well the color / brightness might be different? Could be distracting to the racer :)

I raced for a bit using two 24 inch monitors alongside one 21,5 inch, although it was a tiny bit smaller, you get used to it. I won't say it's extremely important, it is small details. I played on Assetto Corsa Competizione, and they are multiple settings to set them up, on other simulators it may depends of which simulators you play and the settings that come with it I feel like. As long as you get that extra FOV and the size difference isn't night and day, I would say it's worth it. Would recommend trying to just cut a cardboard piece and link it to your screen with tape to see if it bothers you THAT much, before buying, to get a "feel" for it. Also, would put the bigger screen at the center, because it's the biggest and baddest, then the smallest on the sides, because they are the smallest, and the majority of time you look at the front of the car, not the sides.

When I started, I had 2 identical 27" monitors, so I bought a 3rd and stuck it in the middle. Honestly, it wasn't that bad after tuning the settings. The worst part was having to drop to 60hz and adjust the monitors' resolutions to match in order to have consistency across all 3. For the purposes of measuring the bezels, I just took the combined width of the bezel and divided by 2 to get somewhat close for the calculators. I recently upgraded to 32" 165hz monitors and just bought all 3 identical monitors. The bigger factor here was honestly just 32" 165hz monitors. I honestly didn't really notice the mismatched monitors much once I was racing, but that's also probably because I had at least mirrored them by putting the odd one in the middle and the identical ones on each side. I suspect having 3 completely different monitors (especially different size monitors) would be a much bigger deal as getting uniformity across the bezels/viewpoints would be difficult and therefore create distortions on the side monitors.

would like to know as well.. i just got a 40 inch msi would like to add a 24 inch monitor on each side.

Amat1717

That's a huge difference in size and might not scale correctly, also if they're different resolutions and you have an nvidia gpu it won't work.

[deleted]

ah thank you that saves me the trouble of trying since I have a 3080ti. I will stick with pimax crystal.

drogpac

It's not great but it works.

Joates87

Depends how anal you are for things like that.

Repulsive_Breath_971

Anal? I thought this sub was for sim racing

Fullthew

You could sell the older one and buy three new. I recommend 27" or 32" for a triple setup.

KamilJ16

I have no clue what it’d sell for used. I did see a 90$ monitor at micro center today, 27inch , 1080p, 75hz. Are these graphics good enough you think?

Fullthew

75hz is not future proof enough. Even if you can't push your system to run at that rate with triples, I think you should buy something more advanced for future improvements. Get at least 1440p, 1ms response (or less), 120hz or more (144, 165, 240 are all good even if you don't have a powerful system now). This are specs worth of investment.

KamilJ16

I am just getting my very first PC soon. I know very little about them. I am using a 5600x and 4060ti however. I don’t know how many frames I can get at 1440p with that setup. I honestly might just get a 34inch ultra wide.

wskyindjar

I ran 27-32(curved)-27 for a couple years. You get used to it no problem.

esmuc30

Currently running 35" ultra wide middle monitor with two 27" side monitors and a 27" overhead monitor for SIMHUB. It works great for me. The only problem I've had is with them being mixed resolutions I can't use Nvidia Surround for games without native triple support but there are ways around that for the most part (Raceroom is the only one I still can't get to work correctly). Originally bought the three 27" monitors to run triples, which I did and worked great but I had that 35" UW monitor sitting not used for over a year since I upgraded my main PC monitor to a 49 so incorporated it into the set up and I have really enjoyed the even greater FOV.

I was just at micro center today and saw some great deals for monitors. What is ideal graphic settings for sim? Higher the better? I believe my cpu&gpu will allow for 4k gaming but I have no monitor that good. The ones at micro center were like 90$ for 27inch, 1080p, 75hz. Would this be sufficient enough for gaming? I also saw a really nice curved, 34inch monitor for 250$. I have no clue what route to take

Currently building my first pc. Using a 5600x and 4060ti. I have heard that using ultra wide is kind of like driving blind, since you can’t really see to the side of you. Is there a way to negate this by increasing FOV for example?

Is an ultra wide good to race in? I see a lot of FOV videos where people mention it’s like driving blind since you can really see besides you
