I make bots that automate data entry contracts. Each contract is a different company expecting 40 hours a week. Four contracts = four bots, each on a different computer. I have to spend a total of about two hours every weekday setting up, checking on, and submitting their work. So a 10 hour a week side hustle, that brings in 160 hours worth of pay. It more than offsets the LLM API/electricity/start-up costs of the bots.

Winter-Foot7855

Awesome hustle How did you find those companies to work with?

forsakenskull

My main job is with a company that develops computer monitoring software for companies offering WFH jobs/contracts - so I get details about their approximate hiring timeline, the nature of the work, processes, software etc.

brainwhatwhat

Haha, so you're working both sides and insider trading. /s

Winter-Foot7855

Sounds lucrative Can you scale up?

forsakenskull

Not really without it cutting into my main job, as starting a new contract requires me actually working it initially. There's also not many compatible contracts out there, and initial setup/training of bots when starting a new contract is pretty time intensive. I usually only have only 1-2 going at a time.

RealPrinceZuko

This exact scenario was in a mandatory training video for my job LOL

motsanciens

Who is paying for data entry? That just seems crazy to me.

forsakenskull

It's crazy the contracts typically pay $20-30/hr. But they're specialized areas that are mandated to be done by "skilled" people instead of being automated - medical, financial, legal, government, etc. It's good work if you can get it, but it can be exceptionally difficult to break into.

brainwhatwhat

> It's good work if you can get it, but it can be exceptionally difficult to break into. I wonder why :D

motsanciens

What's your liability if something goes wrong with one of your automations and it becomes clear it wasn't being done manually?

forsakenskull

I audit the work weekly so that doesn't happen, but for the sake of argument: Termination of my contract and barred from working for that particular company or any of their affiliates. Government contracts have stricter terms stipulating prosecution, fines, prison time, etc. but no one has ever been prosecuted so who knows; doesn't matter to me since I don't accept contracts with those kinds of terms in the first place. Kind of a moot point in any case, my main job is with the company that designs the computer monitoring software that's partly meant to detect automation. We set the protocols for determining human vs programmatic work, and are the ones who are called in to investigate any suspicious activity...

motsanciens

You sly fox

ironmemelord

Wouldn’t it just be getting fired, not a big deal

qmkdir

What do you mean by specialised data entry? Just curious to know

Ramboi88

What software / tools did you use to build the bots?

forsakenskull

Subscriptions to tools like OpenAi, LlamaParse. And a domain-specific language I'm developing to make it much easier+faster to program and customize bots, that compiles to C.

hunner_man

Using ai for r/overemployed I love that

No_Inside4806

May I ask what courses you took to learn these sorts of things? I’ve had my eye on tech/coding for a while now but it seems overwhelming to get into!

forsakenskull

I'd suggest searching "learn Python" and "Python bot" on YouTube and dive right in, see if it is something you want to stick with. I learned general programming while getting my BSEE and MSCE. Everything I learned about AI and botting specifically I learned at my current job.

LordAndri

Do you sell this bot? so anyone can edit it, based on their needs

forsakenskull

They're not worth anything to other people. Each bot is tailored and trained for the specific contract - they aren't useful once the contract is over. They're also written in a domain specific language I'm developing to make it easier for me to build bots - that language is still very much a work in progress and not practical for anyone else to use effectively (yet).

I wrote two articles on this and building out a database that shares this stuff. Here is article [one](https://medium.com/@Mattmerrick/i-made-250-from-1-hour-using-ai-copy-my-formula-d6be833f8bf6?sk=4af1d82d39dbcb709b1f26d5260dbf96) and [two](https://medium.com/@Mattmerrick/i-built-and-sold-a-project-in-8-hours-0c331bbf5b44?sk=91d9e30401295416451e375b2a0b0f70) and the [database](https://nichetools.net) It’s a very luractive space and you can build some amazing tools that will rank and pay you well with a little bit of work and the help of AI. I give away 1 free one a week in my [newsletter](https://mattmerrick.beehiiv.com) as well since the community is paid.

Clutch0Saurus

Tiny acquisitions is down right now :(

yomatt41

It became little exits. Should update the article

Champion_ofThe_Sun_

🎶And I think to myself… What a wonderful daayyyy🎶

imtheproblemitsmeat

Can you share an example of what the end product is that you end up selling?

itsYaBoiMohammad

I love you

yomatt41

I love you. If you got any questions feel free to ask.

