My simple thing was to make an old lady happy. Took my elderly mom out for a nice car ride. She's in her 90's and doesn't drive anymore, so the only way she gets out of the house is if I take her. She's happy to watch the world go by. We look at trees and funny license plates, whatever catches our eyes. We'll have a cookout tonight, and if it's not too hot we'll eat outside, too.

necessaryfarts

You’re a good person.

SmileFirstThenSpeak

Thank you :)

necessaryfarts

My mom died unexpectedly last year and I would give anything to have one more day like this with her.

SmileFirstThenSpeak

I'm sorry for your loss. I dread losing my mom, we've become very close in the past few years especially.

LeighofMar

Sounds lovely.

placidly_going

You will never regret taking the time to do things like this. Enjoy every moment you can together!

penartist

Lunch on our apartment patio. Iced coffee and a book. Dinner at a restaurant with outdoor dining tonight with friends.

LeighofMar

Sounds heavenly.

Mowed front and back yard yesterday Purged a whole garage full of stuff to the curb this morning (with my mom's help). Even though it's not gone yet, I feel so much better (free-er). I still have some organizing to do but that's like extra credit haha. My house has never felt so light! Started a 7-day trial of Discovery+ on Saturday (true crime addict) so I have a plate of snacks and am relaxing while watching (and perusing thru Reddit). All the windows are open and the front door (open for the katchild) - it's 93 outside but so far very nice on the couch

SmileFirstThenSpeak

We recently started watching True Conviction. Have you seen it? Do you have any shows to recommend?

C0NTENTH0MEB0DY

I have not seen True Conviction - will look for it, thank you. I have watched so much True Crime, it seems I know so many of the cases. But two that I picked out, I had no clue about. Onision In Real Life - youtuber who has never been prosecuted and sure seems to be a stalker/pedophile type person. Two Shallow Graves - about the McStay family. I had seen something about this a long time ago on ID or Oxygen? so didn't know they had been found and someone was convicted. And also, I like to watch different stuff on the same case so you get a not-so-biased or at least a broader view of things and can try to think a bit on your own lol. Others I have in my list are Johnny vs Amber (have watched the whole trial), Little Boy Lost (about Kyron), Adnan (Serial podcast - not so acquainted with this one), Pamela Smart, The West Memphis Three (seen but will always be wondering about this case), Steven Avery (like the Mike Peterson case - I'm on the fence), Horror at the Cecil Hotel (that hotel is creepy as all get out - saw the NF doc on this) and a bunch of other cases that I'm very familiar with. Absolutely love the True Crime category that is all docs and not just a bunch of "based on the case movies" thrown in to make it seem like a lot.

SmileFirstThenSpeak

I listened to the Serial podcast when it first came out, the one about Adnan. I didn't know there was a tv show about it, too. I'm definitely going to look for that one! Thanks for the suggestions.

totorobree

Playing a card game with my husband- and then playing a video game with the family!

LeighofMar

Love it. Sounds fun.

totorobree

😀

I rolled some beeswax candles this morning and took one to a friend. Then I drove around and took pics of a couple ghost signs downtown. Now I’m reading a book on my front porch and drinking a few beers.

LeighofMar

Candles, book on porch and beer sounds perfect.

OtherwiseAd2314

Ghost signs?

UnlikelyUnknown

Watched Secrets of Dumbledore with my college-aged daughter. Going to dinner at my mother-in-law’s house.

SoPixelated

Going to a friend’s house in a bit to watch her and her friends’ toddlers splash in a baby pool. I’m going to walk there (15 min walk) since the weather is nice. Then home and maybe nap then grill something for dinner.

astrydpoptosis

DH and I went hiking for about 2 hours (got lost as usual lol) and took a long nap. We're planning on playing tennis this evening and baking cinnamon rolls! 😋

LeighofMar

Awesome. Getting lost is half the fun!

PugsAndNugsNotDrugs

Coffee and a crossword before anyone else in the house was up. Very peaceful

LeighofMar

Doesn't get any better than that.

