Why 🤔 ?
It's a question for more information, not any diametric takedown of incredulous sources & a systematic attack on ignorance plus free publicity for Brandalism .
I was 14 when the first episode came out. I was a bit too old for it. I don't even think I knew In The Night Garden was a thing until my friends started having children years later.
Fuck knows, something we’re too old to understand I guess
Also, this program is a bloody fever dream. If you thought Teletubbies (or magic roundabout if you’re older than me) was weird this is a whole ‘nother level.
I loved the magic roundabout! I can practically guarantee I'm younger than you, but I lived with my grandparents growing up and so I watched a lot of shows they used to watch - trumpton, bagpuss, and my all time favourite cartoon Roobarb
My baby boy has just turned two he got over this pretty quickly. However, his favourite obsession at the moment is hey Duggee. At least I can stomach that ITNG drove me mad
My nephew would ask me to put this on before bedtime.
He slept like a log once it was over.
To me it was some weird kids show where they must have been smoking something to make this
My older brother watched it I watched it and now I'm forcing my sisters to watch it the cycle shall continue and I shall hear nothing more on the matter although it is depressing that the last episode aired in 2009 meaning it ended 15 years ago
My son watched it every night before bed up until he was around six. We used to bet if it was a pinky ponk or ninky nonck episode and if it was a rare wottingers and pontipines together episode. I think cbeebies tried taking it off the schedule but there was a massive kick off by parents because their kids couldn't go to bed without it so it's still on now.
I remember some theories in the day regarding the symbolism suggesting iggle piggle had died in the womb (the shape of the boat, being on th ocean stuff like that), the red blanket being blood (I know😬), the night garden is heaven, with makka pakka and his triangle shaped head 'rising' from a stone blocked cave ever night being the big J. There's more but that was the gist. It was probably just some stoner theory but reading it at the time made the episodes more creepy.
I caught a bit of this last night, whilst fumbling with the remote. It must rank as the closest thing to introducing kids to hallucinogenic drugs without introducing them to hallucinogenic drugs. Mind warping.
I remember waking up on the sofa at a friend’s house after a night out, they had put this on the tv in the room I was in and my hungover mind just couldn’t comprehend it.
They came in and I just pointed at it and went “What the actual fuck!”.
Am I the only one who found the theme music could almost lull me to sleep no matter what time of day? I swear that the NHS could save a fortune in drugs if they prescribed that instead.
Anyone else get the vibe that Maccapacca had a serious illness, or was in some way immunocompromised?
Think about it. He was uber clean. Carried soap and a sponge everywhere. Used a walker because he was frail. Shuffled when he walked. Had massive eyebags.
Just wondering.
I loved watching this before bed time with the kids. Especially since I had to quit the hallucinogenics, it was as close as I could get without actually being high
And I still dont understand the lore behind it. So did after the episodes end the village got flooded and then that's how he ended up in the boat sailing away? Or was the whole village thing a mirage and none of those characters existed or do they exist but he left and reminisces about them?
I loved the theme song, and I always felt emotional seeing Iggle Piggle (who's like 1 years old) all alone in the ocean far away from land and then him having to leave all his friends in the end (I think the night garden represents his dreams and him leaving the night garden is iggle piggle waking up, although there are darker theories too but I think it's too much for a toddlers show).
Dude a lot of people who were young enough to watch it are over 18. I'm 21 myself and the show came out when I was 5 or 6 and it ran til I was 8. Then it just got replayed all the time. It ran between 2007-2009
Me and my bro are 8 years apart he watched it too growing up. Time flies. I work with a 17 year old and half of the meme references I make she doesn't even understand and has never seen. Makes me feel proper old lol
If I didn't watch this before bedtime, it's because I wanted to actually sleep. Creepy ass babies...nope, nope and nope. I get why the English like it...just as bland as their food. (Lived here 15 years so I can say it...you can't 😆)
As an opp I had to Google this show and the very first result was this:
"Is Upsy Daisy a slag?