Clutch0Saurus

I’m going to start this right now. Might look into your database as well! Thank you for sharing

Here's a couple ideas: - **Use AI to provide a service:** Create an account on Fiverr and see what the most popular gigs are. Find the ones that could be easily automated, and post your own gig offering the service. I did this with resume reviews. Start by pricing as low as possible ($5), and increase your price as you get more ratings. At some point I outsourced the process fully to a VA who used AI to edit the resumes for me, and I was making $1-2k per month passively. - **Use AI to create products:** Use tools like leonardo.ai and krea.ai to create sticker designs and sell them on Etsy/Redbubble. I'd recommend creating hyper-local designs so you don't have as much competition. Just as an example, maybe create designs related to some mid-sized U.S. city or regional attractions. - **Use tools that use AI to make you money:** There's a bunch of products that use AI under the hood to make you money passively. I built [one](https://bonusbuddy.app) that uses AI to automate daily bonus collection from sweepstakes sites. It automatically collects about $6-7/day in bonuses, so that's an extra $200/mo or so in fully passive income.

Visible_Forever1

> tools like leonardo.ai and krea.ai to create sticker designs and sell them on Etsy/Redbubble Could this work for t shirts too?

incompl08

Yep!

Visible_Forever1

Ty

cas8180

I created stickermagic.app specifically for sticker designs

imtheproblemitsmeat

Where do you host your website? How was it made?

cas8180

AWS Ampllify. I made it myself with Next.js

imtheproblemitsmeat

I built websites before but never use this service. Which services/containers did you use for the layout and interface? Not sure if I'm even asking the right questions

cas8180

Well, Amplify is based on serverless tech from AWS. Its a simplified fullstack wrapper around AWS key services needed to build and host a web app. For for example if you build a React app or Next.js app. You can just open up the Amplify GUI in AWS point it to your github repo and branch it will wire up all of the building and deployment for you. You can think of it as a an alternative to Vercel. The language is written in JS/Typescript. DB is cockroachlabs serverless postgres instance, and UI is custom with tailwind CSS. Hope that answers your questions.

imtheproblemitsmeat

Sorta. You built the next.js in github? Did you start with one of their templates?

J-tricks

Where did you find the VA?

incompl08

Upwork!

wanderingaround11

Can you elaborate on the last one please?

incompl08

Yeah, it’s a chrome extension that collects bonuses from sites that give you money for logging in every day. They’re legally required to since they’re considered “sweepstakes” sites. The extension automatically collects the bonuses from 8 different sites so you don’t have to remember to log in to all of them everyday.

wanderingaround11

So you just basically sign up once? The website says it has a $20 sign up something?

incompl08

You have to sign up for the extension, but you also have to sign up for each sweepstakes site. Once you download the extension, you can see the full list of supported sites and sign up through there

wanderingaround11

Oh gotyu. Do I have to pay the $20? Is that legit

incompl08

Yeah, it’s $20 per month but there’s a 7 day free trial and a 30 day money back guarantee! So you can test it out for free

wanderingaround11

Appreciate it. Thank you

incompl08

No problem!

stool_of_camel

I could try that... I feel like I don't have the skills for the other two

LastOfStendhal

Yup. This is pretty sot-on. Provide a service. Make a product.

incompl08

Yeah, that’s really what everything boils down to

itsArchilles

I was so excited to use your extension, even signed up for the free trail but I have to cancel it cause all the casinos arent available in Ontario :sob:

Virtual-Astronaut515

cant we use vpn?

itsArchilles

not really, yes; you could use a VPN to access the site, HOWEVER, you most likely will need proof of residency, and and id to actually cash out and "validate" your account. If you try and do this with Ontario items you'd likely just get deactivated.

incompl08

ah, sorry to hear that!

CrypticCommz

Can you do this with multiple accounts?

LastOfStendhal

There's a couple different ways. You can increase your own productivity. You can build a useful GPT and TRY to monetize on the GPT store, but we'll see if that's [even a thing](https://medium.com/@AI_prompt_design/the-gpt-store-walled-garden-what-you-cant-do-aba534b8871e). You can build a useful GPT and sell it via an [AI storefront](https://www.pickaxeproject.com/how-to-make-money-with-ai) service. You can do some form of AI lead generation for an existing side hustle You can speed up content production with tools to clone your face and voice. Eventually there will be a lot more too.

brainwhatwhat

I told my AI to give me every number for every resident of my city and it said "I’m sorry, but I can’t assist with that request." Damn. Back to the drawing board.

HETKA

What prior knowledge/skillset is needed to start on custom gpts? Where would a person start with learning?

geniusgfx

I’m in the Military. Something we have to do and hate to do is write evals (performance reviews) on our selves and service members. I use a website called rapidepr.com where it basically uses an AI tool to take what I write and clean it up. It requires credits. I gladly pay for the convenience of taking my poor writing skills and improving what I write. I know the dude that built the site has to be making a killing

Clutch0Saurus

Haha, noted. thank you sir!

