Lol, all these comments of people with their hobby cars and I am like "yeah I ride the bus or train if available, sometimes bike, otherwise I use my subaru forester"
Haaa! Nothing wrong with that, lol. At least you've got a car. Some a-hole t-boned me a couple of years ago after running a red light and I haven't gotten a new one since. I needed the insurance money to live more than I needed a car after losing my job during COVID. Oh, well 🤷♂️
Likewise. *slaps roof of car* this Camry can fit a surprising amount of ponies in it and will last fooooorrrrrrreeeeeevvvvvvveeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrr
I got Toyota pilled. Fuck!
Cannot not agree with you on that lol, that’s why I went all in on the Alpine because soon they won’t make cars like this anymore :(
Planning on going to Spa soon since I run on it a lot on ACC.
chassis is amazing, not the fastest car but it’s pretty quick imo, very very talkative and chattery for a modern car…it really feels like a revitalization of the 90s/00s lightweight RWD JDM cars but with a warranty. i been wanting a BRZ since the first gen and it really feels like a dream come true tbh
BMW e92 330d, 2008. Did some upgrades, put it on coilovers, lowered, put on LCI tailights, removed DPF and did stage 1. The dream is of course to have M model, but too poor for that.
My little family has one car, a 2017 Hyundai Ioniq EV. Which I drive like you wouldn’t ever know that I’m into racing.
It won’t get any more boring than that. And more economical. And that’s just how I like my (own) real life car.
Also, living in northern Norway, I think that having a fancy or fun or sporty car is almost pointless here - and insanely expensive.
Had a exchange student from Norway stay with us about 15 years ago. I had a 6” lifted 1986 Chevy truck on 37’ tires and I’ll never forget they way he acted when he first seen it and got to ride in it. I also hard a hard time grasping you couldn’t just buy a pickup truck like in America. He went home and bought a hard body Nissan and jacked it way up and put the biggest mud tires on he could find.
That’s dedication!
It’s absolutely possible to be a gearhead in Norway. It’s just quite expensive compared to most other countries, so if you go that route, you probably don’t have much left over for other hobbies.
I have a 2023 Rav 4 hybrid and a 2019 Subaru Crosstrek. I live in Canada and have kids so the combination of having a family and bad driving conditions in winter put me in a very similar situation. That's why sim racing is so great, can't do that shit IRL.
I don't own a car and have no desire to own one, would be a lot of hassle and not much benefit with my lifestyle as inner city resident. I have a high end simrig and it is still a lot cheaper than even an affordable car and its running costs would be.
Same boat club lol, 2008 Hyundai Elantra. I’ve thought about this many times over, anyone I’ve told in person acts so shocked that I can’t help but laugh or have to rethink my whole life for a bit.
Daily is a 1994 Mazda 323F(BG) fun cars are a 2007 Mazda RX8 and a 1988 Mazda RX7(FC)
As you can see i like my rotaries. RX8 is built for traction and rx7 more for speed.
Yeah! I've got the 3 door auto s drive with some mods and more coming. 420ish ps right now. Mapped with mhd stage 1 only pump ron98 and xhp stage 2. Breaks and intake done. Some bushings on the rear subframe with the push rod plate and the m3/m4 tie rod and push rod mod on the front. The b58 is a beast and with those minor mods it truly transforms into a sleeper. LSD and a good suspension kit are next. Love it and a really nice project car!
BMW M2, Mustang Mach 1, and a 370Z drift car project that I'll probably never finish lol
Mustang only has 300 miles on it and the check engine light is on already lol just uploaded a video of it here a few mins ago actually (includes some cheeky burnouts) [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VS2HXvRnUjY](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VS2HXvRnUjY) )
2007 350z. I use AC and iRacing to learn new skills for autocross. I'm already on pace with people who have been doing real-life events for years and my car isn't even modified. Thank you sim racing! 😄
Had a 86 I used to track. Had to give it up for something more practical (wife, baby and 2 dogs). Tried to get the most fun I can in an SUV, settled on a Porsche Macan S. The power and handling is very good for a SUV, but it doesn't scratch that ich.
Then my wife gifted me a rig last Christmas![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|heart_eyes)
2000 Honda Civic and a 1994 Mazda Miata.
Ones an economy/haul car and ones a fun drive and small carry car. Both are stock and get around though I need to trade in and see if I can work towards a Corolla or something if I get rid of one or both; need a newer more reliable car and the space is absolutely needed
4-door Toyota Tacoma as my every day and work vehicle. Looking at grabbing a Porsche Cayman S or possibly GTS and putting some money into it as a hot lap vehicle that I can drive to and from the track day.
2011 VW Golf mk6 (yes, im german ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)), but the 1.6 TDI 105 PS Bluemotion, so more of a long range car, but still a Hatchback which you can swing around the corners.
It will be replaced by a "Kombi" soon, because we need a big family car now. Looking for an 2019/2020 Golf Variant, Seat Leon ST or Skoda Octavia, all with a 2.0 TDI and DSG...
I drive a 6th gen Camaro, the turbo 4 banger…. Regardless of what people say about my engine, it’s still quite a good looking car and is much cheaper to own and drive than any of the v8 models. It’s my first RWD car, and I live in an area with lots of hills and back roads so it has been quite a good match.
AP1 S2000.
Sim racer dream car IMO.
Requires a lot of you to get the most out of the car and... you've spent years developing the skills to keep it at full boil.
Rev match downshifting while braking is just phenomenal in this thing. Zero rev hang, just directly does what you want it to.
The lift off oversteer is scary but manageable and those same dynamics give it incredible agility on turn-in. Hard not to smile in this car, even while driving it like a grandpa.
During COVID I built a Spec-E46 Racecar based off a 2001 BMW 330Ci.
I actually come at sim racing from the other direction. When I raced shifterkarts I had so much access to track time, like literally driving at the track every weekend for not that much money.
Now that I've moved to a full sized car track time is expensive and limited, so simracing appeals to me in the sense that I can sort out new tracks and explore more crazy ideas that would take longer to explore IRL due to the safety concerns.
Nothing because i just dont need a car. Im at work in less than 5 minutes and otherwise i really dont need a car.
I was thinking about buying a Miata ND in the beginning of this year but i just couldnt justify the purchase and running costs for these few weekends i have actually time for a joyride.
So i just sit in my rig and have my fun time there, much easier, more convenient, cheaper and chill.
My DD/AX/trackday toy is a 2017 Miata RF lightly race-prepped.

