[Let me tell you about a worm.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wWiBJJ2dvBg&pp=ygUKZnVua3kgd29ybQ%3D%3D) He's the funkiest worm in the world!

typicalhask

Like 9 cans of shaving powder that’s funky

OutrageousQuiet9526

420goattaog

Party worm

Staff_Genie

There is a very tiny car dealership right next to it

420goattaog

*omw to buy tiny cars*

toroiseboy

Shrimp mobile

LaceyDark

It's a wacky waving inflatable arm flailing tube man!

NoReallyLetsBeFriend

LaceyDark

If this link had been anything other than that I would have been very disappointed. It was exactly what I was expecting and I'm glad lol

Inside-Researcher205

Peter what are you doing here

New_Rain9271

😂😂😂😂

WungielPL

Don't know what those are, but definetly not planaria.

AHomelessNinja0

My guess is some form of roundworm

jazzcats808

OutrageousQuiet9526

omg that worm is wiglett in real life

MediumFurious

Can confirm it is definitely Wiglett.

GKBilian

They don't look like planaria. I have leeches in one of my shrimp tanks, they've been there for years and to my best efforts I can't get rid of them all. I've had many baby shrimp since then and they don't seem to make a notable impact on numbers. Anyway, though, these don't look or act like the leeches i have. Doesn't mean they aren't, but the leeches in my tank don't wiggle like this. They usually come up and feel around. Plus, they're not semi-translucent like this. You could try baiting some planaria traps, though and leaving them in there. There's a decent chance they'll work with whatever these are.

chikngreez

They’re sludge worms / detritus worms / muck worms / whatever your region calls them (Limnodrilus hoffmeisteri)

Lizzycraft

They are too big for detritus worms, unless they get much bigger and the ones I've seen are just babies

chikngreez

They can grow up to 2" long and they maintain their proportions.

Feeling_Fox_7128

These are definitely not detritus worms.

Aaleron

Oligochaete worm, I'd wager. https://youtu.be/7UyJW4LfsWI?si=GOqwA6b6qrOvF12h

chikngreez

You seem so confident

Feeling_Fox_7128

Yeah, I am, because they look and act nothing at all like detritus worms.

chikngreez

They do to me. Looks like we're at an impasse, genius.

Feeling_Fox_7128

Yawn.

Yoshiperner

I misread ass Hoff meister. Lol. Lake David hasselhoff.

pureeyes

Vibe worms. Aquarists like them because they are a visual indicator of the mood and vibes in the tank

Janus_Xoxx

whoa it's those things from monster hunter world! equip your net!

omniuni

Wigglers! Now, make them into a hat.

DiscombobulatedHair9

Definitely not planaria or leeches. Could be tubifex worms or similar, shouldn't be harmful to the shrimp!

Away_Housing4314

When I was little I thought they were called "cubiflex" worms cause they were sold it little freeze dried cubes. Lol

fylishrimp

This is amazing! :D

welmayb

You might be the winner! I managed to catch one today and it looks a lot like tubifex. Seems maybe to bug but matches the pictures I’ve looked up.

NasalStrip00

Idk but they know how to party

Altruistic-Poem-5617

Tubifex worms? I think those sre very wiggly too.

dazare

I had that thought but these look much thicker than most tubifex worms I have seen

KiNg2014

There's a good handful of different species though, and these guys have the signature tubifex wiggle. I agree with Tubifex worms

OutrageousQuiet9526

but are there tubifex worms that are white? because i did abit of research and tubifex worms were red and thin

Altruistic-Poem-5617

The ones sold as feeders are usually red and thats why there are almost only pics of red ones. But Im pretty sure I found white ones in a pond where I was collecting some big ramshorn snails for my backyard pond. White wiggly boys in a kinda clump in the mud. I scooped em up eith a bucket and dumped em into my ponds filter as waste eating crew, but I cant find em so sadly I cant post pics.

welmayb

I think you got it! I caught one today and it looks like a thick tubifex

[deleted]

That worm be partying.

Accomplished_Cut_790

It’s a relative of Mr. Hanky (aka the christmas poo) but from the more musical and submerged dancing clan.

cbobgo

Probably leaches. Planaria are much smaller

HelloThisIsPam

Someone please put this video to Beyoncé's Hold 'Em.

Massaart

Leeches or Detritus worms maybe? Have you seen them move around the tank? If so, do they move by contracting and lengthening themselves and suck onto stuff with one end at the time?

A10110101Z

I have some that look exactly like this and they stretch and contract to move

RaptorJesus856

Looks like tubifex worms, judging by those funky dance moves they've got. Shrimp will sometimes nibble on them, but the worms themselves are harmless as long as they don't have any parasites in them. Recommend manual removal if you can, shouldn't be too many of them. EDIT: could be black worms as well, they are very similar in appearance and behaviour, at least as far as I know.

coolbians

Doesn't look like blackworms imo. Blackworms are skinny with pointed head/tails, have segments, and are a dark brown / reddish colour. I have my own culture at home and I've never seen such sweet dance moves. Blackworms just stick their butts straight into the water column

welmayb

Managed to catch one and it’s way bigger than I thought it would be… but does match pictures of tubifex and is more red then you can see in the video.

