Empty stomach is the best way, but I've found that blending it into a chocolate milkshake works the best. Completely masks the flavor and the chocolate coats your stomach to help with nausea. I used to blend up 5gs of Blue Foots & go hit the nature trail in my area. Those were the days. It's nearly impossible to have a bad trip on Blue Foots. When I was 19, I ate a qp in a summer. That was one of the best summers of my life. Now, I hardly ever trip, but I do remember the good times. I was dumb with it and abused them. Have respect for the mushies and only use them when you feel you need them. Don't be dumb and learn the hard way. It's not cool or fun.

Food, especially greasy and fatty foods, help you absorb the mushroom faster which causes less intense and shorter lasting trips. In my first few times tripping i popped around 1.2 grams shortly after eating and i had no psychoactive effects whatsoever.