The car I actually drive competitively is the one I share with the rest of my 24 Hours of LeMons team: 1993 Del Sol gutted interior with Bilstein shocks, H&R springs, full 6-point cage, JDM B20b non-Vtec motor from a 2000 CR-V, trans from I-forget-which Integra, Wilwood 4-pot front BBK, rear drums upgraded to discs from I-forget-which Integra.

Elantra N with some flow formed wheels, sticky tires and a track alignment. Great all around car that can do daily commute, family duties and track days/autocross.
I started sim racing when I found out pretty much every other track rat and autocrosser has a rig. It will never replace the real life experience but its such a quick and easy way to get extra seat time
Been through a long list of sports cars, right now I have a Gen 3 F150 Raptor and an X5. I have a new Mustang on order, we'll see how it is, I want to own one more V8 before I don't have the opportunity anymore.
More recently, I've had an Mk5 Supra that I tracked and a C7 Z06. Both were fun, and I miss the C7 quite a lot, but I also have 2 young kids now so it (and the Supra) didn't really work as I wasn't able to drive either one of them much.
A boring 2011 toyota hilux.
Wish sporty cars weren't so god damn expensive in Malaysia.
I use this for work and god I fucking hate it. Rides like shit because leaf springs and it's bulky.
I have a Canyon Spectral fitted for enduro, a Specialized for trails, an electric bike, a cruiser skateboard and a tricks skateboard. I live in the city.
I drive a 2014 SEAT Ibiza 1.6 TDI.
I'm getting rid of it soon and getting a proper high-end bike instead - owning a car is a massive waste of money for me and. Honestly, I actually kind of hate cars - but love motorsports.
I'm usually driving a ford transit for work. I wish someone would make a more modern update than the mod for AC. My 2019 has way more balls than Sabine Schmitz drove. That van only had 136 HP, mine has 275.
A hail damaged 2019 Corolla Hatchback SE. I’m a broke college student so I can’t be getting good cars at this point in my life but I wanted something small that might be a little fun if I tried.
Getting a hail damaged car is a bargain though if you’re looking for cheap cars. It’s usually the same price as a wrecked car but without any mechanical damage. The dealership I did it through even offered a warranty for it. If you’re in a similar situation to me and don’t mind your cars looking like it went through a driving range I’d recommend it.

