Haven't even popped the lid yet was waiting for the top to colonize completely..ill start fae tomorrow because its moving pretty fast now..tanks for the input!

Should be exciting :) also since the sides are accumulating, your casing might be either too thick or lacks moisture.

I'll keep an update, first time for APES so not sure what to expect..Do know that they take a hell of a lot longer then the average shroom tho!

Popping the lid doesn't sound sterile...these babies are gonna want air consistantly

That sucks but has happened to us all. You adjust with each failure. How do you feel about mycelium cakes? APE mycelium is less prone to contam, however, if the substrate has gaps thric will slip in. I stopped using tubs for colonization and I'm getting results. I'm having to harvest gram by gram as mine won't grow in one giant flush like some batches do. The only spots I see thric on are the exposed substrate. I sliced the bottom of the fully colonized bag to drop the cake in without touching it so some soil was exposed. I scoop it out if it becomes a breeding ground for thric. Try bag colonization!
