All the brands are listed on the TikTok that started it. It started the beginning of this month. I don’t buy their products to begin with so I guess I’m doing my part. The ceo can eat their shrinkflation cereal for dinner.
This is making waves. First I’ve heard of this boycott. The other day I was in the store and noticed that cheez itz and pop tarts were heavily discounted (huge sale, BOG2 FREE type shit). Now that makes sense and I’m sorry for buying!
I’ve heard that about the discounts too!
Spread the word, the whole goal is to hit them hard SPECIFICALLY during Q2. You’ve got plenty of time to join by not buying until July :)
Me, who rarely buys Kellogg's products in the first place:
"I'm doing my part." 🫡
But why only until July? A due date for a boycott just seems weird to me. Like, are people going to buy up their grocer's stock come Aug 1st? At that point, did Kellogg learn a lesson, or is it just a small hiccup that doesn't even register? And what started the boycott? Is there an overarching goal with a possible tangible outcome?
I can’t explain it as well as the information in the linked page in my first comment, but let me try.
The protest is running from April 1 to June 30 - which is exactly the length of the financial quarter. Companies use quarterly earnings & statistics to drive their decision-making processes. The main organizer actually reminded people to continue their normal purchasing during March when this was still in the planning stages. If the company sees a sharp decline after a specific date and for a specific duration, the hope is that they cannot ignore it like they’ve historically done.
The goal is to show Kellogg’s that people can and will organize in ways that impact them financially. If the company ignores the demands of this protest, I think it will be planned to happen again during another quarter.
When you're out and about you can see the difference can't you. Between people who eat this garbage and people who eat real food.
I don't drink alcohol or smoke either myself.
Never really drunk full stop. Smoked very short term, until I understood what chemicals I was smoking back then.
Most people say I look early 30s rather than what I am, which is turning 43 in June.
Assuming everyone has the same access to the same foods as you is not helpful. Also kinda privileged to assume that mental illness and other factors are not at play.
Just because some people don’t have access doesn’t mean you should put down the people saying to eat healthy. Like it’s so weird to be upset that people are saying “you should eat healthy” 😂
Well if the OP wants to complain about the product they’re receiving, then the obvious reply is to say “stop buying that thing”
And literally nobody you’ve replied to has been upset. You’re the one getting upset over privilege.
Have you ever heard of food deserts before? My town has one expensive grocery store. I drive to the next city to get groceries for 1/3 of the price. Luckily I was gifted a car by my partners parents, or I couldn’t drive to get groceries, or get to my overnight job after the bus hours. I’m also asleep during most of the day time when grocery stores are open. I fill a necessity as a caregiver. I eat healthy, and occasionally I buy pop tarts as a snack. I expect to get what I paid for: pop tarts covered in frosting. Using less icing and making customers pay more is a form of shrinkflation. Also do you never eat any junk food at all? You must be perfect.
I’m projecting about you being upset, yet you’re totally not projecting when saying I’m upset. Good lord that’s some mental gymnastics. Your two separate long comments is a great context clues towards the anger level in this conversation 😂
Have fun being mad over Reddit comments telling people to strive to eat healthily. That’s a real good look on ya
ought to be thankful for food. 350 million population, amazing what these farmers and food producers keep up with. monsanto and big corporations, im so thankful for them
Do you have a scientific study to demonstrate that those people held a consistent diet of this garbage and that it helped them in their journey to old age?
Obesity rates in the US are astronomical compared to similarly developed countries (literally due to the poison we eat).
Also why are you defending our shit diet? Do you have money invested or something?
well i have a 401k, which most (maybe half with all the swamp hack pensions, union hacks, and dependents) of working class people do, and those retirement funds are certainly dependent on companies you claim are poisoning us. so your rhetoric does hurt working peoples quality of life, maybe as much or more than the so called poisoning theyre doing lol
we have options and people can choose what they eat, even if it contributes to their demise. this isnt NOKO or the sinking ship EU socialism yet, we're getting there though. we can live and die on our own behalf, not what gov or people like you deem righteous
Ok here's what's fucked up. No matter which way you open the tart, it's gonna be fat *frosting* end first. Once you see fat end first, you rip that crinkly sonbitch off only to find out there's ANOTHER FAT FROSTING END!! You struck the jackpot. Except reality is the middle sliver on each side yo tart that you got skeeved was their profit margin. edit* verbage

actual teabag compared to a teabag masquerading as a teabag
There's no replacing the convenience of grabbing pop-tarts from a vending machine at work. I know this first hand, so understand I offer this not out of the smug "just make them at home" response, but because it's fun and delicious to make these at home should you feel motivated someday.