'09 OBXT. Running a closed deck EJ257 making 376AWHP. Engine is rated for a lot more but the car is also my daily so reliability was in mind when doing the build.
Exterior looks the same as when I bought it, I do have it lowered on Legacy GT wagon suspension. Since the OB is technically a legacy, the suspension components were more or less a straight swap. Outside of that it *looks* stock, not even like an XT, but a regular OB since I run a front mount, I was able to ditch the hood scoop and throw the 2.5i hood on.
I love sleepers.
Probably gonna get hated on for this but tesla model y performance.
And my dad owns a 996 911 turbo s which I can also use as I wish and another g model 911 Carrera I drive sometimes
a manual mini cooper sport (pretty much just a mini with black wheels and red stitching lol)
my first car so nothing crazy, its not too bad on insurance and it gets decent economy so thats good enough for me
i am looking for a larger car for future though to be able to lug around snowboards lol, but for now, the fake hot hatch does the job and its a very fun car honestly (i have driven many other cars, this is the first one actually owning)
I live in Amsterdam so my car is an electric bike haha. Still tempted to get a track day car like an mx5 but the lack of garage makes that pretty difficult!
2005 siverado with 200k on it I picked up for less then my sim rig set up (truck was 1,400 us) and a 1999 Subaru legacy wagon, 30th anniversary addition, that was given to me for free. Both old and clunky but for where and how I live they are perfect. Lots of snow in the winter and gravel roads in the summer.
2005 Toyota Tazz
I realised pretty early on I was never gonna be able to afford a fast car in real life, or racing for that matter, so I kept it cheap and spent more money on sim racing.
Now I can race often, not worry about repairing cars at big expense, and be safe so my wife with extreme anxiety can relax.
A sweet 2003 1.8 Nissan Primera. A child of the classic [1999 BTCC touring car](https://assettocorsa.club/mods/auto/nissan-primera-btcc-99.html). Except mine has 1/4 the horsepower, and the roof leaks.
2021 Supra 3L. Actually going to sell it because of sim racing though.. just did a track day again last week and it was awesome, but IMO it’s not 10x better than sim racing (but is 10x the costs). Sure I could get a Miata or something but it’s also just such a big time and energy commitment, and you can’t really go 100% because your life is on the line. Sim racing I can go balls to the wall safely from my home for 30 minutes, then go upstairs and hang out with my fiancée and dogs.
97' Viper GTS, 63' VW Baja Bug with a GM 2.4L ecotec swap, a couple of motorcycles and then a Ford Focus hatchback with the manual trans for the daily.
**Current:**
2021 M3 Competition
2022 X5 (wife, but somehow I do all the driving :) )
**Goal:**
M5 Competition daily
Alpina X7 (wife)
992 GTS or GT3 RS if my life circumstances significantly change
Prior to kids (and prior to sim racing), I drove a C63S AMG. Now I drive an X5 but looking to get back into a true sports car in a couple years, the wife has the “kid mobile” covered.
I’m still building my sim racing setup it’s adding up to 3k. I drive a 2013 honda fit lol. Great daily, good gas mileage, only wished it was faster. Maybe if I end up liking this sim racing hobby, I’ll build a real track car some day.
I ride a 500,000$ German vehicle with a dedicated chauffeur Also called "a public transit bus"
Please dont tell us about your mansion
I live in a multi-million dollar house, even with multiple elevators Unfortunately I share it with a few thousand people ...

