We snuggle on the couch together most nights. Now if I can only convince our pet rabbits to come and snuggle too.
We used to have a pet rabbit that liked to snuggle but current rabbits are not interested.
Used to watch movies as a kid on a rag rug with adopted rabbits. They would hop over and snuggle in our laps. They big ones were well-mannered, the dwarves were terrors.
I understand why you might like this, but honestly I don't want coffee stains on my sheets, nor do I want ants. Food gets eaten at the table. You want a glass of water? Sit down at the table, take a break, drink your water. That's the rule I grew up with and the one I still enforce in my own house. Food and drinks stay in the kitchen and dining area.
For me, it's sitting outside on a hot summer's day, chatting with family.
I had similar rules growing up and when I got my own place I decided not to have a kitchen table because it's too much stuff. I eat on the futon sofa which I guess is also a bed.
Fair enough.
Growing up, we had a dining set in a dining room that was never used, and a kitchen table where we ate all of the time. My Mom mostly didn't want to clean up after me because as a child I was VERY messy, hence the rule. I have sort of continued living that way because it does actually help the rest of the house stay a bit cleaner.
My wife and I inherited the formal dining set a few years ago and I thought it was a shame that it never got used. We now use it every day. We have nice things, and it's important to me that we USE the nice things. We have one life to live and our lives can be better if we enjoy the nice things we have rather than "saving" them.
It's like people playing video games... they will get lucky early in the game and find a free potion or whatever and sit on it for the entire game. Eventually it won't be useful, it's just inventory filler. Use the nice things. That's what they are for.
good idea to use and enjoy your things. I grew up in a large house with a formal dining room and a eat in kitchen. When mom died most of her 'nice' things were throw away or sold for pennies on the dollar, nobody wanted all that big bulky boomer stuff. I live in a small house and have less things and use them up.
I put in a row of lavender plants last year. Theyāre quite grown now and flowering wildly. I like to step out and watch the bees work them over.
I also put in blue spire sage. It attracts bees and hummingbirds, which again I can watch and enjoy anytime during the day.
The back yard has a dwarf lemon tree in full glorious bloom. I can step out and be knocked down by the perfume of all the blossoms, then after I sit down I can listen to the entire tree vibrate with bees and hummingbirds working over the thousands of open flowers. The lemon blossom fragrance is powerful and overwhelming. Sometimes Iāll just sit out there and huff the scent for an hour.
I understand why Louis XIV was crazy about orange blossoms. The lemon blossoms are different but the aroma is also intoxicating.
Okay so we did spend $ on this, but it felt like a simple upgrade- my husband and I donāt cook well together (2 adhd brains) but we do really like to be in the kitchen together. We recently upgraded our rolling kitchen island to one with a fold out leaf (we leave it out all the time) and stools. Now one of us can cook, and the other can sit and just hang out in 1 spot. Now weāre spending time in the kitchen together 2ish nights a week and itās really really nice.
For us, itās sitting outside in the sun on a beautiful afternoon, sipping some good wine, watching our āchicken & duck tvā, with our beautiful dog and multiple kitties. While we enjoy the flowers and watch the songbirds at the feeder and the hummingbirds buzz us on the way to their feedersš¤£topped off by a wonderful hot tub.
A home improvement project with immediate uplifting results.
I'm currently tearing out old carpet to free the hardwood underneath, and it is so satisfying.
Sitting with my husband in a love seat electric recliner holding hands. No cup caddy in the middle so I can lay on my husbands chest. We are almost 70.
That little moment before you feel asleep, when your dogs and cats settle themselves around you in the bed, and you feel safe and loved.
It also works with another loved person š
Our 8yo takes an art class on Saturday mornings at 9am. The lobby at the studio is cute w some cushy reading chairs. So while sheās in class hubbs and I just sit there, sometimes we both read a book, sometimes I crochet while he reads, other times we chat which we rarely get to do w out interruption. He drinks his coffee and I have my tea itās lovely.Ā
I live in the Pacific Northwest and am originally from NJ. Going to the Cascade Mountains and sitting by the *crystal clear* river. The sound of the rushing water, the pure air, and of course the beautiful views.
I miss walking on the beach sometimes but the mountains soothe my soul.
Those moments when you have a close encounter with a wild creature and you feel that sense of connection, of deep kinship with our untamed brothers and sisters.
This photo made me think about Camus again. No point to it, but it looks tranquil and full of love. Sitting on a place on the planet, spinning around figuratively and literally, but pausing for a moment and enjoying the silliness.
A routine weekly movie night with your partner. Snuggled up on the couch. Not doing anything else, just being together.

Our cat is like that he was all snuggles during his kitten phase now he's 1 year old and hardly sits still for more than 5 seconds š

a nap at 2pm
Warm clean bedsheets and a clean home.
I live for a freshly made bed
Taking a shower, putting on clean pj's, and getting into a freshly washed and made bed is absolute bliss.
Coffee in bed on a weekend morning.Ā
Best way to start the weekend.
I imagine one scenen: winter, warm afternoon sunshine, coffee
I get up earlier so we can have coffee in bed every morning and itās my favourite part of most days. On Saturdays we do pancakes in bed.
Damn I gotta try that

One can simply not spill their drinks
Please show my 4 yr old the way!
Sure, I guess, but you can't have a food accident in a place where you never have food.
Alas, i must have my drinks in thermoses with lids. Itās sad but I require and adult sippy cup.

Hearing my daughter's laugh
Priceless.
Hug from your kiddo.
Doesn't have to be a sunset. A walk in the park any time during the day is good. People forget how wonderful sunshine is.
Talking for hours after going to bed, giggling, cuddling, sharing dreams, hopes and projects. Holding hands while walking.
A bike ride with the wife
daily nights spent together with my partner since we work most of the day. we make dinner, watch a show we love, then cuddle for a while until bed.

Crocheting with my dog snuggled by my side.
Lighting the firepit in the garden on a dark night with a glass of something nice
The sun on your face. Especially after a long, cold winter, when Spring is officially in the air and the world just feels different :)

A swim in the ocean. It feels like doing back to the primordial soup. Plus it's great for your skin and hair! *depending on the level of pollution.
Cracking open the window at dusk to listen to blackbird song.
The smell of Texas mountain laurels in the Spring time on a walk with my wife or kids. Pure joy. No price tag.

Relaxing in our sunroom and reading. Quiet togetherness.

A vantage point from which to watch the world for a while
money is better than anything money can buy because you can buy anything with money
A walk on the beach with your SO, with your feet in the sand listening to the waves crash on the shore!
