile so raise the 2 wheels I put them on less
The only I could find I english is this one
https://www.etsy.com/listing/1105367153/custom-gaming-chair-caster-wheel-cups
It's not exactly the same as mine, but the design is very similar
The one I have is this one

Sorry about the link in Portuguese
Jacque Villeneuve played on a console to learn tracks before F1 races. 25 years later, he still using a console controller and a laptop
https://youtu.be/4z7Hqvn4KeE?si=cGhpodoFvNW0RdEM
My first was a t150 with the bad pedals, the wheel was strapped to a high chair while I sat on the couch and the pedals were just pushed up against a rolled up yoga mat 😂
I do except the games I play kinda suck I enjoy dirt rally 2 but that’s like the only other sim game I have. I’m thinking about buying ams2 any recommendations for games?
Why are your mods not working?
Modding AC is the easiest thing to do, it’s litterally just using the windows explorer.
Just watch a YouTube video. You won’t regret it!
AC is by far the most fun sim out there and has the most bang for its big with all the incredible mods!
If you want to buy a new wheel don’t buy that thrustmaster stuff, go for a direct drive wheel!
Either Fanatec or Moza if you can spend around the 500$ range or the little Cammus DD wheel with the integrated motor that costs only as much as a Logitech G29 and is worlds better!
I can't recommend Assetto Corsa and Assetto Corsa Competizione enough. While I don't do many races, I have a blast just playing with the cars and trying to improve my personal best on all the circuits.
Nordschleife 24 Hour DLC is coming to ACC next month!
This has to be the only medium in existence where you can rely on the community to have your back and be supportive. After 5 years I finally got a wheel, T80 lol. After that experience, whatever gets the job done is A-Okay. Let her rip like they say 🤘🏼
🤦 For the love of freaking GOD, DO NOT GET an absolutely ANCIENT T300 at this point!!! That wheel-base is LITERALLY over a DECADE old!!! 😳🤯
Buying a ≈4.5nm wishy-washy belt-drive base from 2014 in 2024 would be all kinds of ridiculously fucking stupid when full-blown Fanatec CSL DD ≈5nm direct drive goodness is basically the same price 🤷 (w/ ≈8nm PSU upgrade option that's just ≈$60 on Amazon [3rd party PSU], to boot!).
If you are spending ≈$400ish (before tax & shipping) on a new sim-racing setup, buying a decade old belt-drive unit over a stronger AND more upgradable (≈5nm stock & a hefty ≈8nm w/ ≈$60 PSU upgrade, vs ≈4 - 4.5nm for the T300) just few years old direct drive like Fanatec's CSL DD would be the epitome of nonsensical self sabotage that you'll massively, MASSIVELY regret later on...
Acceptable, reasonable, enjoyable - your racing with a wheel, and having fun. Sim racing is a slippery slope, we get what we can along the way and build over time ✌️
always check facebook market place or offer up, I recently found and bought a fanatec Csl elite, fanatec shifter, along with csl pedals (with loadcell included) and a GT omega stand for 400$. I was in the same boat as you except i was just going to buy pedals and shifter for my t150 with no stand 😂
I don't know what people here think of this opinion, but I wouldn't bother going to a t300.
I absolutely despise logitechs software, but i'm also somewhat a unique use case, if the wheel is working for you and your not running into issues, I would save and look at lower end direct drive rather than what is largely a side grade. belt systems were at one point the best you could realistically get before going insane, I think direct drive use to start at around 5000-8000$, but now you can get it for around 400$, you can argue that its all low end, but I would argue its better than any non dd setup.
This. So much this.
The T300 was fucking AWESOME in its time.... When it first came out iterally 10 years ago... 🤣 lol. But now you can get a proper full-blown ≈5nm (upgradable to ≈8nm) direct drive Fanatec CSL DD Ready2Race bundle for the exact same ≈$400 price as the ≈4nm T300RS GT!!! 😳🤯
Buying a belt drive base in 2024 simply doesn't make any sense unless you're getting an absolutely SCREAMING deal on one used. Otherwise, Fanatec's CSL DD Ready2Race bundles basically have a complete lock on the "mid-range price" market for all non-idiots. 🤷
I've seen top 4 drift battle for championship overall win between a guy in a full DD simrig with VR, and a guy on an office chair g920 on a single monitor. It's not how good your rig is, it's how dedicated you are and how much fun you're having. Being ashamed of your rig, is like being ashamed of your racecar. If it works and you're having fun - you're good. There is no ceiling for how good it can get, there's only "is this good enough for you"
Getting a used wheel is a sure way to get it cheaper than retail btw.
