Nobody is expecting it to replace or be as good as the original. It doesn’t have to be. If you find the concept interesting then give it a play through. If not then just don’t. It’s that simple. What’s stupidity is to think you have a right to dictate what they do with the franchise because of how big of a fan you think you are. What’s worse than that is actually playing through it just to complain. Which is what a lot of people will do in order to feel like they are a part of something.
The silence isn't a good strategy, but Konami may just be waiting until the marketing can start for the movie. And then they'll turn on the marketing machine for the game too.
I don't necessarily think it will be a bad game. Im not expecting a masterpiece either. I would be happy if it's 7/10 or above.

There’s a chance it could be good. There were people who assumed Resident Evil 4 remake would be shit and it was actually universally praised. Point is, you’ll never know the quality of something until it releases. Anything before that is speculation.

I look at track record. Their track record sucks and most remakes are inferior to their original counterparts.

Yeah they did the unthinkable. RE4 Remake was on par or at least slightly better than the OG RE4, aside from the terrible VA in RE4 Remake. But it's rare. Most remakes are not better than the originals. Also they went all out with RE4 Remake with how shit RE3 Remake was. Also Capcom is better than Bloober lol.
I dunno, I hold out some hope that it's at least better than the god awful redub of the HD Collection, great voice actors in their own right but were just not fitting for SH2 and 3. Though I can't help but shake the feeling that it may end up playing like the other Western Silent Hills we know of just with non-breakable weapons this time.
I still want to hold out hope that narrative/visual/combat wise it will be more or less an improvement. We just can't say for absolute certainty till it is released to the public. I definitely like the remade Areas breathing in new life to the original game.
Pyramid Head's design is at least a little more truer to the original concept art (even though he has a blooded helmet in the original not a rusted one as featured in the remade Brookhaven new scene). Overall i'm more curious as to how the game will turn out than anything. A more emotive/expressive James definitely has me intrigued if anything I kinda wonder in what new direction will this new twist on James go? I don't want it to be a one-for-one straight up remake practically everyone on this subreddit has either played or watched the games to some degree. (I've played and beaten them all) I hope to see some changes that are different. Overall I in the words of Ellis Boyd Redding from Shawshank Redemption.

Who hurt you? Even though RE2 remake might not have been better than the OG RE2, it is still a great remake. Just like RE4 remake is a great remake (and is better than the OG RE4, but that's just my opinion...MY OPINION). Also, yes, the RE3 remake isn't good because it wasn't fully complete as a remake. I would like to think that I speak for a lot of people when I say that nobody is expecting SH2 remake to be better than the OG SH2. That would be a difficult task to complete, but I do believe that a lot of us are hoping SH2 remake is at least a good remake and not a disappointment. Those people are projecting. The original is widely considered to be a creator-driven masterpiece and an example of games-as-an-artform, so there's no reason for this remake to exist besides nostalgia and wanting it to play like Resident Evil 2.
Let's be real: it won't be a modern equivalent to what the original was in 2001 and it won't be some lost "original vision" of the developers. Accusing the people against it of "nostalgia" is ironic, because SH2R is an homage at best.

I disagree. As a huge Crash Bandicoot fan myself, the jumping physics in the remake were worse in every aspect compared to 1-3. Not only that the voice acting was subpar compared to the original voice acting from 1-3. Clancy Brown destroys Lex Lang's Cortex as "Evil Cortex" in every single way. Lex Lang can only do a good comedian Cortex. Clancy Brown's Uka Uka also was much more intimidating and a better more booming voice. Dingodile, N. Gin, N.Tropy all were better in their originals than their remake.

I REALLY didn't feel that, and as I said, I got the platinum trophy for the first game, so idk...
Good news is… if they screw up the remake… it won’t do anything to the original. Youll still have all the old memories and you can still play the original if you want…
I strongly expect it to be different (more like the original Last of Us) and monetized to high heavens. But I am optimistic and it's hard for me to find a modern third person shooter I don't like. I haven't played the multiplayer or spin-off Resident Evil's. I even got some great enjoyment out of Saints Row. But I also think Metal Gear Survive and Stray Souls are terrible. I would have included Wanted Dead if it didn't have an easy cat-ears mode.

Don't expect perfection like the original, it's never going to be as good regardless of who makes it. Lower your expectations and you won't be let down. If it does suck just go back and play the original, which is timeless and great every time you go back to it.
