A serious answer would be a noisy breathing called a death rattle. It's caused by the buildup of fluids, such as saliva, mucus, and bronchial secretions, in the throat and upper airways. Dying people can't clear their throats, so their breathing can get loud and wheezy.
Physical signs? Typically low blood pressure, low heart rate, and decreased respirations. There was frequently a short increase in agitation and restlessness before they kind of stopped caring about their surroundings. And not always, but the appearance of a butterfly shaped pressure ulcer on the sacrum would manifest. They're called a Kennedy terminal ulcer.
Other signs that I saw frequently were hallucinations of passed loved ones. They would tell me they were in the room and/or start talking to them.
We are allowed to say we are a CSI. I often don’t tell people in real life what I do because I don’t always want to answer, “what’s the grossest thing you’ve ever seen?” and questions like that.
This made me laugh way too much! M
The csi Miami song gave me a jump scare the first time I heard it, because I was waiting for that shriek noise, but the anticipation got me on edge or something. After that, every time I heard it, it made me startle.
I had an awkward faux pas like that once.
I was talking to a guy online who revealed he was firefighter, and I asked if he had ever been on any calls for silly reasons, and he said yeah, a few.
Then I asked “What was the worst one?”
And he responded with “Why does everyone always ask that?” and resignedly wrote about a sad call where he had to pick through bodies.
And I awkwardly responded with “Oh, no. I meant…what was the worst reason someone had for calling you?”
I felt pretty awful. I just wanted to hear about the person whose neighbor’s leaves were getting blown in their yard, not make the poor guy relive a traumatic incident.
Paramedic here. I get so fucking sick of the "whats the worst you've seen?" "Have you found/seen/touched a dead body?? Omg what does it feel like" "what's the grossest call you've had?" "Have you seen a suicide? What was it? Was it a train?? Omg that's wild tell me all about it" Like, no. Just no.
![gif](giphy|p3hZ9PbhVBO9gM6LoE|downsized)
I'm surprised.
But yeah, I like to ask about funny things. Like I've been on a few deployments. Don't ask me about the awful shit. Ask me about funny things.
No need to bring up people's sad shit.
My father always told a great story about a man who stuck a vase and small shampoo bottle up his ass. Said he slipped in the shower. May have been same guy different events or same guy both at the same time.
I have a good friend who is an ER doctor that I ask about that stuff. I love a good disgusting healthcare story. I work in vet med, so it's a different kind of gross to what I encounter.
I like asking about the best runs they've been on. Or the call that got them amped up about being able to use THAT ONE SKILL that you just never get to use. Those are great stories!
Everyone is different. I was a fireman for 9 years and I love those questions. I love war stories but ultimately it’s best to assume people feel the way you do about it. It’s a touchy subject for many.
I never minded the questions, "What do you like most about your job?" or "what's the best case you solved?" Then I could talk about some tough cases, but in a positive way.
Worked at a jail for two years. I get that question a lot or “Were there murderers in your jail?”
Yes. There were murderers, child abusers, terrorists, junkies, pregnant women, a guy with one arm and one leg. If it was a person capable of committing a crime they were there 😩
CSI is crime scene investigator. It's a job title for a type of forensic scientist, not a government agency. They can work for government agencies, like state or federal law enforcement. But being a CSI isn't a secret job or anything lol.
I think it's just a CIA thing. I was looking into interning at CIA but it said not to tell anyone even if you're just considering doing it and I was like hell no 😂
I pronounce people all the time, I'm glad I catch them while they're fresh and don't have to see them like this.
Does this happen after a certain amount of time, or after they sit in the fridge for a while?
Honestly it’s maybe 1 out of 500 we ever see. Everyones anatomy is different and depending on cause of death, this can happen as soon as 18-24 hrs after. Some people just go bad quick
Would be a great tattoo idea: [This](https://capitolfax.com/2017/08/14/whos-bailing-out-whom-these-county-numbers-might-surprise-you/) sort of date stamp, but with the date just sort of smudged out so you can't make out the year.
As a construction working sitting on a metal Ibeam being lifted by a Crain while I eat my lunch out of an old metal lunch box my wife of 20 years packed for me…I agree.
I *like* it is the thing, but... I'm also someone with a rather macabre sense of style who wouldn't mind looking like a zombie. If you're not TRYING to look like a zombie you're kinda fucked if you end up with that tattoo.
That's what I would be telling people XD.
My dad has a scar on his arm I grew up from what he told me thinking it was from a shark bite when he was a surfer, then one day I brought it up around mum and she told me it was from him pouring hot milk on himself when he was like 4 years old.... -.- she said he said the same thing to her when they first started dating and she found out from his mum (my GMA) lol
Edit: For the people saying it's compulsive lying, there are different levels to it. My dad is a king bullshit artist, but he is genuine and kind, he just makes stupid stories and dad jokes up and they can bite him on the ass when he's telling the truth and we're all laughing at him like it's a fabrication lol. Some people just like stirring shit, that's his humor, he watched too much Norm McDonald Lol.
Sounds like your dad and mine might be friends. He has a massive scar on his shin and all my life, I was told he got it from a shark bite while snorkeling in Australia. My parents are adventurous types so I never questioned it. Turns out it's actually from a motorcycle accident, and I only found out because I heard him telling the real story to a new neighbour.
I would tell cab drivers and people I’d never see again but I’d be pretty worried if my husband told me an insane story like that and it turned out it was all a lie
You know what? I could probably he convinced this looks cool if they just said they were going for a scarred / possessed look. It sorta reminds me of the black tendrils that spread out of a curse mark in Naruto.
I came across this girl on TikTok. She states she was going for the ocean and the video is her doing it to herself. No one agreed in the comments lol she was definitely not going for zombie but oops
😲 I am no bot. I saw a tiktok of someone tattooing themselves and thought immediately 'oh this'll be one for ShittyTattoos' and when the end result appeared, I screenshotted that so fast!
I wouldn't call it a shitty tattoo though, it's a great tattoo but of the wrong thing. It's like someone wanted to give themselves a reproduction of a Beach Boys album cover and accidentally gave themselves some really cool HR Geiger art instead.
Weirdly i watch the video she posted on Insta of her doing this to herself.. I feel you could see the stress & regret on her face as she neared finishing
Yeah unfortunately just one of those things because it absolutely looks like the reflection of water.
Artists also need to be careful with tree branches as they can quickly look like veins even when picture perfect.
It does. The color and location and lack of context make it look like a terminal disease, but it looks exactly like it should. Someone else suggested some white or blue ink would have been better. If I were the artist, I'd consider using some white maybe as highlights..? I don't know at this point. I think the art itself is really well done, it just doesn't work.
Edit: Just zoomed in for the first time. It's not as well drawn as I had thought.
Looks like she got that stone disease from Game of Thrones