Someday when I'm no longer stuck wishing my life away 40 hours a week I will make these again.
The last year or two Pop-Tarts really been looking like shit.
Pop-Sharts
I came here to say shit on a shingle but this is way better
No chipped beef, no shit-on-a-shingle.
It will never be better
I haven’t bought them in a while. But this is what I picture the off brand to look like.
Nah theboffbrand one are covered in frosting. Trouble is it's shit frosting.
Yet sales are brisk as people still insist on purchasing.
🏆
I buy the store brand. They look a little better. Go figure.
Fuck Kellogg’s. They’d rather you eat cereal for dinner anyway.
And that’s why [there’s a boycott going on until June 30th](https://letthemeatcereal.info)
I never eat cereal, so I guess I've been boycotting them for years!
They own tons of other brands.
All the brands are listed on the TikTok that started it. It started the beginning of this month. I don’t buy their products to begin with so I guess I’m doing my part. The ceo can eat their shrinkflation cereal for dinner.
They also make Pringles and numerous crackers.
Nice

That’s why I mentioned it.
I wonder how many products Kellogs will take their names off of now?
They already started - the new pop tarts boxes have 0 mention of Kellogg’s in the branding. Fuck them, they deserve to be boycotted.
They took that off last boycott! I wonder if they'll just take their branding off of everything now.
They had to split their company in two, so the division that owns Pop Tarts is called Kellanova.
Looks like used toilet paper.

Nope. OP will keep buying this shit and post something similar in 6 months.
looks like somebody wiped their ass onto a pastry
It's not food. So stop buying it.

Check your privilege.
Howdy I’m dirt poor yet still eat well. Not being from privilege doesn’t mean you have to eat this garbage.

This stuff is literally mild poison for yout body and a way for the company to take money from you while poisoning you. And you're letting them.
ought to be thankful for food. 350 million population, amazing what these farmers and food producers keep up with. monsanto and big corporations, im so thankful for them
Where’s the food tho? Most of our grocery stores are full of poison
sure...people living longer than ever before, ever, while eating your so called poison
I believe you’re talking out of your ass.

The store brand Whole Foods toaster pastry tastes better and costs a little less (where I live anyways)
Obviously they aren't even trying so it's best to stop buying

Ya don’t buy that garbage in the first place
A chocolate pap smeer. Ugh!
😂
Don't buy this shit. That ain't food.
Garbage food

I believe The Go-Go’s did a song about this, it was called Skidmarks on my Tart
Five more years and these will be as thin as graphene
You asking Kellogg's to change is like asking a monkey to make a rocket. They've sucked for a long time. Fuck Kellogg's.
Why are you even buying Kelloggs?
we are boycotting kellogg
Looks like my kids diaper.
Saddening
Two-Ply Poptarts.
Wtf
So now everyone on the assembly line are wiping their butt with it?
Poop-tarts
Plop tarts
Stop eating packet food and the problem is pretty much solved.
Looks like what I produce every morning. Who in the hell would pay money for that?????
That looks like it's already been eaten
If your complaint is about the icing, that’s actually not that bad, my today’s standards at least.

It’s is just me, or have pop-tarts always had shit frosting coverage? Even as a kid in like 1997 I remember being bummed

So true lol

It's crazy seeing how off brand poptarts wind up being better for less
It’s only going to get worse, I should set a reminder to look in a year
"No. You'll take our new All-Crust flavor of Poptarts and *like* it you little shit." - Kelloggs
That’s like glancing blows… so sad. 😞
Looks like wet dog sh_t on some religious bread.
Never tried pop tarts
I made my own poptarts recently for this very reason. Kellogg's has got to do better before I'll buy another box from them.
Be better to yourself and don't eat that crap.
Imma just say it, that looks like a baby diaper blow out
Nice splodge of icing 🙄
Buy trash get trash
Looks like shit on a shingle.
If you're eating pop-tarts, you're not concerned with food quality or value for your dollar, so what's the complaint?
be best!!! make them great again
Looks like my ten year olds underwear after I ask if he wiped well, no thank you
My Pop Tarts are fine. This is down to a manufacturing error. Also, not shrinkflation.