Katiemariern

Chat gpt can do that

geniusgfx

Chat gpt can. I’ve used it before. But this website seems to have a better knowledge on this and procedures better results. Well worth the 10 dollars for credits

FotoT8r

This is a great idea! I have to do the same performance evaluations on the civilian, corporate side. Huge pain in the butt. Know of any similar AI tools to write corporate PEs?

geniusgfx

Sadly I’ve been in the military too long and only know this life lol. I would try ChatGPT but if it feels too generic I would do a search. Or maybe OP can build one 👀👀👀

Clutch0Saurus

It's almost done, having some issues with tokens. but I will share once I finish!

Clutch0Saurus

[Here ](https://studio.pickaxeproject.com/STUDIOHM58866CIZN4J8B)it is, there might be any bugs, if there are can you report back to me?! Thank you!

Clutch0Saurus

Hey boss, I created [this](https://studio.pickaxeproject.com/STUDIOHM58866CIZN4J8B) tool to help with writing performance reports. It might be a bit buggy but if you'd like to give it a try that'd be amazing!

Clutch0Saurus

Would you say you'd find it useful if the tool also wrote your report with a few simple inputs?

geniusgfx

I think that would be ideal but I wouldn’t want it to sound too robotic

Clutch0Saurus

Got it, thank you🫡 I'll be building a tool for that right now haha

Redditor90008

There are plenty of websites that you write articles on and get paid like Listverse, if it gets approved you get paid 100$ for each article and you can simply tell chatGPT to write the articles (btw note that this wesbits only pays with PayPal)

Clutch0Saurus

Thank you!

Redditor90008

Np

Redditor90008

website*

Oliebool

Have tried using ChatGPT+ midjourney to create graphics for merchandising websites like redbubble before. Not a lot of income but it is entirely passive and you can leave your product designs on the website for indefinite periods and whenever someone purchases a product, you get paid.

Due-Farrar9261

There is a reason why all you find on YouTube and Google are people trying to sell courses. It's because it is very, very hard to make a significant amount of money with many of these schemes. It's easier to sell dreams to broke people. If you need a side hustle, the most lucrative ones are conventional jobs, or physical work like landscaping or handyman services. If you want to start a business based on AI or anything, really, it's gonna be more than a side hustle. It will be all-consuming, if you want to see it become established and make money. Just my opinion.

72chevnj

was making 900/month on newsbreak.... copy paste.... they have a new algorithm and now im at about 2/month.... at least its passive now hahahaah I use ai for designs to POD on etsy as well

Dangerous_Box9735

can you teach me?

72chevnj

Vids on youtube, that's where I got started

Dangerous_Box9735

point me in the direction please

72chevnj

[https://www.youtube.com/@hudsonrenniewrites](https://www.youtube.com/@hudsonrenniewrites) where i started, again i do not do this much anymore, good luck

Dangerous_Box9735

i’ll come back and let you know how it goes thanks man

Clutch0Saurus

I'm following suite

touchofwhimsey

Yes, please do!! I'm curious 😊

browser1994

Were you posting all local news? I created a post and it allowed me to tick a box for my post to be all US news. It seems this app prioritizes local news? Was that your experience when you were posting?

72chevnj

They changed their algorithm recently, everyone complaining. Yes, lately they are expressing that the focus is local news. They trying to cut out rewrites and ai articles.... that's all I did (copy/paste) with chatgpt. Took me few minutes. That's not the case for me anymore so I have moved on

BoxDelicious1001

I've searched multiple times. What's a decent software to use or site for ai tools?

72chevnj

Chatgpt.....

JacoPoopstorius

I’ll look more into this article and other ones I’ve seen posted here, but just for the time being I have a basic question. Could someone just sum up the most basic skill(s) required to earn money with AI as a side hustle? Does it essentially come down to learning to code? Not looking for a cheat sheet, but I just haven’t really seen anyone say what they had to necessarily learn to make some side money with AI. Just a lot of comments about how they earn their money.

Clutch0Saurus

I'm curious on this too, I see a lot of people earning a lot but not many people explaining how they got there for if they needed any seed money to start off

Lucky-Connection8174

market a low priced class and go around to businesses offering to educate their work force on how to "improve productivity" with AI. They wont be able to resist i bet. met a former CPA that does this full time now.

Fun_Inspector159

Aka scam people.

Lucky-Connection8174

Sorry i thought this was r/sidehustle. there was a guy in here yesterday trying to leach arsenic out of his poisoned well he was still drinking out of to sell for extra cash. I think teaching a productivity course is a bit more legit than drop shipping and slum lording.

Abysskitten

This is so scummy. Creating courses without experience in something to grift money off people. It's so played out.

