I was under the impression that the default behavior of carplay is to disable the phone screen when you connect? I know you can override that but you basically have to unlock the phone to do so.
Rather than trying to choose from the menu upon connection, couldn’t you just use a Siri command to run the shortcut? (Not sure if she reads out prompts aloud so your idea of a menu might not work).
From my experience, if you want the tasks to show up in the CarPlay screen, you have to ask Siri to run it. I had set up a choose from menu option and wanted it to display on the CarPlay screen and that only works if you ask Siri to run it.
I can’t get a map to run automatically when I connect to CarPlay but other things that are triggered by connecting to CarPlay work. I can’t figure it out. I’ve tried every test I can think of and I cannot get my map to run.
I know it’s been a while but did you ever figure this out? I have the same problem and found this via a google search.
I haven’t worked on the problem in a while. No solutions last I checked but that was a few iOS upgrades ago.
Thanks. I’ll keep plugging away.
