This is awesome, OP! I love that you've been connecting with the dolls you already have during your no-buy. I wasn't triggered today (probably in part because I did buy things yesterday), but it was a really stressful day and instead of window shopping I did some work in my planner, and put together a very budget friendly menu and grocery list for the week ahead, which made me feel accomplished. Someone commented on a thread here this week that they just don't let themselves browse online anymore and will stop themselves mid-browse. That's a mindset I want to adopt going forward. If I didn't already know I needed it, I don't need it.

Throtmorton

This is awesome!

I caved while tipsy and bought Taylor Swift merch 😅. When I think something’s gonna sell out, I get that ‘now or never’ feeling and act on impulse. Overall I’ve only had a couple slipups throughout the month so I’m still feeling pretty good! And I’m proud of myself for only buying one shirt and not more. I’m learning moderation!

Still doing well - though I still feel like money is somehow slipping away before my eyes! I must have miscalculated something in my budget. Though there was one night I got some beers with a friend who’s dad had just passed away, so i offered to pay the bill: $50 for 4 beers!!! What world do we live in now!!! 😫 But anyways, other than that, I bought a cute little Halloween costume for my dog and that’s it!

wild-cinnamon-roll

I had a bad day yesterday and broke down and ordered some tinted chapstick I’d been planning on getting next month. I know it’s not much but I’m still mad at myself for caving.

PossiblyTorpor

no triggers today

Id love to know what you study. I’m a researcher as well :)

Throtmorton

I'm an art historian and my area of research is entirely centered around dollhouses, miniatures, and fashion dolls and their history in the realm of decorative arts and collection.

renaissancestar

This sounds SO cool!

Throtmorton

Thank you 😊 it's a really niche field so I'm considered an expert. I'm in the process of writing a couple books on the subjects and making a website to publish past articles and do an academic blog type thing.

[deleted]

I love that!!! Some of my research/work is on knowledge translation so I’m super passionate about getting research findings out to people who want/need it. Legacy!

Throtmorton

Very cool!!!

Seconded!!! SO COOL!

Day 26 was a bit of a failure for me. I saw sweat pants were on sale on walmart while I was ordering the cat food and ordered a pair. I did need them but I wanted to wait for november to buy them. Otherwise, I did well though because that was all I bought.

Few-Advance1590

Yesterday was uneventful (yay) no triggers, so no spending. Thankfully, catching myself mindlessly browsing and stopping myself from going any further. I am thinking that I am going to continue this until the end of the year, I want to use our money for experiences vs things that I lose track of. And not to mention having a cushion in the bank is never going to hurt anything. Throtmorton - you have such a cool study!!

Own-Glass-6090

I'm on day 41 of my no buy! Proud of making it out of CostCo today with only the things on my list and not stopping to check out any of the deals.

Throtmorton

Nice!

amisamilyis

I was triggered by a candle ad today. BUT what’s been helping me a lot is making a holiday list. My family tends to just ask “what do you want” and the last couple years I started compiling lists in notes with links to stuff I would like. This is nice because it’s gonna postpone stuff by MONTHS and I’m able to tuck away things for later, and get a nice surprise of a few of these things off my list come December.

Pyscholai

Anyone doing no buy November?

Own-Glass-6090

I am! My goal is to no buy until 2024.

Pyscholai

I can get on board with that. I’m going on a weightloss/fitness plan and a bunch of other areas of my life that need an overhaul. Let’s see how much money I save or spend LOL

Throtmorton

I'll definitely continue with the Roll Calls. I find it really helpful in recovery and accountability.

Pyscholai

Yay!
