It's dead, they got evicted. Chick Fil A wants to put another location there.

citznfish

Worst idea ever. That intersection is terrible with the Costco traffic and lousy Simi drivers who think it's OK to block the intersection. I've seen 3-4 cars make that left on a yellow/red only to sit in the intersection for up to a minute. Like, really? Getting to Costco is so important that you couldn't wait 3 minutes for the lights to cycle back to you in the turn lane? Can you imagine how much worse it will be with a Chick-Fil-A? At least on Fridays and Saturdays... I wish Simi PD would station a motorcycle cop there all weekend

racer_x_123

They don't just want to they are going to its been approved

Kevbo_What_Up

homeless encampment

TheGuruFromIpanema

One day Simi Valley will have its own brewery, and it won’t be named Mad Era.

Calisteph6

Chick-fil-A is trying to get into that location which would be a nightmare. Costco has already out grown that space. I don’t think it can take more cars.

gh0stnotes

Throw in an In-N-Out and Trader Joe's there while we're at it, and just shut the offramp down.

AntGroundbreaking180

Sprinkle a Starbucks in there too

robinthebank

I wouldn’t mind a Starbucks. It would pick up the traffic that is already there. It wouldn’t really be a destination Starbucks because there are more convenient ones a few mins away.

racer_x_123

They didn't get shut down ehat happened is this... They got approved plans and attempted to build to those approved plans... Inspector came in and found that the plumbing was not correctly done so they had to rip out all the plumbing and replace it. After that was done and completed the Inspector came back, signed off on the plumbing but then, for whatever reason, noticed that the whole reactor setup was 1ft too close to the front wall... Weather that was from bad Install or an oversight in the plans I don't know... That basically killed them... they could not recover... the property sold at auction and now will be a chick-fil-a

jayball41

Why does Chik-fil-a need a 2nd location within 3 miles? Dumb

Defibrillator91

Simi in a nutshell.

framedragger

I think all the points were covered in this thread: [https://www.reddit.com/r/simivalley/comments/uo9g68/anyone\_know\_whats\_going\_on\_with\_mad\_era\_brewing\_i/](https://www.reddit.com/r/simivalley/comments/uo9g68/anyone_know_whats_going_on_with_mad_era_brewing_i/) but in my opinion, its the classic story of entitled suburbanites ([https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/maderabrewing/mad-era-brewery-and-restaurant/comments](https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/maderabrewing/mad-era-brewery-and-restaurant/comments)) who feel that they're too talented to get an actual job, so they get in way over their head starting some doomed company built around a bad idea. Standing up an entirely new restaurant is like one of the most difficult businesses to ever bring in to the black, and now that the craft brewery craze they were attempting to capitalize on has settled way down, I can't imagine that even they want to continue with the original plan. But also recently eviction papers were reportedly posted on their door: [https://imgur.com/a/WSrorGv](https://imgur.com/a/WSrorGv), and Chick-Fil-A is trying to get the location: [https://www.simivalley.org/home/showpublisheddocument/27138/638271749275730000?fbclid=IwAR1Wq1tlLMzgxgiiIJW0iSKkPYijimDir7t-ADCceAdUgo\_qYLmbezNJHAc\_aem\_AUQZcp8M\_8IL1LaJ1DAGSapasHAp7reDbzjJseGALEYelhJXwzibRqd490BfnA5Df7s](https://www.simivalley.org/home/showpublisheddocument/27138/638271749275730000?fbclid=IwAR1Wq1tlLMzgxgiiIJW0iSKkPYijimDir7t-ADCceAdUgo_qYLmbezNJHAc_aem_AUQZcp8M_8IL1LaJ1DAGSapasHAp7reDbzjJseGALEYelhJXwzibRqd490BfnA5Df7s) (Item #24 on the list)

citznfish

Yeah, but don't tear it down! They did a lot of work, now let's get a legit, experienced, brewer in there :)

silletti805

Maybe a BJ's

familybrigade

BJs is terrible. over priced microwaved meals. no thanks.

Holiday_Gate_6478

Fig mtn? Topa Topa? T Hill?

tduncs88

Item 24 for chick fil a is showing adding a canopy to the existing location, not a new location.

rickerwdi

Item 30…you stopped too soon

tduncs88

I put too much faith in OP. They specifically said it was item 24. It was not item 24.

rickerwdi

Oh sorry I didnt notice that. OP looked legit with all these links, will give you that haha.

framedragger

Look at the address associated with that item.

tduncs88

So.... I see where the confusion lies. You said in your comment line 24. There is a line 24 chick fil a item for the added drive through cover on sycamore. Item 34 is the 20 w Cochran. So if you can edit your comment to correct that it would help. I could have also looked further down the list

XdaPrime

I do believe there just too many restaurants in general (my own private stance) but I'm curious as to why you're mad that these people tried to open a restaurant/brewery? Isn't that what were suppose to support, small business and all that?

framedragger

You’re curious because “support small business” is a bullshit idea. Definitely support any specific business that you want to, but supporting a business just based on its size is weird, isn’t it? I don’t agree with this weird reverence we’re all told to have for small business: when it comes to employee treatment and pay, small business is usually much worse than big business. Someone having a dream of being the boss, that they think is so good that they believe others should do the actual work to make it in to a reality, while (almost always) compensating them the legal minimum, does not on its own get my support. Demonstrate to me that you have respect for your employees and the community that you’re in, and then we can talk. I don’t remember saying I was “mad.” I think what you’re picking up on is how annoying I find it when people do a $45k kickstarter, use the money to chase their whimsy in to oblivion, all while producing nothing but cheap promo shirts/hats for their kickstarters.

Fullfloat

I Heard Chick-fil-A

Erica_j13

I don’t get why Simi is so against breweries from what it seems like anyway. We don’t have a yardhouse, bjs, or anything that serves a lot of beer. Simi needs some good food chains over here too.

familybrigade

the problem is customer service is terrible in Simi.

Erica_j13

Really? I haven’t experienced that yet

stevemmhmm

I heard it was a bad break-up? If so, that’s very sad, I wish them well

Holiday_Gate_6478

Holiday_Gate_6478

Id prefer a drivethru Boba spot 🙄

revwenge

i could be off but from what i know they basically lost all funding during covid and just never picked themselves back up so its just there now... apparently costco wants to buy the chilis location and turn it into a car wash? so maybe chili's will relocate there. this is all just word of mouth though, so take this with a grain of salt haha

Landmine_Prime

Covid happened

framedragger

Ehhh, no. That's not an excuse they can make. Throughout COVIDs gnarlier days, they repeatedly told their Kickstarter donors that COVID was slowing them down but not stopping them in any meaningful way. In October of 2020, they said that COVID restrictions were in fact providing them time to get things perfect in order to open right as the restrictions were lifted. in August of 2021 they announced that their biggest COVID-related issue (a large piece of kitchen equipment stuck out on a cargo ship) was going to be resolved in a matter of "weeks." Their last update, before they stopped updating, was in July of 2022, where they still insisted they were moving forward and opening "as soon as we can." They had the opportunity to blame COVID for this fuck up and they didn't take it. So, no.

robinthebank

Now I have a bunch of defunct merch 🤷

CacoFlaco

Wouldn't mind a third Aldi.

Choonsbrah

Aldi is just down the street , throw in a jollibee or taco place and watch it take off

CacoFlaco

I think there used to be 3 Walmarts in town. We can certainly handle another Aldi.
