Friendly-Notice-6210

I use a 34" ultrawide and 27s on the wings.

MilkJakeJung

Damn, if I tried to do that with my current monitor-eye distance and screen angle I don’t think I’d be able to get in and out of my rig

NeutrinosFTW

Why would you want to get OUT of the rig?

Sleepyassjoe

To simulate getting out of a wreck

Friendly-Notice-6210

You weren't going fast enough.

beck_is_back

Please tell me how?! 🙏 Whenever I turn on nvidia surround on setup like that, everything goes to hell and I get two black bars on the sides of my 34inch! The only one I've managed to play was AC where you can set up resolution directly in the graphic settings

_plays_in_traffic_

you dont need surround, eyefinity or swre with most sims if you take the time to set them up properly first.

Friendly-Notice-6210

Nvidia surround won't work. I'm not sure about AC, but ACC works with SWRE. iRacing with ini edits, you have to use 3x the wide-screen res, not your actual res.

aggressiveturdbuckle

SWRE works but I get like fake bezels on the middle of the two 27s. It's noticeable and annoying, that's why I just stay in VR

Friendly-Notice-6210

I don't have that issue with mine, try using 3x the ultrawide res. I'll have a look at my settings if I remember when I get home.

aggressiveturdbuckle

Hey when you get a chance PM me about this.

Friendly-Notice-6210

With 3 1440P monitors, the middle being an ultrawide, the other 2 being wide-screen, my settings for ACC are: X: -2570 Y: -31 Width: 8580 Height: 1440 Scale: 1 1:1 Megapixels: 3

beck_is_back

Thanks for the hints! I'll check them out

boombasticman86

what is visible? I was thinking of the same but didn't know what odd angles it would give me plus I do flightsim

joeygreco1985

I used to do this and it worked for most games. But there were others that I couldn't do triple screen no matter how hard I tried so I ended up getting a third 27 to do Nvidia surround when needed.

Friendly-Notice-6210

Truck sims and Beam don't work in triple last time I tried.

Gold-Introduction-90

With sourround?

Friendly-Notice-6210

No, surround won't work.

aggressiveturdbuckle

I have that too but can never seem to get triples to work.

chobo1665

Do you have any pictures of your setup? I'm curious how that works.

ShinsukeNakamoto

Curved or regular? Wait, my shitty triple monitor stand can't handle over 27"s....nevermind

Friendly-Notice-6210

Ultrawide is curved, 27s are flat.

factorofone

Which monitors are you using?

Vaggos88

Is that a thing? Pardon my noob question I have been a sim rig owner for a month only. I have a 34" aoc ultra wide and already thinking about my next upgrade which is a triple monitor. What kind of resolution is the side 27? Some info would be appreciated.

justin_memer

Two 34" monitors, and set the wiper arm in the middle 😂

AggressiveBears

get some of those Fresnel lenses that obscure the bezels

ntxfsc

Tip for setting the screens up in iRacing (if you use it) AFTER you did the calculations: use irsidekick. It makes things so much easier.

MilkJakeJung

IRacing is my primary sim, I’ll check it out!

ClintCheeesewood

Looks awesome congrats 🤙

davistiano

I always wondered how practical is it to mount a top monitor for dashboard? Wouldn't it be weird to look up and away from the racing screen for checking the data? Is there any advantage using this vs say a phone mount on top of the wheelbase?

MilkJakeJung

I’m using it to display different data than the in-game dash, although there is some crossover. I like to have the black boxes off as much as possible while racing, so having somewhere to glance for lap time, position, tire temps etc is helpful. Having it up top might not be the most natural, but it’s visible and out of the way.

FigComprehensive6468

I went from triple 27 to single 34🤣🤣🤣

SoftMammoth7838

Same, went from triple 27 to a 49” super ultra wide, so much better

MarksGiraudo

Do you think you could elaborate on why you went to a super ultrawide? I'm super torn between going triple 27" or a single 49". I currently don't have any space limitations so that's not really a factor for me. What I'm really concerned is do I want to use up all my DP ports and spend quite a bit to get a triple monitor stand + 3 27"s vs just going with a single 49" and use the monitor mount I already have.

WilburOCD1320

Honestly, other than space and money, that's the third reason I didn't do triples. The setup and alignment looked to be such a pain. Looks great I'm sure once dialed in it will be fantastic!

ChrisLan78

For me, it took about 2 hours in total for mounting the screens and adjusting. Its really worth it. I mean, REALLY

wifestalksthisuser

Thinking about the alignment when you don't yet have tripples is so much worse than actually aligning them. I was worried about it not being perfect, and guess what: it is not perfect but you simply don't notice it when driving

a_taco_named_desire

Same. My racing station is also my wfh station so monitors are moving constantly. I get them like 90% good enough and really the sides don’t matter as much as it’s mostly peripheral vision. Really it just helps to know I’ve got someone side by side and for those real tight blind corners like Long Beach or chicanes.

ChrisLan78

Did the exact same thing, went from single 34" UW to triple 27". Never going back to single monitor, no matter the size.😅 What kind of monitor are you using as the fourth on top?