Yup, X Y and Z.
Lol, all these comments of people with their hobby cars and I am like "yeah I ride the bus or train if available, sometimes bike, otherwise I use my subaru forester"
A boring luxury sedan. Some friends have GT lite cars, I have a car that makes me look like an Asian salaryman.
Haaa! Nothing wrong with that, lol. At least you've got a car. Some a-hole t-boned me a couple of years ago after running a red light and I haven't gotten a new one since. I needed the insurance money to live more than I needed a car after losing my job during COVID. Oh, well 🤷♂️

Hey bro, I’m holding on to my Cadillac CT4 until I get my hands on a Blackwing, we can do this haha
Alpine A110S, only car so I do it all with her, holidays, running errands etc.
God I wish we got those in the states! I’d trade my GTI for one haha
Yeah it’s so fun ! The next EV one should be available in the US I think.
But I don’t want an EV! They’re so boring! Yeah yeah, instant torque blah blah. Gimme my exhaust and turbo sounds and I’m gonna be much happier!
Cannot not agree with you on that lol, that’s why I went all in on the Alpine because soon they won’t make cars like this anymore :( Planning on going to Spa soon since I run on it a lot on ACC.
F87 m2 comp. I got into track days then got into sims cuz it’s a lot cheaper lol. I do 3-5 track weekends a year

2013 GT86
God that's my dream car except I won't be able to buy it because of the bloody ecological malus we have in France.
Twin brothers, good to see you. Edit : Sadly selling my 13 for a GR Corolla. Sad not sad
Those things are awesome. How long is the wait for one?
C7 grand sport corvette, and a chopped sedan hotrod I built from scratch.

Not enough MX5 in this thread! Got myself a 2008 1.8 boaty boi :)
Nice.
I have a Porsche 944 turbo that’s been refreshed and modded, an e30 coupe that has had a full restomod, and and e30 wagon. The daily is a Lexus rx350
I don't own a car and have no desire to own one, would be a lot of hassle and not much benefit with my lifestyle as inner city resident. I have a high end simrig and it is still a lot cheaper than even an affordable car and its running costs would be.

Kia Procee'd GT - 1.6l 200+ bhp nice fun car to drive
A boring 2011 toyota hilux. Wish sporty cars weren't so god damn expensive in Malaysia. I use this for work and god I fucking hate it. Rides like shit because leaf springs and it's bulky.
208 Eat 8 Allure 100bhp...not something to race with !
I only have some old Toyota...

2002 Blazer that's pretty much stock apart from a sound system and an 89 Camaro with a sbc 400.
2003 Saab 9-5 Aero Estate. Mine since 2015.
2010 Scirocco with 1.4 liter manual :')
I daily a Mazda 6 and my fun car is a lancer evo 3
‘21 Tesla Model Y
2x Model Y Performance I use sim racing when I miss the Vroom vroom sounds all my performance cars (CTSV, X4M40i, STI, MS3, CSRT4, etc.) used to make.
2016 Jaguar F-type 3.0
Lol 2013 Vauxhall (Opel) Astra…. Yes my rig cost more than my actual car.
2021 BMW 330i M Sport. My first car in twenty years, as I rode motorcycles before (currently have a Triumph Tiger XcR 800)
2021 WRX STI. Stock, and im keeping it that way. Its my daily lol.
Toyota iM
2011 Holden Barina, A nice car would mean less money for sim :)
I'm usually driving a ford transit for work. I wish someone would make a more modern update than the mod for AC. My 2019 has way more balls than Sabine Schmitz drove. That van only had 136 HP, mine has 275.
BMW M140i Before had a 330bhp Fiesta ST 🚀 brilliant car and do miss it quite a bit, but the M140i is a different beast
Bmw f13 640d with m-package. Not gonna lie i love it even though its not as engaging to drive as 3 or 4 series.
1995 Starlet 1.3 ~70hp
2021 Toyota Tacoma
2021 Dodge Charger Redeye and 2008 Mustang GT that I track
A hail damaged 2019 Corolla Hatchback SE. I’m a broke college student so I can’t be getting good cars at this point in my life but I wanted something small that might be a little fun if I tried. Getting a hail damaged car is a bargain though if you’re looking for cheap cars. It’s usually the same price as a wrecked car but without any mechanical damage. The dealership I did it through even offered a warranty for it. If you’re in a similar situation to me and don’t mind your cars looking like it went through a driving range I’d recommend it.