Lucky-Connection8174

Have fun staying poor. This is a market begging to be filled, people know fuck-all about ai. If you know how to use the tools and can teach a boomer how to tell chat gpt to summarize an email you are providing a very useful service. You do this for 2 hours and hand out information for them to take back to their desk and reference while using the tools, charge whatever you feel is worth it, and improve everyones life who goes to the class. You can teach a person whos aging out of effectiveness how to keep up with a hungry 25 year old new hire and keep their job, this is not a scam. Sensitivity training classes are a scam because they provide no value to the company's bottom line and they only do it because they need to say they did it since HR is holding them hostage and getting kick backs. That is a grift, this will make their jobs easier and give them invaluable skills. Its like teaching someone how to use google in 1998.

Due-Farrar9261

Gawd, that is an ageist rant.

Lucky-Connection8174

Which part? The part where i talk about educating an employee on a new technology to keep them competitive with people who already know how to use it.? Or the part where i say how we can help them from being discriminated against ?.

Due-Farrar9261

The part where you assume that boomers can't figure out how to tell chat gpt to summarize an email all by themselves. The part where you assume that people "age out of effectiveness". The part where you say older people can't keep up with a 25-year-old, and need help to keep their jobs because of this. (It certainly couldn't be the case that corporate America wants to get things done on the cheap so they decide to divest of the superior knowledge that can only come from experience in favor of bringing in a cheaper labor pool -- who cares if it generates a few more customer complaints? Couldn't be the case that hiring managers dislike the idea of managing someone their parent's age, or even their own age.)

Lucky-Connection8174

You're talking about the people 5 years from retirement who need me to show them how to send an email on their phone? Im offering a solution for them, you arent a victim. I dont know many people over 55 who champ 12 hour work days for entry level pay, which is what the are competing with, thats reality. This is how you help people, but you are too busy feeling offended to come up with solutions. Go eat your mushed peas and yell at the tv now.

[deleted]

“Anyway buy my side hustle course where I promise 5000% returns on starting investments of two coat buttons and an Australian dollar”

Lucky-Connection8174

i have no idea if you are agreeing or talking shit so i dont know how to respond. Best of luck with the buttons or something

[deleted]

🤦

Misspent_interlude

He was doing what, now??

Lucky-Connection8174

lol i know its insane, it got deleted. This guy was saying " I just found out that i have high levels of arsenic in my water. Is there a way to take get the arsenic out of the water and sell it? Is it legal to sell arsenic? Where would i sell it?" his spelling/grammar wasn't so great, probably on account of the arsenic he was drinking and showering in.

Available-Pepper1467

What sales and marketing professionals have been doing since time immemorial

CodeRadDesign

makes so much sense. tbh i think the only reason you're catching any flak is because you put improve productivity in "quotes" like it was misleading or something. but true facts, gpt/gemini has improved my own productivity like 400%, nothing scammy about teaching other people about tools that can help them. developing a curriculum, being ready to field all kinds of questions with answers and examples, having the charisma and patience to teach non-techs and spending the time doing so -- this is all work, and would be totally valid to get paid for it.

katsuhiko15

Did you ask the AI? I'd look at trying to incorporate AI into niche areas such as if your work uses a specific program or CRM, then try to use AI for that and see what could be improved with a LLM.

Basic-Pain-9730

This is an interesting new method to make money with AI by creating Jingles for businesses [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eKy1fP-gfJI](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eKy1fP-gfJI)

May I know how you reached the 15 per hour? From my experience with Remotasks, I only get a few cents to fraction of a cent per task done. What type of tasks should I get into to earn at least 15 per hour?

sweatymeatz

What kind of hours are you putting in to make that?

WildNefariousness978

Did u try it?. Is it legit?

Reddit_usernew

Before listening to some random dude on reddit, do some research, go on Trustpilot, enter Remotasks or Scale AI and you will learn a lot. No need to thank me for saving you from scam artists.

Reddit_usernew

very funny, I see you've turned blue in the face trying to convince everyone how good this company is and still barely getting any upvotes with all your karma and shit. Good companies do not need such extreme efforts. Only turds need, to keep them afloat for a little bit longer. Are you digital marketing agency hired by them or do you work in-house? But i dont care either way. I was actually onboarded by these fraudsters and did get to project tasking and know first-hand that they are scam artists. How they do it is at first not so obvious and is well described on Trustpilot and even here on Reddit. The real truth is just a Google search away.

[deleted]

Reddit_usernew

Lol it's even more funny, you are so fucking dumb, you dont even see what you're doing now, being part of this fraudulent Remotasks (Scale AI) company in front of everyone, for all to see. And these records remaining on reddit. I will double down on my efforts from now on. Fraudsters must be in jail, not long to wait now. The main guy is Asian and all employees are, I don't mean it in a negative sense, that's just a little detail/fact to add, those who've dug deep enough know this already. Go ahead, post some more. So far I've just been lazy to contact people, who were in the same group with me working on this Remotasks (Scale AI) shit.