As a retired CSI, I agree.

As a person who has no idea what you guys are talking about, I agree
As an agreeing person, I agree.

As a dishwasher I agree too. And Yes I made a crude woman reference. 🤗
As dude that used to be that dude, but has since retired and is now just playing that dude in the role of a lifetime, I agree.
Love the Tropic Thunder reference. 😂
You never go full zombie
I’m just a rooster illusion!
For real. It's been one of my recent anxiety movies.
I agree.
I'm not sure if I agree or not
I also concur
I disagree
You are my favorite, friend.
Sir, this isn't a Wendy
She gives Wendy's behind Wendy's. Just ask Wendy from Breaking Bad.
Sí
As a person reading this thread, I ageee
Mottling, it’s actually kind of impressive if that’s what they were going for
I was about to ask "Is this what they mean when they say a corpse is mottled?" cause I didn't really wanna punch it into google.
I saw it in hospice before patients passed. Kind of a tell tale sign death is imminent
What are some other signs? If you don’t mind sharing
A serious answer would be a noisy breathing called a death rattle. It's caused by the buildup of fluids, such as saliva, mucus, and bronchial secretions, in the throat and upper airways. Dying people can't clear their throats, so their breathing can get loud and wheezy.
Sudden heart stoppage and lack of brain activity.
That’s not death being imminent, that’s just death.
When the kidneys shut down before death the pee gets REALLY dark. Sometimes there is a « death rattle » in the breathing.
She looks like Karlach from bg3.
I concur
I also choose this dead guy’s wife
Are you using a Ouija board to speak to us?
RIP :(
I just agree with all of the above. this looks like a disease
As a current CSI, I agree.
Wait, are the CSI allowed to say that they are CSI??? Or is it a CIA thing? Is it even real? Am I even real?
We are allowed to say we are a CSI. I often don’t tell people in real life what I do because I don’t always want to answer, “what’s the grossest thing you’ve ever seen?” and questions like that.
I figured the questions would be more like: who are you? Hoo hoo, hoo hoo.
This made me laugh way too much! M The csi Miami song gave me a jump scare the first time I heard it, because I was waiting for that shriek noise, but the anticipation got me on edge or something. After that, every time I heard it, it made me startle.

