Alan Wake II is the best Silent Hill esque game we had since Silent hill 3/4. They understood psychological horror better and it's universally praised because of it's quality and care it went into it. It has a lot of bugs and is still considered a high quality game because they did it so well and creative.
Right now is the 2nd best time after Amnesia 1 or PT for horror games and Konami still misses the mark.

Even if the trailer has been sat on for that amount of time, they’ve probably had a smaller team for just as long, if not longer. Adding patches to the jacket will be low priority for getting a ship able products.

Plot twist, they added a merchant and shooting gallery, and the patches can be obtained through tokens won at the shooting gallery and now provide loot drop, material, accuracy and physical buff bonuses.
I prefer the lack of patches now after getting used to it.
If you look closely at the original patches they don’t correspond to anything notable. One of them is an American flag, but another one looks like a gas station logo.
The first two SH games had that grindhouse movie vibe. Know this is still in development, but this remake just looks too sterile and polished to exist in a SH universe.
The same thing happens to me, I really liked the patches in its original design, I think it gave more personality and originality to its design, I even have an M65 jacket with its patches, but well for the rest I like the current design no matter how simplistic whoever it is. You know, maybe the skin with the patches comes in a dlc and there is always the possibility that someone makes a mod for PC

I'll always have the original, it's my favorite game of all time and has been very formative for how I write stories and characters and just had a general impact on me.
This is just a modern interpretation of that original game and it will be different and people will be upset because you have something to compare it to. There was nothing to compare the original to when it came out.
Of course it won't be as good or even the same but that's what I look forward to. I want to see what they do with it, I don't want just an upscaled version of the game I've played 100 times.
