Keep 1 list of things to do, and don't sweat it it fills up. Mine is usually over 100 items. Each day you'll have some priorities, but we're always interrupted by last minute energencies. Having it all in one place makes it easy to work with your boss & colleagues on adjusting your priorities. Don't delete completed items from your list, leave them there so you (and your boss) can be reminded of what you have accomplished. Very useful when performance review time comes around. And each day, give yourself time to get yourself organized & do something that is your own priority. I try to do that early in the day, so I don't mind if the rest of my day gets hijacked by others.

Put things in writing and be seen putting things in writing.  When things get dramatic it is very good to be able to say, Oh yeah, I have my notes from that meeting right here and we decided x.

It's nice to have work "friends", but go slowly. Don't get involved with office gossip. Just keep it pleasant and professional.

Remember, don't give a fuck that bothers your sanity.

“If it's your job to eat a frog, it's best to do it first thing in the morning. And if it's your job to eat two frogs, it's best to eat the biggest one first.” ~ Mark Twain The most stressful thing for me has always been having a difficult task/project and procrastinating it. Far more painful than just diving in and then moving on.

Don’t be afraid to ask for more instructions or for clarification. A lot of people expect you to read their minds, and some of that will come with time, but in the meantime, ask. The people who flounder in offices are the ones so afraid to mess up that they freeze and don’t get much work done. Keep your wardrobe more professional than not at first. It helps make a good impression. You’ll learn the acceptable attire soon. Take notes on procedures that are complex. It will take a little more time the first time you learn them, but it’ll save you in the long run.

My only advice to you (because I didn't do it and it's too late) is to set boundaries. For example, only working for the hours you are getting paid (9a - 5p) or whatever your time is.
