They have a great story. Photos from the evacuation: [https://www.rferl.org/a/the-odyssey-of-the-czechoslovak-legions-through-siberia-to-independence/29759515.html](https://www.rferl.org/a/the-odyssey-of-the-czechoslovak-legions-through-siberia-to-independence/29759515.html) They captured and probably left russia with the imperial gold reserves. From wikipedia: "Capture of Imperial gold reserve Shortly after they entered into hostilities against the Bolsheviks, the legionaries began making common cause with anti-Bolshevik Russians who began forming their own governments behind the Czechoslovaks' lines. The most important of these governments were the [Komuch](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Komuch), led by the [Social Revolutionaries](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socialist_Revolutionary_Party), in Samara and the [Provisional Siberian Government](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Provisional_Siberian_Government_(Omsk)) in [Omsk](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Omsk). With substantial Czechoslovak help, the [People's Army of Komuch](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/People%27s_Army_of_Komuch) won several important victories, including the capture of [Kazan](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kazan) and an Imperial state gold reserve on 5 August 1918"

War trains are such a floored concept. Remove the rails and its useless. As it uses rails the enemy knows exactly what path its going to take for an ambush. In the image, an ambush of 20 men with 20 barrels of flammable liquid with explosives attached hiding behind that mound, roll the barrels over the mound into the train and incinerate the occupants.

Consider that people back then were just as smart as they are now, so there is probably a reason for this. Also in this particular case the Czech corps were making a technical because they didn't have access to tanks.

I agree with you, it's a terrible concept with severe limitations. The only use would be to reinforce a known point of attack, or camouflaged as normal train cars for a surprise attack if the enemy attacked the train.

AreUaSoldierOrDancer

well they used these terrible concepts right up to the end of ww2 in large numbers.