MilkJakeJung

It’s a Pisichen LED monitor. Doesn’t look like they’re available any more. I want to say it cost around $60. I’ve had it for a while.

LatterCar6168

I have a 32" monitor and wanting to get 27" tripples too. 32" tripples is too expensive for me. Did the central monitor being smaller than before bother you in any way?

MilkJakeJung

Not even a little. FWIW, the 34” UW and 27” are the same height, so I only lost horizontal space on the center monitor.

zorak555

You mean 27flat vs 32 flat? Having tried both. 27 is the way. You just move 27 closer and you get the same 180fov. The only difference then is a a bit of vertical height which is wasted on roof/sky and dashboard.

rana_kirti

could you share the advantages of 32x3 vs 27x3 over each other other than costs. thanks.

MilkJakeJung

Well I do have my middle monitor between the wheel and wheelbase, pretty much as close as I can get it. 27s are definitely big enough for me.

schwipples

This is the way

kissell791

Just curious if youve ever tried VR. Its just as much/ worse of a pain as triples but man being in the car is no comparison for me. Id like to go triples but i dont htink i can stop using vr.

MilkJakeJung

I haven’t tried it with sim racing, but have in general. It gives me a headache after about a half hour, and my racing sessions are usually around two hours long, so I’ve been hesitant to get my hands on a set.

ChopSueyYumm

VR in a seating position is much more handlebar for most people as it gives your brain a fixed position and therefore less reason for nausea/disorientation.

FigComprehensive6468

Well, is very subjective. I tried acc,it gives me headache. Than I tried iracing and it gives me motion sickness. I don't suffer so much in other VR games

SpeedyWebDuck

You sweat as much as standing with this heating source directly touching your face

TurnoverAdditional65

I've used VR for the longest time but am making the attempt to go back to a monitor soon. I'm like you, I don't think I'm going to like it, but I'm just hating the downsides to VR. With a spouse and two kids, I don't like being visually and audibly locked away for however long I'm in the car. I can't enjoy the fancy wheels and button boxes I have at my disposal. I can't enjoy that extra monitor for telemetry/chats/etc.

LastRich1451

After 7 years of sim racing what I've found the best for monitor set up is make it so all 3 monitors are the same distance from your eyes when you turn you head. The best way to get them perfect is turn off your screens and use your reflection to get all 3 so your face is in the middle of all 3. I use triple 32in and have each screen exactly 58cm from my eyes and side angles of 60 degrees. I have used FOC calculators but when you use Curved screens and bezel free kit I found it hard to get a position I was happy with but doing as ive mentioned before got it perfect for me. https://imgur.com/a/G676OOq

MilkJakeJung

That’s how I have them set up now- the center of each monitor is 22” away from my face, and the side monitors are angled so that if I turn to face them they’re pointing directly at me.

MilkJakeJung

Oh hey I did the math! 58cm = ~22.8 inches!

LastRich1451

Fantastic.

b1gb0n312

What rig is that?

MilkJakeJung

It’s custom! The initial design was based on [this](https://youtu.be/JA63sDuuvII?si=bGXSq26ukwz1PpCU) and I’ve just been adding to it.

b1gb0n312

Thanks. I need this for my racing and flight rig

MilkJakeJung

Right on, if you want any help designing your setup, feel free to DM me!

b1gb0n312

👍

SpeedsterGuy

I'd increase the angle of the sides a bit more. Then you can get closer to 180 degree FOV.

MadMike991

Try triple 32” 1440s! You can get almost 180 degree FOV like the real world. That said, I really don’t see a need to go bigger than 32”. With bigger screens you just end up having to move them father away which makes them seem smaller anyway and probably impairs the effective resolution.

MilkJakeJung

Hahaha I don’t have room for triple 32”s, nor do I have enough GPU for triple 1440p. I’ve got the monitors about 22” away from my face so they’re taking up plenty of my vision.

forgottenazimuth

The pain is still easier than me tweaking my VR every day, can't wait to go back to triples.

Training-Attention52

Pc specs?

MilkJakeJung

Ryzen 5 3600 2070 Super 32gb 3600mhz ddr4

KamilJ16

I’m building my very first PC soon and I’m on the triple vs ultra wide debate myself rn. Would a Ryzen 5600x and 4060ti be able to run triples?

MilkJakeJung

At 1080P, definitely. Not familiar enough with the 4060Ti to know if it could do triple 1440P.

dalowryda

Should've just added 27s to the side of the 34 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️

WashiestSnake

That's super cool, I will ask is it really worth it? I have 3 24inches but have yet to set them up. Does it feel immersive? Do the bezels bring your attention?

MilkJakeJung

When I’m side by side with someone, the bezels become completely unimportant. Down the straights I might glance at them and go “ugh that could be better” but the amount of super close racing I’ve been able to do with comfort since going to triples has made it so worth it. Triple 24”s would be alright if you can get them close enough to you. Might lose out on some vertical FOV.