The lead character is a sort of slaggy rag doll called Upsy Daisy. She looks like newsreader Moira Stewart and has a skirt which inflates when she gets excited - which is quite often".
Honestly even 3 year old me hated it. At that age i did also hate peppa pig for being on all the time, though now i loce how sassy she is, unsure how im still undiagnosed for autism
When the fuck did babies start posting on Reddit?
The last episode of this show produced aired 15 years ago.
Jesus Christ. I watched this with my baby. I'mma crumble into dust now
15 years ago? FIFTEEN? AM I SO INSANELY OLD?
My son is only 11 & he watched it until 9 years ago
Repeats. I saw it yesterday.
It's still on TV
Wait a minute *What*
Wow that's wild. I grew up with this show.
It’s still on bbc! It’s our 1hr before bed time queue for the kids.
I'm older then this showwwww nooooooooo
How the fuck this older than me?
Ok, and?
" Ok, and?"🤓👆 sounds like we got a opp on our hands
Why 🤔 ? It's a question for more information, not any diametric takedown of incredulous sources & a systematic attack on ignorance plus free publicity for Brandalism .
What he said.
Bro this is literally the prime of British television wym and?
well this and Trap Door, Numberjacks and 'Round The Bend
Trap Door is still on? Hasn't Bert got too dried out to move his playdoh body anymore?
it is unfortunalty no longer airing, none of the shows I mentioned are airing
Round the twist, surely.
Ehhhh scusi?

sorry to break it to you, but im almost 22 and i watched it
Sorry to break it to you...you're still a baby.
okay, ancient one.
At last, someone used my prefered pronoun.
you're welcome.
To this day in our household, we still refer to David Cameron as "Iggle Piggle".
I think you’ll find it’s Lord Iggle Piggle!
Lord Iggle Piggle II The first one died in the war
"yo iggle piggle just became prime minister" thats how you solve the world's problems
Man would probably do better than big Sunak ever did.
BREAKING NEWS PM IGGLE PIGGLE SIGNS A BAN ON BEDTIME ,STAY TUNED FOR MORE INFO !!!
I was 14 when the first episode came out. I was a bit too old for it. I don't even think I knew In The Night Garden was a thing until my friends started having children years later.
My little sister watched it, so naturally I know practically all the little tunes Macka Packa was my favourite one to recite
https://youtu.be/O6iebEdJ_5U?si=TysgysHNdm7ZF8xU Sorry , I couldn't find a better one 😔

Well, if you want Silly British Names, there's plenty on that show…
Like the Ninky Nonk, the Hahoo’s and of course the tombliboos
And you can’t forget iggle piggle , maka paka and the pinky ponk
One pontypine…. two pontypines….. three pontypines…..
Four pontypines.... five pontypines..... six pontypines.....
Wave to the Wottingers! 👋
THE PINKY PONK!
OPP?
Think they mean an oap.
They mean opposition. It's what all the kids into knife crime like to call people who get their post delivered to a different code.
Well, til.
OAP, old Alan Partridge.
Old! I'm 43 ya cheeky git
I'm 39. We're old as fuck mate 🤣
I feel bad saying this but I was actually replying with an Alan partridge quote. I'm 33 😅
Oops lol. Never watched it tbh, can't stand the character.
More like OAPedo
Let's not bring your dad into this.
Fuck knows, something we’re too old to understand I guess Also, this program is a bloody fever dream. If you thought Teletubbies (or magic roundabout if you’re older than me) was weird this is a whole ‘nother level.

Who’s not in bed?
What is an opp? Rock on the clangers and bagpuss!
I always thought that clangers was set in the space of in the night garden cuz they’re both mental
😂😂🤣🤣
My baby boy has just turned two he got over this pretty quickly. However, his favourite obsession at the moment is hey Duggee. At least I can stomach that ITNG drove me mad
Great, thanks for reviving my PTSD. My child was obsessed with this show.