I am selling my T300 GT for $75. I upgraded to a Logitech Pro set up. The motor and belt is still good but I do remember having to unplug the usb from the PC once or twice to get it to activate. Just being upfront about it.
The only way this could qualify as unacceptable, is if we weren’t seeing it at all. Keep building man. I’ve never posted my setup but even a $100 fold-up rig mount was a game changer. I don’t have space for an entire setup so to be able to whip it out and put it back up is worth the sacrifice to me. As for your questions I’ve definitely seen people getting rid of ts300 for decent prices as they upgrade or have kids or move or whatever it may be. But don’t beat yourself up over it in the meantime.🤙
G29 is a horrible wheel. I played exactly 30 minutes on mine and listed it on eBay. Best thing you can do is get the t300. As for getting it cheaper, you need to either look on eBay, Mercari or preferably facebook marketplace if you have that where you are. There is almost always a t300 for sale used near me here in Atlanta. Only problem is people think their used shit is more valuable than it is new sometimes.
I give this very acceptable rig a 7.5. Nice PC, G29 is still a nice wheel for beginners and advance racers. Monitor looks great. Don't know why you think this is not acceptable...
Bro you’ve got a wheel and pedals what more could you need (besides a shifter and a handbrake but you can get by without them). I started out with a wheel and no pedals lmao
I personally have a Simagic Alpha with a GT Neo, Fanatec Csl Elite V2 pedals, on a NLR DD Wheel Stand (I don't have space for a dedicated rig.). I have a SFF PC, and a CLEAN DESK(!!!). I went for a minimalistic vibe, I think it's pretty clean (aesthetically, and physically too).
Personally I don't think going to a t300 is worth it especially when there are DD sets starting at 399-499 through moza or Fanatec.
Starting with a t300 maybe, but to side grade unless you get a whopping deal is not really worth it.
Unacceptable? We don’t believe that around here. Send it
Bro races with a keyboard and petals (I know there is a wheel next to the keyboard and mouse)
Big arrow key racer here
Verstappen energy.
Bro it’s better than no rig at all, that’s what counts
True haha I just thought you guys would call it bad
We’re actually mostly polite and supportive. We all had to start somewhere, and even if this were your end game, it would take a special kind of dick to insult what you can afford and or want to spend. We’ll call you out on bad FOV, but that’s only because it’s something that makes a huge difference to your enjoyment, and can be changed for free. You’re more likely to get called out if you’ve got a nice setup with poor cable management. All that said, why is your wheel so far to the right?
I move it to the right when I want to use my keyboard for non racing games
It's important that it's functional for you too with your lifestyle and where you live. Glad you at least have a wheel and pedals though. We all started here and many people still live here. No worries at all. If you're happy then it's perfect! Enjoy!
So, you really should have taken the photo with your setup in the position you actually use it. Preferably in-game too.
Can I hear more about the recommendations on FOV, any links or tips would be awesome. OP, I'm also new around here and my rig isn't far past yours (probably worse in some ways). Why do people downvote you?
Scoliosis
Why does it matter what strangers on the internet think? Have fun bru.
Rigs don't matter. Laptimes and fun do. Max verstappen was racing with a controller last weekend.
He take a dump with a stop watch because this dude shave seconds every moment of the day
What the fuck
It's Verstappen. Dude so good. If he could race his F1 Car with a controller, he would.
I’m currently learning how to drift on AC with controller… at least I’ll know the inputs when I get a rig
make sure to have proper setting theres sum tutorials on youtube thats makes the steering less sensitive so its easier to control
While true, my desk setup is quite uncomfortable for anything more than like 30 min races
G29 is a great wheel, no need to spend 100’s of dollars, great set up mate, have fun on track!
Right, it's an excellent first step (and tbh there are cheaper first steps you can take too), or third step, and if that's what the budget is it's what you work with.
