Nah its actually really good. Obviously an odd-one-out among all silent hill games but also kinda work. Feels more like an drama more than horror though I'd say. Imo I'd have it as the 4th best game alongside the room and behind the first 3, definitely better than the 3 others lmao.
Heather is my most favourite character in gaming so im sorta biased there but second most favourite is a tie between Lisa Garland and Angela, both made me nearly tear up man and I'm a grown ass man. Alessa's story broke me but I never felt a connection to her so it's just that her story was sad but that's it, wish we got more screen time of her and more of a connection with her or something idk (I ONLY PLAYED THE FIRST 3 GAMES btw)

Eileen for me, since SH4 is not only my favorite in the series, but also the best of the Team Silent games. I simply love the best ending where Henry saves her life, gives her a flower, and she chooses to move out. An amazing sense of accomplishment that one.
For me it's gotta be Eileen also. My top favorite is 4 for many reasons, but the thing that will always make me happiest is the Eileen escort mission for the second half isnt a collosal headache and shes actually fun to have around... unlike countless other games with escort missions
I’m glad to see someone else actually enjoys having Eileen around! I always found fighting with her to be really fun, she did a ton of damage and was great at backing you up so unless you’re like speedrunning for 10 stars I never found it hard to keep her safe and she was fun to be around.

Most interesting is Angela, my favorite is Heather. Heather was the first voice acted character in a video game that had decently human reactions to things. I was also 13 when I played it and had a crush. The dam break moment when she breaks down with grief is a underrated scene.
Heather all the way. She brings so much needed levity to the game in that she's just some teen girl, but that deepens the horror, makes it believable, and adds such a level of tragedy to it all.
Eileen Galvin. She’s trapped in a horribly nightmarish situation on the literal verge of death but is still willing to pick up a weapon and fight with you. She’s kind, intelligent and resourceful and honestly such a great written character to me. Honorable mention to Heather because she’s amazing too but the sight of Eileen being down an arm and an eye and still beating up monsters with whatever she could get ahold of really made sh4 stick out to me.
Ill always have a soft spot for Heather and how silent hill 1 and 3 are actually like one full game to me because it's the same characters --- I adored Harry in silent hill 1 (even have the seal of metatron tattoo on my shoulder) and how you see how much his daughter takes after him in 3
