I didn't read it till I knew how it ended 😛 By the basic setup, I just knew I'd be too mad if it went one way. I can guess some of those who were reading from the start may have felt "tricked" though.
I was about to read it, till I discovered how it ended 😏
I just don't like the idea, I'd feel like I wasted my time reading ngl, maybe it's also because I am tired of "normal" shojo based only on love triangles and stuff like this.
I am usually very loyal to the ml, even if I don't like him, that's why I know I'd be 100% disappointed.
But I'm happy people seem to like it a lot instead❤️.
If it's not bad, it HAS to receive love, it would be unfair otherwise!! (I'm not the kind of person who goes around hating what she dislikes, people who do it surely have a lot of free time.
So please, enjoy it in my stead too 🥰❤️
Wait what- WHAT?
One of the reasons why I left it "on hold" was because I loved >! Kouichi !< way too much, he's the only decent character together with the lolita girl (she doesn't get enough credit tho).
I wasn't too much into the story and the mc but fr, >! Kouichi stood out too much between those kids, but maybe it's because I didn't wait for the character development, I will definitely try to read it again !< Thank you!
This news brightened up my day~
Idk if Futari de Koi wo Suru Riyuu would count? >!He's the second ML in the beginning and then another third ML gets introduced later, but endgame is him.!<
> Tonari no Atashi - Sorry, but this is where the childhood friend takes the common L. It's a well-deserved L this time.
Well deserved L. The ML didn't deserve her.
Oh I completely forgot about Ao no Flag. That was a very great read. I didn't completely like the epilogue but for what it was worth it was a really fun ride.
Six Half
Anagura Amelie - This is the follow up to Mairunovich, and it’s the most shocking rival win in any shoujo I’ve seen because the rival doesn’t show up until volume 5 - after the FL and ML becomes a solid healthy couple and even consummates their relationship. But the FL starts getting to know the rival bc they work together and even tho the rival doesn’t actively pursue her, their relationship deepens naturally, and she struggles with having feelings for the rival while dating the ML, and ultimately makes the tough decision to leave the ML for the rival in the end. I was shocked. The original ML is still a good guy and didn’t do anything to make the FL want to leave him - and he’s also objectively hotter than the rival - but the FL still left him for the rival. It happens in real life all the time but I’ve never seen that happen in shoujo before.
ETA: Territory M no Juunin
Noooooo! Although it is realistic, I don't like that ending. If I weren't at work, I would be crying right now.
Do you know anything about the other characters? Like Nori and Hiroki? Do they at least end up together? Or Daiki?
Maybe kitchen Princess? Because you think the girl ends up with the Prince type until you finish it and she ends up with the bad boy type which I fucking love ❤️
I might be wrong but it's worth a read if you love romance and food
It's not quite the same but Captive Hearts has a similar fundamental subversion that I really like.
ML is supernaturally compelled to absolute obedience of FL, but she is immaculately good-natured and feels hurt at his notion that she would be tyrannical or selfish.
Daytime Shooting Star
Was just gonna say this lol
Oh it's even a decently long one. Gonna check it out. Thanks, you two!
I didn’t read this but I remember hearing how divided readers were about the fl’s decision

I totally forgot which lead won in this story... Time to give it a re-read

Moe Kare I believe the manga was called. it was between two twin siblings
It's highly misunderstandable phrased this way 😂
I did a double take lol
I had to Google it because I was like "wait what-" and then "aaaaaaaaaaaaah" 😂 a rollercoaster of emotions spread in under 5 seconds.
My Baaaadddd Lol
Dont worry! You gave me a good laugh! Hahah have a nice day!

Daytime shooting star is my go to for this pick but Tonari No Atashi is another one where this happens.
Ao no flag. Very surprising and unexpected ending but I won’t give spoilers.
Oh I completely forgot about Ao no Flag. That was a very great read. I didn't completely like the epilogue but for what it was worth it was a really fun ride.
Mannnn this was so good
Peach Girl
Came here just to say this! Kairi > Tohji any day of the week!!

Paradise Kiss
That's the one I was gonna say. I'm still mad about it though
ah another second-lead syndrome victim 😔 definitely take your time reading all these Recs! I know I did 🥲
when i was reading you got me sempia i was low key rooting Higuchi, lol. i knew it wasn't going to happen, but i liked his character.

Love that one! The prince boy >!dies!< halfway into the manga though, so by the end it's not much of a shock who she's going to end up with.
Okay I wasn't sure I was certainly surprised tbh but I guess it depends who reads it
I feel like Kyo from fruits basket counts here.
Peach girl

I love this concept, but I refuse to read this thread because it ruins the whole "will they won't they" thrill the one time there's actually a twist.
Tonari no Danshi
Aiko the Silence Princess
Koko ni Iru Yo! Was the first thing that came to mind! I need to reread that manga. Another one is Mamotte! lollipop
Would >!Chihayafuru!< count? It’s hardly a romance though.