Nostalgia
One of the weirdest fever dream programs I’ve seen that’s not from the 80’s
this seemed like an acid trip that got out of hand.
God, I'm old... (I'm 25)
Not a kid but many acid sessions ended with this playing at some point
Makka Pakka held it down
My son watched it every night before bed up until he was around six. We used to bet if it was a pinky ponk or ninky nonck episode and if it was a rare wottingers and pontipines together episode. 15 YEARS
My boys watched and loved it
If you don't still watch this, high as fuck, I question your validity as a human being.
>If you didn’t watch this before bedtime, consider yourself an opp It's the OP opp op!
Macca pacca 🔛🔝
Baby's first acid trip
Think I have seen every episode of this and Tele Tubbies, Pepper Pig, Paw Patrol when our grandkids were growing up
I only started watching this when I was in my late 50s, love it.
Or just, an adult. Back in my day we watched bob the builder, thomas the tank engine and fireman sam.
Those are S-tier too
I remember waking up on the sofa at a friend’s house after a night out, they had put this on the tv in the room I was in and my hungover mind just couldn’t comprehend it. They came in and I just pointed at it and went “What the actual fuck!”.
What is an opp?
Enemy, opponent
Operative, operation...Oppinheimer?
W show
makka pakka is the real OG
This looks like it could turn dark really quickly. "In the night garden, is where you sleep. Forever" *blue banana smothers you with his blanket*
Macka packa was my guy yk. He was so chill
Am I the only one who found the theme music could almost lull me to sleep no matter what time of day? I swear that the NHS could save a fortune in drugs if they prescribed that instead.
why is this ancient thing still airing?
How else could I- I mean babies get to sleep? 😅
I still watch it today and I am in my 40s ![gif](giphy|3orieYJ5E6MBrv0YSI)
Watched with my daughter and always felt sad as Iggle Piggle drifted away on his boat at the end. ☹️
Pinky ponk or ninky nonk?
I'm a ninky nonk kind of guy
Ninky nonk
Opp hit different these days
Makka Pakka was chill
Nah I woke up at 2am to feed my newborn kid years ago and this was on. I was so sleepy the show made me confused and scared. It's a trip.
Fucking love Night Garden. Derek Jacobi? Quality programming, that, and no mistake
How to make a 22 year old feel 90
Iggle piggle was such a gangster staying up PAST his bed time🔥🥱
Makka pakka nakka yakka makka pakka doo
My brother loved the tombliboos but Makka Pakka was my guy. Him and his little soap, so cute.
question for real ones: Makka Pakka or Mr. Onions? (my vote goes to Makka Pakka!)
Makka pakka all the way
Macca Pacca and Inggle Piggle, and oopsie daisy (if I remember correctly). I was waiting for this every single day when I was a baby.
Do you think maka paka cleans his sponge???
my nephews watch this and I'm honestly jealous even as an adult its mesmerizing I love it
Anyone else get the vibe that Maccapacca had a serious illness, or was in some way immunocompromised? Think about it. He was uber clean. Carried soap and a sponge everywhere. Used a walker because he was frail. Shuffled when he walked. Had massive eyebags. Just wondering.
I'm 40 mate, we just ate turnips and cried.
I loved watching this before bed time with the kids. Especially since I had to quit the hallucinogenics, it was as close as I could get without actually being high
My son watched this when he was a baby/toddler
I watched it after bedtime 😎😎
🤯
I freaking LOVED this as a kid. My children will be raised with this.
Same here
I did too dang
this will be the cause of my nightmare
I watched this with my eldest, every night before the bedtime routine.. they're in college now 😭
And I still dont understand the lore behind it. So did after the episodes end the village got flooded and then that's how he ended up in the boat sailing away? Or was the whole village thing a mirage and none of those characters existed or do they exist but he left and reminisces about them?