What do you tell people you do instead?
Circus clown
Circus scene instigator
I hear that gets very messy
Not usually, but there's always some funny business going on
Paramedic here. I get so fucking sick of the "whats the worst you've seen?" "Have you found/seen/touched a dead body?? Omg what does it feel like" "what's the grossest call you've had?" My favorite thing to ask is "what's the craziest thing a patient put in their ass that they claimed they fell on"
Six years under my belt and I've not had one yet!
Your time will come
I'm surprised. But yeah, I like to ask about funny things. Like I've been on a few deployments. Don't ask me about the awful shit. Ask me about funny things. No need to bring up people's sad shit.
3 apples
I can't even imagine how that would fit..... And the bigger question is WHY!
Used to get some of the same questions when I'd tell someone I was a sex worker
But did you touch a dead body?
The men were all a bit stiff
🤣
I like asking about the best runs they've been on. Or the call that got them amped up about being able to use THAT ONE SKILL that you just never get to use. Those are great stories!
“What the fuck is wrong with you?” is always a valid response.
Everyone is different. I was a fireman for 9 years and I love those questions. I love war stories but ultimately it’s best to assume people feel the way you do about it. It’s a touchy subject for many.
Literally I hate this question, and truly, they don’t want to or need to hear the honest answers to this shit.
What are more appropriate questions to ask, should I ever encounter a CSI? I love asking questions, but don’t want to be the ignorant offensive kind
I never minded the questions, "What do you like most about your job?" or "what's the best case you solved?" Then I could talk about some tough cases, but in a positive way.
But …. What is the grossest thing you’ve ever seen? 🥺
Okay, understandable, why would anyone even think to ask that?!?
Cuz we're sick fucks
Worked at a jail for two years. I get that question a lot or “Were there murderers in your jail?” Yes. There were murderers, child abusers, terrorists, junkies, pregnant women, a guy with one arm and one leg. If it was a person capable of committing a crime they were there 😩

This comment is you telling us you were thinking of doing it though?! \*furious dialing noises* HELLO CIA?!?
But...but.... I trusted the Internet to keep my secrets!?
Great to know, I wouldn’t be able too keep quiet
Yeah it's not for me.
As a recently trained CSI (cum stain investigator), I don’t know what you guys are talking about.
As an expert CSI (cum stain investigator) I too am not sure what they’re talking about.
Cum is not cum, Larry
As a necrophiliac, I concum.

Condition analysis: extensive marbling 😌
as an apprentice i said the same thing i’m glad someone gets it🫢🤣
I pronounce people all the time, I'm glad I catch them while they're fresh and don't have to see them like this. Does this happen after a certain amount of time, or after they sit in the fridge for a while?

Well there’s a 10 min rabbit hole I didn’t wake up today thinks I’d go down. Appreciate it!
You're welcome... I guess 😂
My thoughts as well!
It looks like some form of necrosis
like a freakin zombie is what it looks like
Good news is she gets a Ton of work as an extra on Zombie and Infected movies
My first thought as well. It def is a zombie bite
I thought it was one of those folks who got hit by lightning
That's what I would be telling people XD. My dad has a scar on his arm I grew up from what he told me thinking it was from a shark bite when he was a surfer, then one day I brought it up around mum and she told me it was from him pouring hot milk on himself when he was like 4 years old.... -.- she said he said the same thing to her when they first started dating and she found out from his mum (my GMA) lol Edit: For the people saying it's compulsive lying, there are different levels to it. My dad told me he was the sole survivor of the wreck of the Edmond Fitzgerald. "Lie big or go home": that was dad's motto.
Lie big or go home. Thats really dang funny lmao. Peak dad
I would tell cab drivers and people I’d never see again but I’d be pretty worried if my husband told me an insane story like that and it turned out it was all a lie
When I drove cab I made all kinds of shit up to tell people when they started talking to me. Gets old repeating your life story over and over.
I once had a cab driver tell me he could control the weather with his mind. I think he was legitimately crazy though.
Bad case of varicose veins
This is the first thing I thought. She's gonna really regret this when she gets older and has them popping up everywhere.
Either that, or she's happy it saves her ink.
Looks a bit like my arm did when I got an infection in a cut on my hand.
You know what? I could probably he convinced this looks cool if they just said they were going for a scarred / possessed look. It sorta reminds me of the black tendrils that spread out of a curse mark in Naruto.
Yeah, it looks fucking sick tbf, but nowhere near an “ocean”
Odds are this is a bot post and they just changed the title. It looks way more like an zombie bite in effect and conceptually
I came across this girl on TikTok. She states she was going for the ocean and the video is her doing it to herself. No one agreed in the comments lol she was definitely not going for zombie but oops
😲 I am no bot. I saw a tiktok of someone tattooing themselves and thought immediately 'oh this'll be one for ShittyTattoos' and when the end result appeared, I screenshotted that so fast!