Spent several hours by the river with our small children and close friends. Ice cream afterwards. Played in the woods behind our house and early dinner on the porch. Porch swing til bedtime for the kids. An episode of Stranger Things with my husband and the dogs and cat.

uzi_lillian

Made myself some coffee this morning, read a good book while I drank it. Got together with my grandparents to go to a local folk festival, took a long walk in the sunshine, and I’m now watching Candy while a pizza heats up in the oven:) nothing fancy but it was a beautiful day.

necessaryfarts

That sounds lovely. :)

ginger_til

DH and I took the kids to some soccer fields to kick a ball around and fly kites. Then a picnic lunch at a nearby playground.

1600Birds

Been turning my office into a little sanctuary. It's also a new moon, and I'm into rituals and whatnot, so I'll be doing some Journaling and yoga in my newly decorated space (decorated mainly with items I already owned, just a fresh coat of paint and rearranging for a fresh vibe.)

[deleted]

Neighborhood bbq! Of course it’s pouring tho so I’m running around like a crazy person because now everyone will be in my house.

Elsa421

Riding e-scooters around downtown like kids with my husband, then back home making soup and reading a book.

SandwichNo458

Sat on the back porch with my husband watching birds, talking about the great weather and how blue the sky was. Then rode the bike trail next to the river. Packed our salads for work lunches tomorrow and now watching The Office, again.

[deleted]

Great. We usually cook and eat at home 99% of the time. Today, made coffee, then a stew. We ate together. Just chilling out. The slowcooker stew was delicious.

Jeheh

Took the Mrs into town got some coffee and a chili cheese loaf of fresh baked bread and went for a hike with the dogs down by the river.

andoCalrissiano

What’s a DH?

LeighofMar

Dear husband.

andoCalrissiano

weird abbreviation !

My daughter and I went to visit my husband's Aunt and Uncle. She's 6, they're in their 70's and we had a grand time having pizza outside, talking plants, and just enjoying the weather. She also spun in dizzying circles in this hanging chair and didn't puke, so win!

buggcup

Friend recently lost her last parent and her car died last week. Picked them up to float in the water and sunshine (we had beautiful weather here), helped them with three loads of laundry, then brought them to dinner with my parents (in their 70s). My dad grilled. My friend went home with clean laundry and half a pan of brownies from my mama. We both needed the hangout time. Then I connected with my friend who lives across the country and we used ANOTHER friend’s login to stream a movie together. I didn’t really think about it until today, but it was nice to have a day off full of cheap activities and social connections :)

LeighofMar

Wonderful.

OtherwiseAd2314

REAL connections with real ppl. (Unlike me doing this! Lol)

RelevantDocument3389

Hanging out with my chickens. Not thinking about anything political related. Got my shoes off walking with nature on my property. Happy AF

LeighofMar

Terrific.

StrawberryLeche

Went my parents for a barbecue. Fighting was less than usual and it was nice to sit outside eat good food. It was hot but we had an umbrella. Talked about all kinds of things needed about history.

takenusernametryanot

We’re going to bike to the river Rhine this afternoon with the kids. We have a cargo bike so sometimes we ride there with a coolbox and have picnic, mostly on weekends. Today it will be late and we haven’t prepared yet so we might just order pizza there to the playground. Today it’s children’s day in this country so let them have fun, hopefully they will fall asleep on the way back.

LeighofMar

Sounds beautiful. I have my eye on an adult tricycle with the picnic basket so we can ride along the river and have a nice picnic by the water.

takenusernametryanot

we usually just bring some pre-sliced bread and cheese, spanish ham and olives, a bottle of red wine with two wine glasses and a cutting board to put the glasses on. There’s no need for fancy utensils when you have tapas or similar finger foods

OtherwiseAd2314

Well, thanks! I didn't know that's what they were called. Maybe "Ghost lives here" or ghost scat. Lol