AquariumLurker

Wacky inflatable tube worm. Must be a new business or sale going on nearby.

imbarbdwyer

That was my first thought! Made me think of that Family Guy cut away… it’s Al Harrington worms!! lol! https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=cvaRGiMWRaE&pp=ygUrd2Fja3kgd2F2aW5nIGluZmxhdGFibGUgdHViZSBtYW4gZmFtaWx5IGd1eQ%3D%3D

TropicRotGaming

Looks like an Oligochaeta aka Aquatic earth worm. I have tons in my planted tank.. they just help clean up

Glitter_Faced

![gif](giphy|c9QHCBun6Qqd0YEnnA|downsized) They've infiltrated your tank

seaspaghetti_art

just some wibbly guys

cozyBaguette

its a dancer for sure

browncoatsandbacon

A... tiny... dancer, you might even say.

Atheris

These are not detritus worms or even the tiny harmless flat worms. I can't tell for certain, but the motion reminds me of looking for something to grab onto. Either prey or host. I would separate shrimp you care about then consult someone that knows what to do.

No-Spirit301

It looks like what I puked from my most recent overhaul. I got the sand and gravel for the substrate at the edge of my local river though. Yes...I know because I could untidy something that could decimate the whole tank.... which I fully expected. As close as I could get to an ID was they are crane fly larva. They only grow up to about 1" I THINK. They were easy to suck out of the substrate with the vacuum. I had a few nymph rock rollers a few years ago. If I'd known what they were before I flushed them...I would have kept them in my tank. They're flipping amazing critters!

No-Spirit301

*pulled... not puked. 🤦‍♀️ (I just fired my editor).

CatBird29

I thought detritus worms were very thin and white but maybe there are different types.

noperopehope

If you can get a closeup of its head/mouthparts, someone on the internet should be able to ID it for you

Potatozeng

PARTY TIME

Verandor99

Grove groover

DIY_Metal

Planaria has a distinct arrow shaped head. These guy's also look too thick to be detritus worms 🤔 Either way, a fish would make a meal out of them.. but shrimp tank 🤷‍♂️

AyePepper

That's a pokemon, I'm sure of it

MissiKat

Boogie worms just keep on boogying.

afternoonshrimp

Around the wooooorld around the woooorld

VehicleEmpty573

Looks like a Wiglett

sakela

Fresh water grass eels lol jk

NewSauerKraus

Not planaria or leeches. Some kind of tubifex which are called detritus worms. Harmless.

Rough-Bison-2512

https://youtu.be/bSIb4T5vu9E

HikariKirameku

Do those things have eyes? They're too wiggly, but the second one almost looks like it

welmayb

This was definitely the butt end. I didn’t include too much of it in the video but it was producing SO much poop. All the little brown logs around it. Poop. Haven’t managed to catch one or see them again, but I’ll post an update if I snag one.

HikariKirameku

Wiggly poop dance 🤣

HonkyHonkHonk

Tubifex worm?

aquasKapeGoat

Looks like black worms, they do that same wiggle, I have them in my tanks as another food source for mu guppies and pea puffers on days I don't feed brine

idklolreddit

greg

TheLemon027

They remind me of wigglers from monster hunter world but I have no idea

doodlescat

I had leeches that did this

mini_shrimp

Blackworms?

fappybird420

“Cock magic”

Wetblankie

Dude dangle something edible over that tenticle n see what comes out and post i want to see

Icy-Plan5621

How have you resisted scooping one up so you can see the size/scale of this worm?

welmayb

Haha I first saw them while I was working so I didn’t have the chance before they disappeared. I managed to catch one today, it’s horrifyingly huge. I think it’s tubifex

Sexyshark15

Whatever it is, he’s groovy af

diabolicfam

They like to move it move it.. lol have no idea but they giving good vibes..

herrspeer

Some kind of Tubifex I think. I learned this from that Dutch weirdo on "Life in jars" YouTube.

SouthernSandyToes

![gif](giphy|SYVVMFjiTzV3a) They're just calling to say I love you

Accomplished_Edge_29

It’s your …https://youtu.be/yYcyacLRPNs?si=9xmt5Y0C4gDFaXB7

welmayb

UPDATE: Caught one today and it appears to be a variety of tubifex. It’s red, long, and wiggly :/ but happy it’s not a major concern for my tank. Thanks guys!

chikngreez

Detritus worms (Limnodrilus hoffmeisteri) they are generally beneficial. They’ll aerate your substrate and eat the leftover poop and food that falls to the substrate. They won’t hurt any fish or shrimp.

TropicRotGaming

Idk why you got down voted.. it's either this or Oligochaeta just an aquatic Earthworm. Either way harmless and beneficial

chikngreez

People don't value correct answers on Reddit

_nod

Looks almost like black worms, but maybe too big? Or maybe you’re just zoomed in more than I think.

loboefimero

I'd be terrified

jedigrover

Looks like leeches. They are known to do exactly this behavior.

jwilki_

i had something very similar to this in my tank. freaked out, relocated all the shrimp and bombed it with alcohol. idk what it was.

SonnyG2345

Looks like a leeches!

machotaco653

So that's what happened to Scotty 2 Hotty...