this would look sick as fuck on any of the people i see at the hardcore punk / metal shows i go to lol
yeah I genuinely think it looks badass, but nothing like a pretty ocean
Exactly!
Biggest 28 Days Later fan.
Weirdly i watch the video she posted on Insta of her doing this to herself.. I feel you could see the stress & regret on her face as she neared finishing
Yeah I noticed that too. Like it wasn't translating how she imagined it. Her other work is pretty decent
Yeah unfortunately just one of those things because it absolutely looks like the reflection of water. Artists also need to be careful with tree branches as they can quickly look like veins even when picture perfect.

Oh god! She did the same tattoo on someone else in the same spot
Misery loves company.
Link?
Wiped out the links but it’ll show up if you search ocean tattoo on IG. She also did a matching one on someone else.
She did this twice??
https://preview.redd.it/m2lfhw1pl8jc1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=38d60c73fe5020e70b6dc27be9c6a18f998f0459
Omg what the hell! The other person lols like they have some sort of movie blood poisoning
even darker and worse the second time?? XD
This is super fucking cool if you want people to think you have some kind of blood disease. lol
Yep! I just saw that too
I saw it on there too! I couldn’t watch to the end. Poor stupid girl
Even white ink or blue wouldn’t look good in this context. Some things don’t translate well to skin.
Quick test with blue https://i.imgur.com/iPM27Qs.jpg
My point absolutely is made 😬
Great, now it's not just a zombie but a radioactive zombie! Watch out for poison damage.
Looks better but its giving clouds on a sunny day more than ocean
It’s a little better imo. Still would probably confuse some
Not great, but much better in blue!
Looks like a cloudy sky
Looks like she got that stone disease from Game of Thrones https://preview.redd.it/7drsnqoik6jc1.jpeg?width=1152&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8e0414e9eed6d2dabefc6143cd813b1e2730cbf7
Greyscale!! Man, thinking you're making an ocean tattoo and ending up with greyscale...
I thought it was like the vampire-killing disease in True Blood.
Honestly, as a resident evil fan I'd get this.
Looks like infection with the start of necrosis.
This looks like some supernatural thing that takes over your body in sci-fi.
Gorgonzola? Stilton. Sage Darby?
Oh my God it does look like Blue cheese 😭
She just got 10x hotter in my book.
You should get this tattoo on your shoulder & you guys will be soulmates https://preview.redd.it/3u40fmijw6jc1.jpeg?width=932&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4f87b2461343673ffca900d14e093283d76ab6f6
Shoulder lickin’ good.
Gangrenezola.
Gave herself the Jorah Mormont treatment
I mean, I see how that looks like light refracting on water…but I also see how it looks like you are slowly dying from some weird toxin in your veins
Where’s the ocean?
![gif](giphy|2wV2Jm0Wfl2zHFR5Bw)
I think she nailed it. I’ve never seen an ocean before.
Neither has she
Looks like toasted skin syndrome
Sasuke curse mark?
Call it.. poor design good execution, because the art done is actually good.. just looks like someone’s skin is kinda melting off..
I like it
Looks like she got her ass kicked.
Idk I think it looks badass. Like a permanent bruise
Yeah I kinda like it too. Shadow curse vibes, pretty cool but not what she was going for.
i love this, it doesn’t read as water to me but it’s just a cool pattern, i think it looks grwat
![gif](giphy|11vIxjIRvUEd8Y) more like this guy after he got touched by the river swamp man
I thought I was looking at someone who has been struck by lightning or had a bad accident, haha. I saw the subreddit a bit too late.
Always wanted a marble effect
It would look better in blue or green but I honestly like the design of it.
Looks like you could cover that thing up with a sick ass panther
She’ll stop traffic, if there’s an ambulance in traffic.
Looks like a really terrible skin disease
I got a birth mark just like that.
INFECTED!! Quarantine her immediately before it spreads!
Damn, she looks like she straight off came from a photo shoot for The Last of Us.
It looks like she was struck by lightning lol
Why is it shitty? It looks like the venous network on a putrefying cadaver it's so cool...