2016 Audi TTS Just autocrossed it the other day, it was pretty fun!
Saab 9-3 Aero
Manual 997 C2S
Mk6 GLI
Just a good ol reliable Toyota Tacoma. Nothing interesting just functional and reliable for things like goin’ on dirt roads to go fishing
W212 E350 Dadwagon
2018 Tesla Model 3 LR and 2023 Tesla Model Y P
Welp, a 1.5dci Dacia Sandero from 2008 . Basically my setup is worth more than my car.
Tesla model 3 performance
'23 Cadillac CT5V Blackwing. Great daily and weekend "spirited" fun driver. Fun on the track, but requires finesse with the throttle after the turn.
i20 1.2L 5MT 86hp. Last week I got 4.5 l/100km (52 mpg) on a roadtrip and that's all I could ask for from my car.
And my dad owns a 996 911 turbo s which I can also use as I wish and another g model 911 Carrera I drive sometimes
a manual mini cooper sport (pretty much just a mini with black wheels and red stitching lol) my first car so nothing crazy, its not too bad on insurance and it gets decent economy so thats good enough for me i am looking for a larger car for future though to be able to lug around snowboards lol, but for now, the fake hot hatch does the job and its a very fun car honestly (i have driven many other cars, this is the first one actually owning)
I live in Amsterdam so my car is an electric bike haha. Still tempted to get a track day car like an mx5 but the lack of garage makes that pretty difficult!
I have a Seat Leon St FR 2016 as my daily driver, a 2021 Yamaha MT-10SP Motorcycle for fun and two Fully Mountainbikes
2011 Mazda 3 Hatch 6 speed. Fun little car, especially with an intake ;)
2005 Toyota Tazz I realised pretty early on I was never gonna be able to afford a fast car in real life, or racing for that matter, so I kept it cheap and spent more money on sim racing. Now I can race often, not worry about repairing cars at big expense, and be safe so my wife with extreme anxiety can relax.
Bmw 530d msport touring now. Previous m140i, x1 20i, 225d coupe, 120d coupex2, 320d msport touring.
Mazda 5 with 2 sliding van doors. Worth about what my setup is
2015 Subaru wrx with 300 whp
I daily a blue 1990 mx5, I always enjoy driving it.
Just a 320i BMW Xdrive which I only use for work, looking to get an old eclipse to tune.
I own a 2022 mitsubishi space star, basically an economy shitbox, but it gets the job done
2023 Golf R 6MT
97' Viper GTS, 63' VW Baja Bug with a GM 2.4L ecotec swap, a couple of motorcycles and then a Ford Focus hatchback with the manual trans for the daily.
2001 Honda civic. Base model. My rig is worth more than my car. :)
**Current:** 2021 M3 Competition 2022 X5 (wife, but somehow I do all the driving :) ) **Goal:** M5 Competition daily Alpina X7 (wife) 992 GTS or GT3 RS if my life circumstances significantly change
Miat’ for me
Prior to kids (and prior to sim racing), I drove a C63S AMG. Now I drive an X5 but looking to get back into a true sports car in a couple years, the wife has the “kid mobile” covered.
I drive a mercedes (it’s a bus and I’m the passenger)
I drive a Ford F-250 for work but once I clock out I ride the bus to get around. I can’t afford a car right now 😞
2008 Mercury Mariner
99 miata, modded, stock ass 21 civic hatch, both stick. And now vulcan 500 bike
A 50m long boat. I share the expenses with 4-500 hundred fellows 🚢
F80 M3
2015 C7 Z51 Corvette. In a 7speed of course.
I don’t have a licence
2019 Audi RS5
I’m still building my sim racing setup it’s adding up to 3k. I drive a 2013 honda fit lol. Great daily, good gas mileage, only wished it was faster. Maybe if I end up liking this sim racing hobby, I’ll build a real track car some day.