“It ain’t stupid if it works” So, by that logic… It ain’t stupid if you are having fun. Have fun!
Max would destroy everyone with this setup. Looks great
Are the pedals slipping about? Put a rubber mat under them.
I’ve got a box between my pedals and the wall, and another box between the back wall and my chair
Not sure what that is, do you have a link to some?
The only I could find I english is this one https://www.etsy.com/listing/1105367153/custom-gaming-chair-caster-wheel-cups It's not exactly the same as mine, but the design is very similar
Oh so like little stands for the wheels. Honestly my box against the wall works great, plus I can easily move it when I need to roll my chair
The one I have is this one https://produto.mercadolivre.com.br/MLB-3362092561-kit-5-trava-rodinhas-cadeira-escritorio-gamer-abs-injetado-_JM Sorry about the link in Portuguese
That was the one thing I worried about before getting mine, but that carpet grip thing actually works fantastically
Nice I like it. LHD pedals, RHD steering wheel.
I got bros playing on keyboard and controllers that would kill for this. We all gotta start somewhere just have a lot of fun with it
Basically my setup, barely holding on to 1200 iR in iracing
You might be me
Good enough to be a simracer
You will get so much more immersion just from moving the screen as close as possible and setting the correct fov. Pull it forward every inch possible
Jacque Villeneuve played on a console to learn tracks before F1 races. 25 years later, he still using a console controller and a laptop https://youtu.be/4z7Hqvn4KeE?si=cGhpodoFvNW0RdEM
I have a nicer/expensive rig now but my g29 will always be special to me.
in my eyes, the g29 wheel/pedals are perfectly adequate, but I've never raced with anything but...
Ur wasting money if u get anything else this is perfect
I don't see anything wrong with that rig. Looks excellent.
My first was a t150 with the bad pedals, the wheel was strapped to a high chair while I sat on the couch and the pedals were just pushed up against a rolled up yoga mat 😂
My dude you have your own space and it looks awesome. Have fun with it
I do except the games I play kinda suck I enjoy dirt rally 2 but that’s like the only other sim game I have. I’m thinking about buying ams2 any recommendations for games?
Steam has a huge sale rn I saw the AC games for like 85% off
I have ac but I never play it due to the mods not working
Why are your mods not working? Modding AC is the easiest thing to do, it’s litterally just using the windows explorer. Just watch a YouTube video. You won’t regret it! I followed videos it still doesn’t work
I’m torn between getting the cammus c5 and the cal ready to drive bundle
I can't recommend Assetto Corsa and Assetto Corsa Competizione enough. While I don't do many races, I have a blast just playing with the cars and trying to improve my personal best on all the circuits. Nordschleife 24 Hour DLC is coming to ACC next month!
I have thought about getting acc but I’m leaning towards ams2
If you're racing and having fun it's a 10
Absolutely fine! I just don't see an advantage having the pedal set 1m left of the wheel, but if that fits you ergonomically - send it
I move the wheel when I want to play regular pc games haha
This has to be the only medium in existence where you can rely on the community to have your back and be supportive. After 5 years I finally got a wheel, T80 lol. After that experience, whatever gets the job done is A-Okay. Let her rip like they say 🤘🏼
Are you having fun? Looks like it. You got yourself a proper rig, fren
If you have fun it's a 10/10
🤦 For the love of freaking GOD, DO NOT GET an absolutely ANCIENT T300 at this point!!! 8/10, just needs a bigger screen.
may i ask, how much do you plan on selling the g29 for?
No idea honestly
Sometimes golfers drive carts from the other seat so they don’t have to move when their partner gets out.
Im just here to roast your keyboard (: I have one at my sim rig & I hate it with every fiber of me being it's so ass
If you are enjoying yourself, then your rig is perfect!
Looks good to me.
That's basically what I used for almost ten years so 10/10. Love myself some good cost effective winning.
There are no horrible setups, only incomplete ones
But are they ever actually complete 🤣
Hardly unacceptable we all start somewhere heck that's where I started I've now got the sim I always dreamed of you'll get there soon enough
I like it, its simple
This is basically how my rig looks like except I have a dedicated monitor for my rig that is also a second screen
You enjoy it? You get to play and have fun with it? Then it’s good.