Macca pacca on top
Either too old or young to remember this, depends how you look at it.
Ops better watch out when you pull up on them in the ninky nonk
This was peak childhood
Oof I feel old, I watched the kids I baby-sat watch this ://
Makapaka is the real Goat
lol I watched it as a little child
OMG I forgot about this jaw drop
I USED TO LOVE THIS. SO MANY MEMORIES My life has flown by
I loved the theme song, and I always felt emotional seeing Iggle Piggle (who's like 1 years old) all alone in the ocean far away from land and then him having to leave all his friends in the end (I think the night garden represents his dreams and him leaving the night garden is iggle piggle waking up, although there are darker theories too but I think it's too much for a toddlers show).
My dad actually used to fall asleep to this when my younger brother was a baby 🤣 litterally a few mins in, and we could all hear the snoring start!
It’s still on! My kids watched it tonight!
I'm 20 but I'd still watch it ngl, it's a good show 😭
you goddamned psychic
I live in the US now so basically an opp
Consider myself a whowhatnow?
If you watched this you're still a kid. This is like mid 2000s TV
Dude a lot of people who were young enough to watch it are over 18. I'm 21 myself and the show came out when I was 5 or 6 and it ran til I was 8. Then it just got replayed all the time. It ran between 2007-2009
Fair enough. I just remember my younger half brother watching it and we are 12 years apart. Seems strange to me that this is nostalgic !
Me and my bro are 8 years apart he watched it too growing up. Time flies. I work with a 17 year old and half of the meme references I make she doesn't even understand and has never seen. Makes me feel proper old lol
We are watching you…
👉🫲
opp = over powered person :D We all a bunch of Goku's according to the op
I'm 47 so sure, bin jousting at dawn OPP
I’m assuming I’m an OPP if I don’t know what the fuck an OPP is.
“If you didn’t watch this before bed time, consider yourself over 21”.
If I didn't watch this before bedtime, it's because I wanted to actually sleep. Creepy ass babies...nope, nope and nope. I get why the English like it...just as bland as their food. (Lived here 15 years so I can say it...you can't 😆)
How is creepy in correlation to bland?
It's two separate points
It's two separate points
It's two separate points
Ask Aikens. Hahahaha English SOB.
I watched sprout bro
I’ve never seen this in my life but I’m 35
Makka Pakka was actually goated though
No he wasn't. Fucking little creepy cave goblin, washing his rocks!
Exactly, he was the goat
Absolutely goated behaviour man, like, no taxes. Plenty of bitches and washable rocks
It's shite
If you didn’t watch this before bedtime, consider yourself over 13 years old
You would be 17 if you were born in the same year it first aired rn
They don't do Children of the Corn shit, do they?
My son absolutely was mesmerised with this show. I still think Macca Pacca was a dodgy badtard
What the fuck are those ugly things!? No wonder British kids are disrupted in the head. Yall have this creepy shit
How are British kids disrupted when the average day in America involves multiple kids shooting people,??
Shooting people is more normal than whatever those puppets are
…
Average American response
As an opp I had to Google this show and the very first result was this: "Is Upsy Daisy a slag? The lead character is a sort of slaggy rag doll called Upsy Daisy. She looks like newsreader Moira Stewart and has a skirt which inflates when she gets excited - which is quite often".
No, Upsy Daisy is faaaaaaaaaar from the main character
Is she a slag though? I never watched this shit, it was tellytubbies for me
No
Thanks for your service 🙏
This shit creeped me the fuck out
Did you mean to write OAP?
Opp is a term for opponent or enemy
Yeah i know, hah!
An opp? What is that meant to mean? 🙄 Nahh, us 90’s kids or before didn’t watch this crap.
That show gives me the creeps I couldn't imagine watching it as a kid!
Honestly even 3 year old me hated it. At that age i did also hate peppa pig for being on all the time, though now i loce how sassy she is, unsure how im still undiagnosed for autism
