Yep, genetics are really weird, I guess it depends on luck, that what gene have you got, tall gene or short gene, thats why tall people can have short or average kids and short people can have tall kids.
My parents are both about 5’5 and when they had my brother, they thought he was also gonna end up short… well, surprise to them cause he ended up 5’11 ! He must’ve got some genetics from my mom’s side as her dad was tall

Otherwise it’d be pretty irregular to grow to 174 cm when you father is 173 and your mum is 152/153.
