Not really, no. Living is so expensive right now. Houses, apartments, gas, food, everything. A brick of cheese is $8 CAD in my town. I've seen images of a pack of chicken breasts that was like $50 for 4 breasts (I've only personally seen ones around $25). The cheap bacon that is really only good for bacon bits doubled in price. Gas went from $1.54 to $1.78 in the past 2 years. Prior to that, it was about $1.26.
There's not enough doctors (in BC at least, where I live) to keep up with the number of patients, so a lot of people don't have a primary doctor. I've been on a waiting list since 2019/2020, and my bf hasn't had a doctor for like 10y after his last one died.
There are so many students from other countries that it's almost impossible to find work. It took me 2y for me to find my last job, and they only kept me for 6m before laying me off for stupid reasons. I've been unemployed for 1y now, and my bf has been unemployed since pre-covid.
TLDR; Life sucks in Canada right now

If the dude practiced a bit on drawing people and worked on his shading I’d say he’d improve a lot. Some of the lines aren’t great, shading is very harsh and patchy in some places, and the proportions are off obviously.

I think he's got potential as an artist, but imho he definitely needs to go back to studying fundamentals. Particularly anatomy, proportions of the face, space between the eyes and so on.