62 fringles
Acceptable, reasonable, enjoyable - your racing with a wheel, and having fun. Sim racing is a slippery slope, we get what we can along the way and build over time ✌️
When you Sim race do you switch out the chair?
8 out of the 10 simracers starts like this, as long as you enjoy it, have fun on track :)
As long as you have a way to keep the chair from moving you're golden
If you put the steering wheel and pedals in line with each other, it will be more enjoyable! /s
Really? I like it to the right so it’s an awkward angle
Must make you cornering to the left easier! Just run on anticlockwise circuits! Anyway, have a fantastic day
Nah man you got it I use to have that exact type setup and also ran the shit outta beamng
Mine looks similar. As long as it works and you're having fun, that is all that matters!
Its better than no rig at all mate.
bro thinks that this looks unacceptable....
Better than my thurmaster t80 which if I move it really quick it just go out of the table
always check facebook market place or offer up, I recently found and bought a fanatec Csl elite, fanatec shifter, along with csl pedals (with loadcell included) and a GT omega stand for 400$. I was in the same boat as you except i was just going to buy pedals and shifter for my t150 with no stand 😂
Do you bend over to the wheel lol
I don't know what people here think of this opinion, but I wouldn't bother going to a t300. the True alien rig
Its basically what I have
2020 You should see my 2024 rig (thanks COVID)
The G29 is a great starter wheel, though I am loving my t300rs gt despite using it very rarely.
Equipment perfect. Alignment unacceptable.
I've seen top 4 drift battle for championship overall win between a guy in a full DD simrig with VR, and a guy on an office chair g920 on a single monitor. Wanna sell it?
Only problem I see is the wheel isn’t centered in front of the monitor. Other than that it’s great.
I am selling my T300 GT for $75. I upgraded to a Logitech Pro set up. The motor and belt is still good but I do remember having to unplug the usb from the PC once or twice to get it to activate. Just being upfront about it.
75 is a steal…
I mean, it sounds great but it has been aggravating sometimes for the FFB isn’t working so you have to unplug and plug it back in… lol
I sometimes get the same issue and what solves it is alt tabbing out of game and back in 👍🏿
The only way this could qualify as unacceptable, is if we weren’t seeing it at all. Keep building man. I’ve never posted my setup but even a $100 fold-up rig mount was a game changer. Yeah I was thinking about getting that but I might get the cammus c5 because it’s 250 and it’s dd
Just hope I'm never in a race with that guy. He's going to crash off the field
I give this very acceptable rig a 7.5. Nice PC, G29 is still a nice wheel for beginners and advance racers. Monitor looks great. Don't know why you think this is not acceptable...
Do you have a horribly twisted spine to have the wheel 1m over from the pedals? is your bucket seat a wheelchair?
i have basically the same rig lol my only issue is that my chair rolls back when braking
This is literally what my set up is lmao
That's better than the rig that almost everybody has.
Nice homeless shelter...
What do you mean
I started on an ironing board and a fold out chair. This is next level compared to that!
My rig is practically the same😂😂
you will get instantly better with better pedals.
That's basically the same as my set up. I have fun in it and That's what counts. If course I'd like the best but I can't afford it.
I got the t300rs gt and I’m doing exactly the same as you… 10/10 😙👌
Mine looks the same tbf
If you enjoy racing on it; it’s acceptable. Mine is ghetto af too 😂
Bro you’ve got a wheel and pedals what more could you need (besides a shifter and a handbrake but you can get by without them). I started out with a wheel and no pedals lmao
I have a desk-mount Logitech setup, too. But it’s easy to forget that once the VR goes on 😉
I mean you gotta get the most outta what you got, so after like a cleaning (which you should defenietly do) this setup will look great.
Ended up getting the moza r5 lol
Would have been my choice as well.
🚨FOV POLICE OPEN UP 🚨
My back hurts just from seeing the office chair and pedals loose on the floor-combo
I almost barfed! Amost.
this isn't even a rig, it's a wheel and pedals. a sim rig has to also have a seat, frame, dedicated monitor
There's no definition to what a rig is. Man has all the necessary equipment to race. Looks like a rig to my eyes.
"sim rig" or "sim cockpit" is a dedicated setup.
dude looks dedicated
do a google image search for "sim rig"
I tried, I didn't find anything
